The way I chose to organize my shelves is first by genre then by series & then by author. So if an author has a large series that they wrote, it’s all together & then their other novels will be grouped there too for ease of finding them (:

Once I read books I take them over to my parent's house and store them in my old bedroom. I also have a shelf for series I'm working on reading and then a shelf for series that I have completed reading. I have a total of 15 bookshelves between both places and 8 of those bookcases are double rowed on each shelf.
I love book series. Therefore, much of my collection is placed in series/number order. The rest are filed (because they are mostly digital) by author name then publication date. My beloved art, craft, travel tabletop books are in a book shelf and stored with like topics together.
📚 I worked in a bookstore when I was in college, where I met my husband. We have a lot of books. I organize my books by non-fiction and fiction. The non-fiction is alphabetical by author within category. I then have all the mass market size fiction paperbacks together. They are alphabetical by author within category (classics, mystery, horror, sci-fi/fantasy, and general. Finally, all the hardcover and trade paperbacks are alphabetical by author, but I have the ones I have read are at the top, and then the rest. I also have a TBR shelf for what I want to read this year. So many books, so little time :-)
I organize based on genre, then author alphabetical within the genre to find specifics. But i think this is the best way. I am somewhat of a mood reader so I know when I'm feeling mystery/thriller vs. contemporary romance. So good job!
The new shelves are gorgeous and very satisfying. I agree with you that reorganizing books into their new home is exhausting. I just reorganized my shelves as well about two weeks ago and it was a long process and exhausting. But in the end and even now I love my new set up by series and grouping my favorite books together onto one shelf.

📚I have no organization right now. I just have stacks of books and it’s insanity and whatever. Life! So I need shelves in my life and I love watching these videos but I have three small children in a small house and they need all the room for fun and toys! We are loosely organized by genre (some made up by me), and then it is decorated with things in that theme. Our witch shelf (I know that isn’t a traditional genre haha) has a decorative tarot deck and a spell charm 🧙🏼♀️ Our fantasy shelf has a treasure chest and a dragon picture in back 🐉 Our non-fiction/learning shelf has a globe and a telescope on the top of the shelf (that we occasionally use) 🔭 Our classics shelf has a skull (from my husband’s medical school lol) 💀 Our HP shelf (most of which is decades old now) is decorated with a dobby plushy, HP metallic bookmarks, and the time turner ⚡️ Our sci-fi shelf has home grown crystals and gold nuggets my grandma gifted to my kids 💎 We were fortunate to have items that fit with each genre. It just worked to fill a lull in sections. I totally agree about letting the books shine. We just added things in where it felt like it could use a little extra life

I organize my 📚 by series most of them are fantasy so i don't bother with genre. Sometimes i put publishing house books together because they are issued in similar way.
I'm very much a traditionalist - If you can navigate a public library, you'd find your way around my shelves. I shelf my YA and adult together, but have my Middle Grade shelved separately. I have a few special collections that have their own space, but that's pretty much it. Although the rainbow shelves are pretty, they stress me out just thinking about finding books. I love this new look, both displaying by genre, and the addition of tchotchkes without them overwhelming the books. If I had less books, I'd be tempted to rush off and organize my shelves just like this, but, alas, I'm still halfway through switching out my books with my art and tea ware shelves because my floofs are not to be trusted, so anything fragile or textile is going into the glass fronted cabinets, and the books will be moved to the open shelving. Can't wait for autumn decorating to begin. Our summer has been pretty exhausting. Rain please.

I organize my shelves in kind of mismatched way. I have a favorites shelf, that's a mix a MG, YA, and Adult. Then I have a separate YA shelf that's not really super organized. And then I have an adult shelf done by genre. And I keep all of my Book of the Month books separate, mostly because I like that they're all the same height. And I have a TBR shelf, sorted by when I bought the books, so I can pretty immediately see what's the oldest on my TBR.
Wow!! I love how it all turned out! What a task, but it was well worth it. I think my favorite shelves are the Dark Academia and Magical Realism shelves. I feel the vibes so much! 📚📚📚
I also had mine rainbow & changed mine to Age, genre and vibes! I don’t have quite as many as you, but it took a good few hours and my back was definitely feeling it! My YA shelf was 90% fantasy. 📚

And, I don't organize my books in any way, they're just placed wherever there was space (I guess as I opened my boxes last December, I just placed the books anywhere because I didn't know what to do with them. They're mostly fantasy, I think, so I didn't know how to organize really...) I may one day decide to organize them better but for now, they are staying the way they are. Also, I don't have a set organizing method for you. I think the way you have them now is just fine. We don't have to turn our bookshelves into someone else's way of doing things. Can't wait to see how you decorate for fall and Christmas! My shelves have doors so I can't do much with them, but maybe one day I'll have decorations for each season or holiday (I have mugs in there now and wanted to put my Funko Pops! if I lose space in the bedroom soon). I organize the same way. Genre and then by feeling. I do put all books by the same author in the genre together and I keep series together and in order. Otherwise it’s just what looks good together

I organize my shelves my genre and then by vibes since there isn't a lot of reason to the order of things and I am constantly changing them however, I only have 2 bookshelves so it's easier to manage 📚 I can't wait for the tour

I currently have my shelf with all of my favorite books and other books I've already read. My TBR shelf is organized by season. I'm a big mood reader and like to read by seasonal vibes 😊📚

I just reorganized my book shelves a couple weeks ago and I thought it was just me but I love sitting and looking at all my books. 📚 I did mine by genre as well except for my tbr shelf.

