The bow is nothing. This boss is most annoying when it stun locks you with great soul arrows. I’ve literally been killed twice by Aldrich when it hits me with a great soul arrow up close and spams it in quick succession 3 or 4 times to kill me

@@zachoshark Yeah, it has to be triggered manually from what I have seen in videos pitting SoC against other bosses where the fights do not take place in the Kiln of the First Flame. Now, there are some who have become good at masking the manual input, but I have seen it in videos that either BonfireVN created (specifically the older ones) or a few of PO88's videos (you get this dark box on the left of the screen prior to SoC going into its second phase in a video from one of the two TH-camrs I listed).
It's funny how one of the few times he used sorceries is against a magical dragon
Also ironic how he killed Aldrich and Pontiff as a cleric.
Soc is the most disrespectful boss in the game and i totally approve of it cuz it's makes total sense lore-wise since well i can see myself killing bosses with their own weapons just for fun

It’s ironic how close Champion Gundyr was to beating the SOC’s first phase, and only to fall a little short, just like how he was a little late to the shrine, to a bell that wouldn’t toll... Poor, Poor Gundyr.

@Salacious Arts according to what hawkwood said, aldrich became a lord of cinder just because of how much power he got through eating people, wich is a laughable amount of power compared to soul of cinder's "cleric form" alone. The abyss watchers did become lords through effort rather than might, but if they couldn't beat an ashen one on it's first steps, the couldn't possibly beat soul of cinder unless he used the "sorcerer form". Not to mention when gwyn comes out.

I think its better to see boss fights on ng instead of ng+7, its the game meant to be, without just false upscaling dmg and hp, like how in the heaven a crossbow dealt around 300-400 dmg to me in the body from npc invader lol

Soul of Cinder was disrespectful for nearly killing Oceiros with sorceries, and I approve of it. When Soul of Cinder came up against the Ole Dragonslayer Armor, I did not know who to root for; my heart was torn!
I love how Soul of Cinder just stood still when Oceiros really started flipping it out like, “you good, man? You need a moment?” XD that killed me!

I love that one of the characters that comes closest to beating him is Gundyr who has no gimmicks. He's just a big dude who hits REALLY freaking hard and moves fast. Ditto for the Armor for most part(butterfly and lightning aside).

I’ve played a tiny bit in the beginning, but not yet beaten the first boss in DS3 (but I do understand Souls shit in general because I’ve beaten Demon’s Souls and the first Dark Souls game (and completed over half of DS2) - can you explain to me briefly wtf Soul of Cinder is? He seems pretty bad ass. :)

Soul of Cinder is a reincarnation of all Lords of Cinder - people who Linked the First Flame.
ALL of them, including your own character from DS1, and, hopefully, your character from DS2 will join the roster.
And there is a pleasant, yet logical surprise in the second phase of the fight...
Also, the more recent lords - such as the ones in the starting cutscene - probably did not burn for long enough to reincarnate.

Watching bosses fight is funny because you can see the moments where they’re just walking around and you know it’s because those are the moments you’re supposed to heal at. It would be interesting to see how much harder the game would get if those pauses were modded out
