Did you get the Hollyhock seeds from Anjou?! I have a hunch that might be your favorite... based off the area you live, and your inclinations towards fine flours and artisinal styling. It's my favorite, and their Hollyhocks every year are GORGEOUS!

The fact is, BTC is the future of crypto and the questions traders ask themselves now is if this is right time to invest?
before jumping into conclusion i think you should take a look at things first. for the past few days the price of BTC has been fluctuating which means the market is currently unstable and you cant tell if it is going bearish or bullish. while others still continue to trade without the fear of making lose, others are being patient. it all depends on the pattern with which you trade and also the source of your signals. i would say trading has been going smoothly for me, i started with 1.5 BTC and i've accumulated over 7.5 BTC in just three weeks, with the trading strategy given to me by expert trader Harvey Archer. His methods are top notch and profitable and he can be contacted easily on Teleqram (@CryptoWith_David) cheers

My heart broke for you when you talked about frying so many plants in the hot compost... I know you have worked so hard on the new beds and planting early from seed and all of the transplanting that feeds your family - just to lose them all. I love your perseverence which is such an encouragement to new gardeners everywhere. It is also refreshing to hear that you are sore and tired. It keeps this journey real, and I realize I'm not just old and decrepit when I'm tired and sore from hauling rock, compost, logs, plants... it's just the reality of gardening. oh my gosh! what a beautiful video! i am so new at being off grid in the sierra nevada mountains on the california side. 7 months now. lived before that in the midwest of illinois. i have a blank slate. the last seven months, our excitement of gardening thinking we have a longer grow season here than illinois? we were wrong. we are covering everything in frost cloth due to our "excitement " of living here. we are tired of covering everything due to our inexperience. but we are so motivated to get the "first crop" successful, so our confidence and learning will evolve. thank you for showing us the "experience" as we so can't "live" unless we can dig our hands in the ground With videos like yours, you carry us "new beginners in homesteading and gardening" and that will lead us the way. thank you. it means so much to us.

My mother loved gardening and we would both take each other on walks or “tours” of our garden when we went to each other’s houses. I continue the tradition with my sisters and daughters ( even our son loves our gardens). Very thankful my husband loves gardening too. It’s such a source of joy and comfort in these troubling times.

I had a huge tree that had to be taken down and I saved the mulch which they just dumped it in my front yard- as it was too wet to bring the dump truck into the backyard. The next day I had my soil and sands company bring in a huge 1/2 truck load of old mulch. My neighbors thought I was crazy, but I had to tell them you have to let the new tree mulch sit for at least 3 months if not longer before placing it around flower beds. I am having to wheel barrow it out of the front lawn and place it in an area in my backyard to cure. I agree it is back breaking work. Your yard is lovely.

We put in a koi pond with a creek & fountain last year. It's so nice to have the sound of the running water but the nitrogen content in the water is fantastic for plants as well. Whenever we have to clean the filters (which are in a giant tub that overflows into a waterfall), I spray the nitrogen-rich water onto the gardens. I pulled nearly 1000lbs of just tomatoes & peppers from two gardens last year just by adding that extra nitrogen-rich water!

I'm in central Texas, but I get so much inspiration from your videos. I had a garden last year that did so-so, and I've had health issues crop up and haven't even started anything this year. Which is sad. But I'm thinking I should force myself to get it going. I'm happier when I do, even when it wipes me out. I'm so scared of putting in the effort and then having my health be an issue again and having it go to waste.

