I have loved the Statlers for years and years. I’m 83 now so I started loving them when I was n the class of 1958. You brought me many hours of happiness through your songs. Thanks to all of you boys for bringing me so much fun and laughter!!❤️🙏
When I was a child (about 40+ years ago) my Mom would make homemade yeast rolls and my Dad called them "Peonders". One day I asked him why and he jokingly sang "When the roll is called a peonder I'll be there" I miss him ~ he was a great man; He led me to Jesus ! I pray that God will bless each and every one of you. My Daddy is "A peonder" now.
+Aaron Cook that's too funny, i always think of my mama. she would listen to the old songs on KFDI am, the old radio ranch, when i was young 40+ yrs ago.
V Starr Yea, I miss the good old days; Hearing Mom sing and watching my Daddy, me and my brother and 4 sisters enjoy as well. We will all be reunited again ! Oh Happy Day ! God bless you V Starr !
Three of my Grandparents a peonders now, I miss them dearly, but we'll be peonders one day, and far beyond the pains of this world. God bless you brother!
Thank you for sharing this touching memory of yours also makes it more heartfelt for sure cause Im assuming your parents names have already been called up yonder.
These boys put Staunton Virginia on the map God bless them I grew up in Staunton at that time I went to Johnny Cash home & thanked him for hareing them in 1977
You never hear hymns in churches anymore. Now for the most part it's those new age Christian songs which are nothing compared to the hymns of yesteryear.
Rest in peace Harold. The choir in heaven just got a little better. I never had the honor of meeting you but I'm glad I was able to see you perform before you retired. You will be missed.
Ya know, Sarah, you are right, He wants us to be happy and "make a joyful noise" unto Him. But I have done a little thinking on this, and I definitely agree with you. Our Lord never asks us to do things we can not possibly do. He would never ask a blind guy to read to him, He would never ask a person with no legs to dance for Him. He knows out limitations He also knows our capabilities, although we do not. So, since He asks us to "make a joyful noise" He does not mean to sing......I can not sing, so I can't do that. But I can LAUGH, and that is the "joyful noise" He wants.....LAUGHTER. Not just singing.Singing would be good, if we all could, but I can't carry a tune in a bucket, so I will laugh for Him as much as I can. Maybe I am wrong, but that's the way I see it. Thanks for listening!
You know Lewis, joyful is joyful. If you WANT to sing, you SHOULD sing. My departed dad would sing in church, and joined mom and me in choir practice after prayer mtg just to pass the time we were in choir. If he sat w/ the bases, he was not too bad. If he was w/ mom and me, well he was certainly no soprano so he sounded odd as he couldnt help trying to sing our part. The point is that he liked to sing, and everyone was enjoying him. I know God took joy too. If you want to, GO FOR IT! Maybe some time w/ a choir director might help you find where your vocal range is and teach you to hear yourself and pitch yourself. Even if you never are never the featured soloist or even in choir, you may find a new joy in your worship. It's just a different way to talk w/ The father. God bless and praise on in ANY way you wish.
Good song but use some rationale - there is no God; just some non-existent thing humans have invented to offer some purpose to our meaningless fluke chance existence. Absolutely no evidence of a God except in brainwashed closed minds.
My grandfather was retired air force during WW2, when he was younger before entering the military he had his own quartet singing tenor. He was from South Carolina and Southern Baptist, this song was his favorite gospel hymn to perform. He died in 2008, whenever I hear this song I remember him.
As a little kid, my grandmother would listen to these people.. day in and day out.. she passed too early, but praise God she asked my mom to pray for her on her death bed and that night she accepted Jesus into her life. My grandma was my everything and listening to these songs, bring back sooo many good memories.. I just miss her so much and I cant wait to see her again!
JESUS woke me up, with this hymn in my mind this morning, so I had to listen to it. The Holy SPIRIT also helped me to write a Prayer poem, based on this hymn, in a matter of seconds. What began as my audible morning prayer to GOD, resulted in being a poem. Thank You Holy SPIRIT for this Awesome gift, In JESUS Name Amen. 🙏
Amen Lord I remember listening to this great old hymn and signing it in the choir. The Statler Bros especially bass Harold really nailed it oh what a day it will be to hear your name called for Heaven to live with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ o
When in the70's and beyond my children learned a lot of Gospel We had a pickup camper and traveled all over the mid-wet and had cassette player and between The Statler Brothers and Oakridge Brothers they learned to sign and enjoy our music. Now their children hear and sing what they call Grandpa's music.