I organize my books by genre!! I’ve loved doing it this way since I very first started growing my collection. If I’m being honest, I wouldn’t mind a new way to do it that still fits me so I’ll be scavenging the comment section 📚📚📚
I organize my 📚 by series most of them are fantasy so i don't bother with genre. Sometimes i put publishing house books together because they are issued in similar way.
Love it! I’m totally a rainbow 🌈 book order organizer. I have a few places in my house with book and all are rainbow. Including my boys’ books.
I'm very much a traditionalist - If you can navigate a public library, you'd find your way around my shelves. I shelf my YA and adult together, but have my Middle Grade shelved separately. I have a few special collections that have their own space, but that's pretty much it.
Although the rainbow shelves are pretty, they stress me out just thinking about finding books.
I love this new look, both displaying by genre, and the addition of tchotchkes without them overwhelming the books. If I had less books, I'd be tempted to rush off and organize my shelves just like this, but, alas, I'm still halfway through switching out my books with my art and tea ware shelves because my floofs are not to be trusted, so anything fragile or textile is going into the glass fronted cabinets, and the books will be moved to the open shelving.
Can't wait for autumn decorating to begin. Our summer has been pretty exhausting. Rain please.

In case you care to know these things, I'm watchiing this video again because I'm gonna be gone for a few days and I wanted to enjoy some of my fave booktubers' videos before I leave. I also have an appointment this morning and need to be ready in about 30 minutes, so I'm watching your videos until then. If you're posting this Sunday, I'm gonna try to watch the video, but I don't know how much I'll be able to watch since I'll be using my cell phone data. I also don't know what day it is when I'm somewhere else because I rely on my computer's clock to tell me so I won't know when things are posted. LOL... I'm not gonna post any comments while I'm away so I have more data to watch more videos since it's already not much, but I'm gonna be watching as much as I can and will miss everyone while I'm gone. I'm used to watching everyone's videos at all hours of the day and night so it's gonna be hard for me to not have that while I'm not here. I'll manage, but I'll miss you all.
I love watching all these videos I've saved and am glad I decided to save them because it gives me something to do when I'm feeling crappy and have nothing to do or nowhere to go. While I'll be gone, though, I will be trying to get through my physical books, which I don't read much of unless I'm out of the apartment, and I'm hoping to be able to finish the 3 I started and start a new one, but don't knoww if I can since I read slowly and am not gonna be gone that long to be able to finish 3 books, but we'll see what happens. I might be able to read more than I think I will. My insomnia will control my reading and usually I'm too tired to focus on anything so that's why I don't think I'll be able to function but as I said, we'll see what happens. I'm feeling good this morning, so that's a plus!
If I don't post on anonther video today, I hope you have an amazing weekend and week. I'll be watching everyone's videos more often from now on because I've missed them so much! I need to memorize them, but my bbrain doesn't let that happen. LOL

So I have this thing where I never watch book videos in front of my husband because he's 10 years older than me and does not understand why I like to look at strangers on the internet 😂 But tonight I thought you know what, I'm just going to play your video on the TV. And my husband laughed and he said: 1. You look at me like your ashamed for being a crazy book obsessed woman. 2. You look like you totally adore this person and want to visit her bookshelfs. And it is all so true haha 💜 Accept for the ashamed part.. Because I just moved my bookshelves to our bedroom 🤣

I organize my shelves in kind of mismatched way. I have a favorites shelf, that's a mix a MG, YA, and Adult. Then I have a separate YA shelf that's not really super organized. And then I have an adult shelf done by genre. And I keep all of my Book of the Month books separate, mostly because I like that they're all the same height. And I have a TBR shelf, sorted by when I bought the books, so I can pretty immediately see what's the oldest on my TBR.

I also had mine rainbow & changed mine to Age, genre and vibes! I don’t have quite as many as you, but it took a good few hours and my back was definitely feeling it! My YA shelf was 90% fantasy. 📚
Loved this video!! And, I don't organize my books in any way, they're just placed wherever there was space (I guess as I opened my boxes last December, I just placed the books anywhere because I didn't know what to do with them. They're mostly fantasy, I think, so I didn't know how to organize really...) I may one day decide to organize them better but for now, they are staying the way they are.
Also, I don't have a set organizing method for you. I think the way you have them now is just fine. We don't have to turn our bookshelves into someone else's way of doing things.
Can't wait to see how you decorate for fall and Christmas! My shelves have doors so I can't do much with them, but maybe one day I'll have decorations for each season or holiday (I have mugs in there now and wanted to put my Funko Pops! if I lose space in the bedroom soon). Maybe it will be too much work for me, especially since I will be the only one who sees them with that on there. LOL

I’m in love with this! I can’t bare to give up books. But i do like to go around to little libraries and get rid of some books given to me that i know i won’t read. and then something in those libraries catch my eye and i bring it home. But if you have any book of the month ones you’re giving away i would love to see which ones you have
I organize the same way. Genre and then by feeling. I do put all books by the same author in the genre together and I keep series together and in order. Otherwise it’s just what looks good together

I've recently separated my unread books from my read ones and that has worked wonders for me as whenever I get the impulse to order a lot of books, I look at my tbr and realise I have plenty to read😂
