I have always loved the slower paced songs that Testament has done. I love their songs The Ballad, Return To Serenity,Trail Of Tears, and especially The Legacy. This is my favorite version of The Legacy ever. It is a MASTERPIECE!!!!! In my opinion Testament is extremely underrated. They should be headlining arenas all around the world in my eyes. They are that PHENOMENAL!!!
Alex Skolnick definitely gets the respect that he deserves, but in my opinion the band Testament is underated. In my eyes they should be headlining arenas all around the world.
I don't have much to say but, I will agree with everyone hear. I was first introduced to Testament (and had the chance to see them live and met them once in Charlotte, N.C) over 35 years' ago. Alex & Eric are my main inspiration to play guitar. Now, I am going on 45 and play rythym guitar in am undisclosed band. All thanks to Testament!
This is definitely one of the best heavy/thrash metal bands of all time. It is a shame they have not received the recognition they deserve as such (from the general public).
This is why testament are one of the best thrash bands ever because they can write can write awesome riffs heavy riffs and also write really great ballads which most thrash bands are afraid to do because they will get called "sellouts" by there fans
All time favourite song and lyrics, the solo is legendary and Alex legacy, influenced me a lot and may always be remebered. If i had to choose a song for my funeral this would be up on the list
I agree!! This is easily my favorite Thrash Metal ballad that Testament has ever done, especially this live version. They do other amazing ones also like The Ballad, Return To Serenity, and Trail Of Tears. Testament is indeed underated. In my opinion they should be headlining arenas all around the world. That is how amazing they are to me.
This is what I consider fine heavy metal. It's always fun to listen to the more groovy rock'n roll stuff, but this is really complex and atmospheric, it's been 11 years and only now I'm really discovering Testament. They are without a doubt in the top ten.
This is one of the my favourite songs of all times :) I started listening to metal with this one, Metallica's One... the late 80s, early 90s... I hated metal and a friend taped a k7 and gave it to me. Fell in love ever since. It's perfectly played here! Great to listen to :)
I'd love to hear Barlow or Owens sing this. I used to listen to this on repeat for hours in 92. This is my favorite Skolnick solo by far. I love how he basically repeats the mellow part, just fires it up for the 2nd part. Just like Adrian Smith did in Stranger in a Strange Land. Simple, but so effective and powerful. Watching this made me tear up a little. So fucking badass....
This is utter brilliance i remember seeing them on the clash of the titans bill way back in 1990 i think they played this then utter brillance skolnick and peterson together what a duo
I think every metal band should have a song like this. Not a power ballad, but a slow number. As the 2nd to last song in the set, it would be a great buildup for the finale.
One of my Top 10 songs from metal bands. Love this song for over 25 years. What’s on your Top 10 epic metal songs like this????? The metal ballads as some call this. Just looking for songs I might not know yet. Thanks world😉
You know what is cool is the fact that Alex Skolnick doesn't consider himself a metal guitarist. He says he's a jazz guitarist. At the same time he plays in an amazing metal band.
It's sad how Testament play this small kind of venues these days ... They are the real deal and deserves a big audience that go crazy, just like Metallica and Megadeth and Kiss and Iron Maiden ... Testament is as good as Megadeth and better than the rest ... And this song is the best thrash ballad ever!
Unfortunately he didn't stay in the band after this tour, he wasn't able to play the whole set because he didn't have it in him anymore. John Tempesta had to play the first half of the set.
lol, go watch the video of his band doing a jazz version of war pigs. He starts jumping up and down in the middle of it when he gets into it. I am sure jazz has a special place for him, but he has been rocking too long to not get that energy coursing through him when he starts jamming out solos.
This music has one of the best quitar solos ever
+you2flaviusss Exactly !
Yep, I was actually thinking the same,
one of the best, if not the BEST Metal Guitar solo after "Return to serenity"
For sure!!!! I love testament, since the 90's and this guitar solo its brutal' the best
Good God, I swear Skolnick knows were all the right notes are, every freaking time. What a musical talent.
I have always loved the slower paced songs that Testament has done. I love their songs The Ballad, Return To Serenity,Trail Of Tears, and especially The Legacy. Totally agree with you, and their lyrics are so powerful.
This song is so melanchonically beautiful, and the guitar is simply perfect
Skolnick is jazz guitar and metal, underrated as hell.. talented more than others big four..
No. Not underrated at all.
He is not underrated, he is considered as one of the best guitarist in the metal genre by many fans
Alex Skolnick definitely gets the respect that he deserves, but in my opinion the band Testament is underated. In my eyes they should be headlining arenas all around the world.
Skolnick is the best guitarist in that collection.
Yes
WOW Chuck's voice is amazing!
Chuck Billy; the most down to earth dude u will ever meet