This is really long, but with so much of your property being turned into gardens, the amount of weeding that needs doing must be overwhelming. It's a wonder you have time for your lovely family & all the wonderful cooking you do.
I'd like to offer 2 ways of managing weeds which I doubt you or most gardeners are using, which would free up so much of your time during the growing seasons. One is the Pre-emergent method.
The active ingredient in the product Preen, which can be purchased on its own is Corn Gluten Meal. Sprinkled on freshly opened soil, whether tilled veggie garden beds, notorious for bringing dormant seeds up into the sunlight giving them the one thing they needed to continue on fulfilling their destiny to become a plant - sunshine. This is one reason many prefer to use the no till methods.
Whenever the soil is disturbed by planting a tree, shrub, perennial, or annual, or even in an area which has weeds or plants, sprinkling the CGM evenly on the soil will prevent a high percentage - if not 100% of the seeds in the soil from sprouting, yet won't harm plants or existing weeds. And in those areas where you use CGM granules, seeds will not sprout for about 6 months.
It's true. I used Preen on a pile of soil on my driveway, meant for building raised beds. Due to dislocating & tearing my shoulder, I was unable to use it - for a long time. After struggling to weed a mountain of soil a few times, luckily I saw a Preen ad or something & tried it. That mound of soil did stay weed free for an entire season. Of course this will not be an area in which you can then plant seeds of desired plants for at least 6 months, You can plant seedlings, however, annuals, perennials, shrubs, & trees. I'm not sure if it can also be used after freshly planting bulbs, corms, or rhizomes, but I think it can, since they're not the same as seeds, & are usually planted several inches deep. But, it may be best to wait until they've grown into plants before using it around such plants, just to be sure.
Otherwise, sprinkle CGM evenly around anything freshly planted, & then mulch if you like & don't worry about weeding for a while. You might want to sprinkle it around your beds & plantings the following springs to insure yet another season of being weed free. You can't use it on a newly seeded lawn, but I think after you've established a lawn, maybe with some overseeding to get it dense 1st, then, once established, use it in a seed & feed broadcaster, if the granules fit the gage of the openings to prevent the sprouting of any weed seeds that blow in or are left behind in bird droppings.
To remove existing weeds quickly, try Horticultural vinegar which @ 20 % or 30% has a very high acidity. This degree of acidity will burn skin on contact, so please use with great caution. Use chemical gloves, & adequate eye protection. Be sure you don't spill it on skin, shoes or clothing while adding it to a hand sprayer or tank sprayer, using chemical gloves & a funnel, diluting with water to lower the acidity in your sprayer, to be determined by your application needs.
You could probably even use it to kill dangerous & destructive insects like nests of Hornets, Tent Caterpillars, or Scorpions or venomous spiders that get in the house, or garage, etc.
HV is many times stronger than the kinds of vinegar used in cooking, cleaning, or used as a hair rinse to remove any buildup of hair products. Those types of vinegar - whether food grade, made from apples, or the ones which are petroleum by products, which are about 5% or 6% acidity.
To eliminate standing weeds, unwanted plants, or to open an area in your lawn you expect will take hours of back breaking shovelling & maybe a Pick Ax, to build up the soil & plant a veggie garden, or an ornamental planting bed, spraying with HV would be so much easier. I bought several gallon containers on Amazon a couple years ago & haven't used it yet, but watched a few YT vids & was impressed.
I'm going to try it on the roots of saplings that had a chance to grow after I dislocated & tore my shoulder. My shoulder has improved enough that I plan to cut the saplings down to the ground, spray the fresh cut 1st. right away, as it may get drawn in by capillary action. Then with a claw tool, a tapered hoe & a trowel, I'm going to loosen & scrape away at the soil around the roots. Then I'm going to hit the roots with a focused, high powered jet of water from the hose to displace soil to expose as much of the root systems as possible, Then I'll spray the roots I can see thoroughly, as well as the soil surrounding the root ball so it can saturate the soil & hopefully reach roots close to the surface, just a few inches down. By the next day, they will likely be dead. Finally!
Then I'll spray, pry out or or hand yank weeds as they appear. My next epic task will be removing lots of Poison Ivy which overtook my banking of spring bulbs while being incapacitated. I wish I'd hired some help with these things & basic yard care, years ago, but it can be very costly. Also, in my experience, I've had 2 Hydrangeas, a valuable Tree Peony, well over 20 years old, my Ninebark Diablo, & Russian Sage cut down, by people with no concept of gardening, & then my Tarella ( Foam Flower) ground cover I'd been so excited had finally begun to spread after 3 or 4 years mistaken as weeds I guess, & yanked out by a professional gardener no less who charged $20.00 per hour, with my discount as a friend. I noticed it days later, so never told her. Maybe it was eaten by a Rabbit...or a Groundhog.
Somehow I hope to dig out & relocate to protect my spring blooming & other ground covers & a few desirable shrubs & perennials from my banking filled with spring bulbs. I'm hoping the bulbs can survive if I avoid spraying around them, until all their foliage withers away. In fall I'll dig them out & relocate & feed them Bonemeal.
To start, I'll try to cut down & rip out as much PI as possible, & then watch for new PI leaves popping up. I'll try a sponge painting brush, dunked in the diluted solution or sprayed onto the brush, & keep painting it on, coating those new leaves without any overspray, until I've succeeded killing all the PI.
This stuff turns weeds brown crispy - within a 24 hr period or sooner.I sure hope these products can help anyone who reads this, to find the freedom which is ours for the taking when we learn to work smarter, & not just harder.

