      I bought the white handle 10 in. For under 30 bucks i am happy. Hopefully these cheap cloans will hit rizzo status 20 years from now. Rizzuto s were cheap asian knock offs. And now demand at least 100 bucks now days.

      No problem with the video. You’ve done a great job, and it’s a beautiful knife. Unfortunately we aren’t allowed these lovely ‘Swithblade/Automatics’ in Australia. Wonderful knife with an unusual but very clever mechanism. Enjoy your beautiful knife. Cheers🙂

    great info man, i love switchblades, my first 2 were the same kind, i ordered them from a guns n amo magazine, they came all together accept you had to put the spring in them, at the time were i live they were illegal, but being young and not fallowing directions i broke both springs installing them if you will, so i was left with 2 cool lockbkades, but anyway i love the way you broke down both of these beauty's, i still collect today, cool video man!

    Great review! For some reason these silly black swing-guard switchblades are among my favorite in the world. I've got several from Italy I just love and adore but am contemplating yet another. This review was a great help! Thanks for posting.

    You bring up the most important thing, which is price to value ratio. The Chinese swinguards are getting better too. A few different factories are making them. They're great for a Swinguard that is actually going to be used.

    • @BrandonTClem
      @BrandonTClem  ปีที่แล้ว

      You'll find that nowadays, they're generally higher-quality than the modern authentic Italian ones...not sure why. I'll be doing an update video on this Campolin in the near future.

      The blade is loose because the pivot has loosened. Carefully hit it with a pin hammer but keep checking as you do it. It isn't hard. No,you shouldn't have to do this but I've had a few and it's basic. Try put two wedges of wood between the metal your opposite pivot is touching to stop any miss hits and damage. Tightened in a few whacks! It's how it was made in the first place. A simple 🔨. I've fixed a few loose 'uns like this.

    I think Chinese quality has come WAY up in the last few years. I just picked up a 13" stiletto for $35 that has "AKC Italy" on the blade but has a round wire firing spring which means it's really a "clone." However, in direct comparison to my Frank B 2.0 11" and SKM 13" overall construction and quality is very close. My Frank B 2.0 with 4mm thick blade is a genuine cut above all others for sure!
    I also got an AKC branded swing guard 11" with scimitar style blade from DHgate (has the round wire spring) and it is extremely well built, reliable, and attractive!
    I received a genuine Frank B 13" stag that had a blade that angled off to one side when opened so much so I simply couldn't ignore it and had to send it back.
    My A.G.A. Campolin Sicilian 12" however is SUPERB in every possible way! Fit, finish, LOOKS, and function!
    The Italian makers had better step up their game because China is turning out better stuff by the day!

    Ah a new swinguard vid, cool contrast I just got my AGA swinger a few days ago so damn beautiful as expected & the safety pins are far better on them than swivel bolster FB stilettos in my experience as you actually have to pull the lever down a bit more before they actually deploy , I’m also going to be getting a Diana soon I’m a sucker for clip points or rather lever locks

    • @BrandonTClem
      @BrandonTClem  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! I have to say, at least in my experience, AGA's safeties have always been terrible. I had to replace the knife 3 times to get one that worked. My Frank B's are all smooth, yet sturdy. That Diana is a sexy knife!! Swinguards have always been my thing.

    You should "soften" that safety a little bit! It is not normal to be that hard to move. Spray some WD40 in that hole and slide it a few times, and will work just fine. As a matter of fact - spray it on all moving parts (don't be shy)...let it soak a little bit, then clean it (any piece of cotton cloth will dry it out perfectly)...and It will operate as a "swiss watch".

    • @reaguurder1285
      @reaguurder1285 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In long term WD40 isn't lubricating, great for cleaning though. I always use sewing oil, because it's good lubricating and always laying around here.

    • @BrandonTClem
      @BrandonTClem  ปีที่แล้ว

      I find myself using REM oil on everything. I find that the safeties on pretty much any stiletto is fragile, so I don't mess with the action personally. Smooth operation is for my Benchmade autos.

    • @18echo
      @18echo ปีที่แล้ว +1

      WD 40 is not a lube - it's a "Water Displacer" In lubes, I've tried several - 3 in 1 Dry Lube sounded good but doesn't really dry for me. Lately I've been using liquid graphite. Drys is a couple of hours so it doesn't collect lint in my pocket and lubes great. Hope this helps somebody

    • @BrandonTClem
      @BrandonTClem  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. They stick out quite a bit from the handle, and the safeties on stilettos can be a bit fragile nowadays. I wouldn't mind carrying it if I knew I wouldn't be doing much physically, but a quality modern auto is usually a better choice. The Pro-Tech Godfather and Benchmade Auto-Fact are both great modern stiletto-style knives.

    cheap clone AKC stiletto switchblades from China are much better made and of more consistent quality than genuine Frank B's, SKM's or AGACamp. or real AKC's. The clones open harder but still have zero blade play when open and come razor sharp. All real Italian ones have wiggle and usually come hopelessly dull. It's sad kind of but I still buy expensive real Italian s-blades of course and ultimately value them much more than the cheap clones.

    • @BrandonTClem

    Dude your Campolin is extremely over priced junk. The blade on the Italian job sits so high in the closed position that the tip is almost showing. Brass liners offer no advantage whatsoever and you completely downplay the weak firing spring. I collected Italian stilettos for about 30 years and just recently sold them all because I saw them for what they really are, novelty toys. They make cool letter and box openers so I kept one and gave it to my wife to use. I'll take the Chinese clone without hesitation because even $50.00 is too much for this type of crap. I received a 9 inch stiletto from aliexpress last month and its just as good or better than the Italian jobs I had. Great fit, finish and well built with hard firing and no play in the locked position both open and closed. It even came very sharp in a box with belt pouch , yes you can cut your lunch with it.
    It was $12.68 + $6.34 = $ 19.02 CAN. Now that's what a pocket toy should cost.
    $200.00 USD for the campolin. YOU MUST BE NUTS.
