Firstly phd doesn't confirm you job. It doesn't confirm you big money or recognition. The only reason anyone needs to apply for a phd no matter what the age is that the person must be damn passionate about his or her research project. Otherwise its not worth it

Dr Monu Mishra Kindly note that GATE has no age limit. If any body including social science student's clear the exam they are eligible for MHRD fellowship. Most IIM's including prestigious ones also have no age limit in their doctoral programs. The only criteria the student have to clear CAT. Post PhD there are great opportunities in private universities and colleges. Chances for aboard is always there. In final analysis it's not all dark for aged PhD student. Though your point seems relevant and needs to be considered.

@@shineeyadav9076 I am from IIM alumus so I can suggest that you prepare for CAT rather than NET. Because CAT percentile requirement for some new IIMs is around 70-80. Bu if you have JRF then its easy to get through IIMs.

Dude If you plan to do a phd find good phd programs abroad. If you do phd in india it's like committing suicide. Also phd should completed in 4 yrs max but in reality most people end up completing phd after 6 to 7 yrs. So decide at your own risk. But if you qualify JRF, you can easily go to IITs and IIMs

For profs the last age for asst prof is 45 years.
There is as such NO age limit.. but universities do prefer younger persons as they can serve for long time.

Sir could you please tell me your opinion about whether doing A phd from Ignou can be risky in future. Is it certain or not that if we do a Phd from Ignou, we'll be as eligible for govt lecturer posts as people who do there PhDs from other state and central universities. I mean are we settling for less if we opt Ignou for doing Phd.

Maine msc maths open university se ki hai (pssou) se to kya mujhe university me phd entrance exam dena chahiye, aur phd kr bhi liya to kya kya ban sakta hun.... Private sector me bhi kya scope hai ..... Paise ka issue nahi hai.. To kya maths me phd krna sahi hai aur krna kitna aasan hai?
