I like it but having no reminder is ridiculous. Also turn off eco mode or else your box will start to suddenly just turn itself off whilst your watching it. sky have said it's a bug they are working on.
Had the Sky Q install beginning of December, all the reported problems happening as reported by everyone. Mainly disconnection between the two boxes. I have now decided to hard wire the two boxes back to the router, and assign static addresses. Since doing this I have had no problems at all. No disconnections and all pages load with full images etc etc. Playback of all recordings fine. So, if you can, hardware the network. Sky Engineers are told only to connect via wifi, plus there networking knowledge and understanding of how it all works is very limited.
The thing that annoys me is when watching a programme and wanting to look for something else you get a box on the left showing what you are currently watching but when you want to return to that programme you have to go back into TV guide and click on the channel that you were watching. There is no way to get into that small screen as was the case on the previous sky plus box. Not progress
I was prompted to watch this video. I bought a QBox and it's in the post.(not a sky Q)While watching some videos on my iPad the volume is up and down. That's to say the volume is very low on some TH-cam videos. Can something be done about this like say a sound equaliser modification or is it more complicated.
Couple things that annoy me are having to hit the back button to get out of the info box,why not just press info again to leave. The play button is way to sensitive and I miss pressing it to go straight into an on demand programme. And lastly the default when you turn tv on is the menu screen that's just plain daft!!
Not sure why so much emphasis on Ultra HD content? Ultra HD is rank average, and only comes to life with the much more expensive OLED TVs....... and of course most broadband still isn't tough enough to manage the size of full 4K files. Maybe once OLED becomes much more affordable then SKY might put more effort into the content
I had the issue with thumbnails missing I hardwired the box, turned all WiFi options off in the engineers panel and turned on ethernet restarted the boc and now its ok

Can you buy a Q box off ebay, plug it in and away you go? Or do you pay extra a month for something? I have the 4K TV, Fiber Broadband and SkyHD+ box but the warranty has run out and the HDD is on the way out again! Was wondering whether to stick an SSD in there or Sky Q or even better Sky Q with SSD!
zerocool as an existing customer, threaten to leave, they will give you the box and probaly knock some off your bill for 6 months. I done this annually for 10 years. before I actually departed from sky.

It's not 2.4k but sky transmits the lover of the 4k formats, just as it's HD isn't Full HD but 720p. 4k is 4096 x 2160, and sky don't use 4k and don't claim to, they use UHD (ultra HD) which is 3840 x 2160. Tbh your not going to be able to tell the diffence. Obviously you'll need a UHD or 4k tv, if you use a 1080 you'll just get a slight bump to a downscaled UHD to 1080p but it wouldn't be worth getting the extra UHD sub (I'm assuming it's an extra £10pm everything is with sky) over the HD sun you have, as the bump from 720p you get now on your 1080p, won't look any differnt, getting the downscaled 1080p your tv can handle. Lucky gorgeous you UHD tvs are now cheap(er) but I wouldnt bother arm, given there is so little content avalible arm. Also very soon they will be broadcasting in HDR, and for that you'll need a full 4k that also is HDR compatable. They are still expensive. But HDR content is worth the upgrade over 1080p tvs. I don't UHD is. Sorry for the long post.

with the "set reminder" i bitched about this on Sky Facebook page and after a good few days i got a reply from sky that was we have not set up the reminder function because it wouldn't know what box to flash the reminder to... bull just post it on all boxes that are on at the time i say.. also asked what about my favourites button... no reply.
Stephen Blake are you talking about a reminder when a show is airing or when recording? Surely the latter you have an idea about anyway and just check your series downloads? In terms of setting upcoming series. Today for eg modern family trailer came up with the press green button to set reminder and from that I was able to set it to record the upcoming new season. Hope that helps

I watch sports mainly (cricket) and i want to watch more 4k content as i have 4k tv and i want to get some value out of it.
Get mine installed shortly, got the normal Q box and mini box setup with broadband, don't really watch TV much anymore it's for the wife and she can barely tell the difference from SD HD or UHD so whats the point in getting UHD for her anyway pretty sure her opticians isn't doing the tests right cause she must be blind to not see the differences lol Don't like the virgin boxes i find them sluggish to scroll about and had to frequently power cycle to get them to come out of sleep mode, although the V6 is better than the old V box which was the most horrid performance of any DTV, and although it's still not fluid with the new V6 but atleast i don't have to power cycle it every week like the old box to get it to work. it annoys me so rather download to the computer and then stream to the TV.
i hear i can also get netflic or amazon tv or something like that or watch on blu ray, i have bt 4 subsricption on trial for the next 7 days and they only give me 1 channel on uhd, the sports 4 chanel and most of that is (domestic) english football, which i don't care about. i watch the champions league, but i don't want to pay extra £10 a month just for champions league especially if i can get it free on sky, as a existing and repeating bt broadband customer, also i cant watch any asian channel on bt tv and i have the big inconvenience of changing remotes to watch between sky and bt tv all the time, and i have 5 remote to keep along side me, before i only had 2, the sky one and the surround sound. thanks..

by 2:20 mark - what do you mean by reminder failing?
do you also have multi room as well? and do subtitles get downloade also when you do the sync to your phone/mobile device?
Does the SD and HD content look as good as with the Sky HD+ box?

I'm having the problem of the boxes not showing up with the image,a few do show up but not all.
allan allen sky are aware of this apparently from talking to them today. Reset my box and it fixed itself. Still connection issues are another matter.

If you press the record button again the remainder is the last option available.

Yes similar to the Old Sky Box, my engineer replaced the dish & LNB