Testament is probably one of my favorite metal bands , no other band can replicate their sound

Lol! I saw these guys with Slayer in Indy in 90, stood in the rain waiting to get in for 3 hours.......well worth it the show kicked serious ass.
❤que locura diosmío, nadie hace conciertos tan potentes como Testament, el talento es increíble
he is exceptional. Jazz training allows him to know all the right notes to hit over any chord progression.
All time favourite song and lyrics, the solo is legendary and Alex legacy, influenced me a lot and may always be remebered. If i had to choose a song for my funeral this would be up on the list
They are so underrated...this track is an absolute masterpiece

At 3:27 Skolnick annexes the world with a single arpeggio.
Beautiful song, Souls of black such an amazing album, takes me back to my teen years, alas such a long time ago!!!
This is one of the my favourite songs of all times :) I started listening to metal with this one, Metallica's One... the late 80s, early 90s... I hated metal and a friend taped a k7 and gave it to me. Fell in love ever since. It's perfectly played here! Great to listen to :)
the feeling of this song is so esoteric, it really catches the astral field we enter when we die🙏
This song brings back so many memories and brings a smile to my face.

Alex Skolnick is one of my favorite metal guitarists of all time! Right up there with Dave Mustaine and Kirk Hammet
Everytime I hear this song i think of Danny Lawrence, i miss you my brother!

I think every metal band should have a song like this. Not a power ballad, but a slow number. As the 2nd to last song in the set, it would be a great buildup for the finale.

Fez parte importante da minha vida! Great Song!!
Alex Skolnik and Chuck Billy are truly made of God stuff.
Godlike!! 5 stars!
Am I the only one who digs Louie Clemente's drumming when he was with Testament?
Too bad he isn't drumming anymore.
Alex is awesome, i really like the bassist aswell for some reason
Chuck Billy is the best vocal Testament ever had.
And the only singer they had. Zetro was in Legacy ;)
Chuck Billy is the best singer Thrash Metal ever had.
@@HubertDrumsCovers
So not Dave Mustaine then....😂😂😂

Absolutly!!!
You know what is cool is the fact that Alex Skolnick doesn't consider himself a metal guitarist. He says he's a jazz guitarist. At the same time he plays in an amazing metal band.
chuck billy always sings in tune...many singers do not during live shows
@djg0603 That's not Paul, Paul re-joined Testament in 2008-09. That's John Tempesta and Louie Clemente.
omg louie on drums 😍
It's sad how Testament play this small kind of venues these days ... They are the real deal and deserves a big audience that go crazy, just like Metallica and Megadeth and Kiss and Iron Maiden ... Testament is as good as Megadeth and better than the rest ... And this song is the best thrash ballad ever!

Fucking brilliant song this.
The original Testament \../
Louie Clemente badass drummer 😎
Unfortunately he didn't stay in the band after this tour, he wasn't able to play the whole set because he didn't have it in him anymore. John Tempesta had to play the first half of the set.
My Favorite song os the Testament
better than the studio version
1- Oh man I want that guitar that Eric has.
2- What amps do they use? Alex's tone is as perfect as the solos :o
I believe Skolnick was using Marshall Mode 4s at this time.
lol, go watch the video of his band doing a jazz version of war pigs. He starts jumping up and down in the middle of it when he gets into it. I am sure jazz has a special place for him, but he has been rocking too long to not get that energy coursing through him when he starts jamming out solos.
exelente video