When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound and time shall be no more And the morning breaks eternal bright and fair When the saved diverse shall gather over on the other shore And the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there When the roll is called up yonder When the roll is called up yonder When the roll is called up yonder When the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there On that bright and cloudless morning when the dead in Christ shall rise, And the glory of His resurrection share When His chosen ones shall gather to their home beyond the skies, And the roll is called up yonder, I?ll be there Let us lay before the Master from dawn 'til setting sun Let us talk of all his wondrous love and care Then when all of life is over and our work on Earth is done And the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there When the roll is called up yonder When the roll is called up yonder When the roll is called up yonder When the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there
Every Saturday Nite I Watched the Statler z.Brothers. My Mom lived in my brothers after Dad passed away so Every Saturday I was in town she had me over to watch the show with her. They were her. favorites too. She's been gone for years but those are my happiest memories together with Mom.
Songs I was brought up with. Love the old Hymns. My Daddy played Piano and my Momma was the song leader at church. AH the memories and comfort these songs bring
I love the hymns that I grew up with love the Statler Brothers music only lived about 45 minutes from the small town they grew up in they had a great career ❤️
This hymn was always my Dad's favorite hymn and he always said he wanted it sung at his funeral and guess what......it was! Thinking of and missing my Dad when I here this sung
If Ol' Harold were still alive, he woulda made the future a better place for everyone throughout the years and coming until he flies to god. RIPNIL (Means Rest In Piece And In Love) Harold and you fly safely to heaven.
This song reminds me of the small Evangelical church in North Vancouver, where I grew up. We sang this song in the church along with other old songs I have not heard in ions. This sure brings back good memories.
The story behind the creation of this song is also pretty awesome, what I would call an instantaneous and completely divine inspiration! www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/w/h/e/whenroll.htm
I remember the Statler Brother's T.V. SHOW-Loved it, some years ago I got to see the Statlers live in Consert some years ago! No other quartet compars wheater it is "Flowers On The Wall, or one of their gospal songs.
"LORD, as I lay in my bed in the coolness of the air-conditioning, my aching body being soothed by Your singers in Christ, I think of the time coming when the roll will be called. Oh what a thought LORD, what a thought" God bless
This song is how I figured out I was a baritone. I always thought I was just bad at singing, turns out I was just in the wrong key. My speaking voice is two full octaves higher than my singing voice. If you're having trouble with this song, try matching our friend with the mustache.
In future I will buy all their albums. I'm, a man from the Urals, will buy all the Statlers' albums. Sounds LOL but I'm sure. Thank you for your answers. I don't know Jimmy's key in the last part but it's just an awesome tenor!
Jesus wants you for his valentine, but he can only use a pure heart,so he shed his blood to wash your heart as white as new snow,go to him with faith,he will do the rest. HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY
I have loved the Statlers for years and years. I’m 83 now so I started loving them when I was n the class of 1958. You brought me many hours of happiness through your songs. Thanks to all of you boys for bringing me so much fun and laughter!!❤️🙏

Let's do the same right now!
These boys put Staunton Virginia on the map God bless them I grew up in Staunton at that time I went to Johnny Cash home & thanked him for hareing them in 1977
Brother Harold Reid was called home this week - will be missed in this great group
You never hear hymns in churches anymore. Now for the most part it's those new age Christian songs which are nothing compared to the hymns of yesteryear.
Amen to that.
They're missing the heart and soul of yesteryear.
And I personally don’t like the guitars, drums, trumpets, piano, clarinets, etc etc, I mean, “the bands” that they all seem to have gone to nowadays.
Exactly
I don't attend any church that doesn't sing hymns. It is called "sacred music" for good reason.
Rest in peace Harold. The choir in heaven just got a little better. I never had the honor of meeting you but I'm glad I was able to see you perform before you retired. You will be missed.
I love to listen to these old classic hymns that we used to sing years ago.
Hello Joan
How are you doing today?
Amen 🙏🙏❤ i love this song The THE Statler Brothers.GOD blessed THEM🙏
They sure did a great job on this song! I'm really smiling and singing along!
This one of my favorites!!
rip harold reid you will be missed.
That guy just taught me how to sing, so his legacy carries on.
My Aunt died yesterday. i am having this song at her memorial service.
My condolences to you and your family! God Bless💜
God wants us to be happy and sing joyfully to Him. This is one of the greatest examples of that!
Ya know, Sarah, you are right, He wants us to be happy and "make a joyful noise" unto Him. But I have done a little thinking on this, and I definitely agree with you. Lewis, I'm not a very religious person, but your words were so heartfelt and sincere, I'm going to reread them often
God wants us to be repentant. Everything else is secondary.
Good song but use some rationale - there is no God; just some non-existent thing humans have invented to offer some purpose to our meaningless fluke chance existence. Absolutely no evidence of a God except in brainwashed closed minds.
THANK YOU STATLER BROTHERS FOR SHARING YOUR MUSIC WITH ME GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
