When Funny Isn't Funny in English

- I'm sure in English class you learned that the word funny means amusing or hilarious. It's used to refer to something that makes you laugh. When someone tells a funny joke, it makes you laugh. Did you know that sometimes the word funny doesn't mean funny in this way?
Well in this English lesson I'll help you learn 10 different ways we use the word funny, and most of them aren't funny at all! Funny is a very common word in the English language, so it's important to learn some of the other ways we use it!
In this lesson you'll learn phrases like: funny you should ask, the funny thing is, funny bone, a funny feeling, feeling funny, and more!

I just watched an interview of Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda. Jane said Lily have funny bones in the interview. I guess that means Jane believed that Lily had the talent in comedy. Maybe that’s the other meaning of funny bone.Right? Thanks!!!

Hello Bob! I enjoy and learn a lot watching your videos. I think your way of teaching is very educational. But could I suggest you reconsider showing embedded clips in your videos? In my experience, those clips distract the viewer. The simplest explanation is the best one, I think. Thanks a lot for helping thousands and thousand of people!

You would describe it as, "I was walking funny after my injury." When you say, "funny walk" it means you walk in a silly way to make people laugh. The order is important haha! 😎📭🏆