I enjoy watching you and looks like the littlest one is feeling a little more needy. she will get used to filming outside. They have grown.I have been a watcher of your best friend Angelia. I started with her when they moved to Michigan. My Daughter home schools so you are both interesting to me and you life styles. Thank you for the tour. Joyce

Great video. Thank you. Love what you have done. AS to the herb garden...I understand re the weeds. It would be a great place for the unfinished compost to go. Sheet mulch, top with the new compost and even fresh manure, cover with an old carpet or black sheet plastic and leave it until the autumn. Weeds will be gone and compost ready for use. Initial hard work but should be much easier when you come to use it. After you feel better of course. : ) It's like composting in situ. If you have tall raised beds or even in the potting shed, you can fill the beds half way with fresh manure or unfinished compost and top with about a foot or two of soil for a hot bed in the colder season. Lovely new veg garden. I'm sure it will reward your hard work.

1 year seeding, 7 years weeding is a common gardening phrase in Australia. Unfortunately I have fallen in love with the color of the flowers on some of my weeds, so I end up having to play catch up fast to control them before they go from flower to seed.. I like your use of the term battle line and not taking on too much at once in the introduction of no-dig principles into your garden. You can Charles Dowding should do a collaborative video one day. You both have such soothing voices. Cheers from the subtropics!

I’ve been gardening in raised beds for a few years and am considering pea gravel for walkways. I have bark chips between the strawberries that are in the native soil amended. The biggest difference for me this season is having mulched everything with grass clippings or leaf mulch (mown over leaves). My soil is black and moist and fluffy! We have clay soil and just learned that gypsum added in breaks up the clay. My husband widened the driveway so I now have a 30’ berm to plant some butterfly weed and joe pye weed and sunflowers and calendula and poppies. It’s a great and hopeful year especially in our gardens. Thank you for the tour. You’re implementing lots of changes and your efforts are being rewarded. Will you put in raspberries and strawberries? I have 7 minutes of the video left maybe I’ll see a berry patch.

    🌸🌷🌺❣️🍒❣️🌺🌷🌸
    P. S. Thanks for the cardboard reminder. I’ll put it between some rows in the the far garden to suppress weeds and keep the soil moist.

I was surprised how many commercials butted in on this video in particular. I wonder why? I mean there are always some but much more than usual.

That was a great tour. Thanks for keeping it real -- we all have weeds and spaces that are far from perfect. Sometimes we run out of time or energy or the weather doesn't cooperate with our plans. You've got a beautiful space there with so many green things growing. I love it. I'm wondering....on that weedy garden.... maybe just keep it mowed down so it can't go to seed??

Began gardening again after 30 years... TG for the no-dig method. I too ordered a truck load of compost and found it too hot to use. Luckily, I decided to let it cook before using it in the new garden. And fortunately I was able to get another load that was fully cooked and was able to establish my small garden using that. Good tip to CHECK the TEMP on your bulk compost delivery.

I am sheet mulching all my pathways this year. My no dig garden has been a success going on it’s fourth year.🎉 But I can’t fit the mower down the pathways anymore and it takes all day to use a string trimmer to get the whole garden done. I’m so happy (and relieved) I’m getting it done this year! As I like to think Charles Dowding would say: well done, you!
