A.G.A. Campolin 10" 5mm Pick Lock - Best Italian Stiletto Switchblade You Can Buy

  • In this video I have two AGA Campolin stilettos, one in dark horn with a Kriss blade, and one in my favorite, Ram's Horn, with a dagger blade. These both feature the old style with a handle swell, thick 5mm blade stock, pick lock blade release, and an above average attention to detail.

    Yep, striking blades and workmanship. I’ve got a couple that I’m also ridiculously fond of myself-an AGA Campolin and a Frank B, both 11 inches. I’ve been looking hard lately at a Swinguard and a Sicilian Fighting model-geez, those two have me by the neck.

    Thanks for sharing, Im always ordering something new, and vids like these give a much closer view of many knives I see online, just ordered my first Dagger blade, an 11 inch F Beltrame stag humpback limited, after seeing your Rams in dagger glad I got mine in dagger as well.. Also on the blockiness, They cut them in a mill to get the general size, but I heard one maker say the Rams horn smells SO BAD when sanded and heated to carve down it was in his shop for days, that might have a little to do with it, or it might not.....still a keeper on that one.

    The blockiness of the scales seems odd, but very cool over all. I take it blade steel isn't usually a concern; these are kind of like silenced pistols -- the only practical applications come with bad intentions. But for collecting, very interesting, very nice.

    • @edged_mindset
      @edged_mindset  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +EisNeiN Yeah, these are not practical use knives. They have always been "novelties" , even from the very beginning. I would never use these for anything more then opening letters and playing with.

      Silenced weapons are to save your hearing, and shoot for pleasure, or an intruder, with less flinching. It is considered rude, in Europe, NOT to use a silencer. Think Outside the box !!

      @@edged_mindset they used to use carbon steel on the blades back in the early 50s Italian stilettos. I’m pretty sure stainless steel is something they started doing a little later. Carbon steel rusts and that’s why sometimes when you find an old 50s picklock stiletto, the blade is always a little rusted.

    I went to 3Knives website and considered ordering this knife to add to my collection. Seems they are located in Austria. Now, I'm 51 years old & know very well that the possession of this knife is illegal in my state. Of course, that's never deterred me before from buying "cheap" switchblades inside the U.S., but passing through customs? That's a $250 worry I'm facing. The site says, in plain English, that they are not responsible if confiscated at customs. My question to you (and your viewers) is: Has anyone ordered and what (if any) problems came from it? Thanks in advance....

    If you dont mind may I ask how much you paid for your 10in rams horn aga picklock?...the reason I ask is because I bought the same exact 2014 model...only difference is that mine has the bayonette blade...I dont mind the bayonette but I do prefcer the dagger grind like you have. I was lucky enough to purchase mine last week from a friend that collects fine switchblades and she sold me hers to help pay for her burns knife. My picklock is mint condition and looks amd fires as if I bought from campolin yesterday so I'm very happy with the knife. Id have a much darker green handle on mine...I think its amazing at the color range of greens that come from rams horns. Yours is the brightest green ive ever seen and in my opinion also the nicest...mine isn't far off though so I'm not complaining...bit I agree with you and think these are some of thee best overall switchblades ever made...they are up there with the very best. I paid $130 for mine on a package deal. I realize I got a great deal but I'm curious how much you paid for yours?...I dont know the price when these were issued and id like to know. But I really hope 4 years later you still have yours because it is truly the best ive seen and I own a mint one lol...have a great day...also campolin didnt sell any rams horn 10in picklock in 2019...so I'm assuming he didnt make any either...I wonder why if their so sought after?...but I think the stag horn version compares to ours in price and they were sold about 280 u.s. dollars I think. I dont see you vids the last year...I hope you still make them...I also hope you still collect fine switchblades

      SKM have some lower priced ones that are Italian, you said for self defense, I imagine you want to carry it, I wouldnt recommend spending $80-140 on an Italian for self defense, if its for EDC (every day carry) it will be taken if police stop you. I collect expensive blades but for self defense I carry a brass knuckle shaped taser, or if Im really carrying a lot of cash MAYBE a chinese made switchblade, because I wouldnt care if it got lost or broken.....go to bladeplay.com and look at what they have. Tons of survival/military gear theyll have what you want, Italian or not,prices are decent too.
