In 1990 at 22yo I bought my first car, a Honda Accord LX , 8 years later I gave it to my dad in great shape , 9 years later still running good he sold it to a young lady as her first car…..
The reality is that newer Honda Accords will not be as reliable due to the fact that they use turbocharged engines, and they simply don't last as long as normally aspirated engines, especially the small ones like 1.5 liter Honda engine. Sadly this trend seems to be hitting Toyotas, Hondas and others that are late model. Other issues are CVT's and complexity. You'll notice all the testimonials are on really old models.
Still drive my 2008 RAV4 and she has over 220,000 miles. First major repair was this fall i replaced the alternator. Bought her brand new off the lot and swore she would be the first and last car I ever bought. My mechanic said the Toyota RAV4 engines before 2009 last forever.
The number 1 reason a car last that many miles is regular maintenance. By the way there is a toyota tacoma somewhere down in texas i believe that has gone way beyond 1,000,000 miles, thats right beyond 1,000,000.
We have a 1996 Honda Odyssey that we bought in 1998 with 25,000 miles on it. Our son drove it in 2012 and 2013 when he was away at school. He now has been driving it for 2 years. On Thanksgiving 2024 it had 331,000 miles on it. Our son loves driving it so much that he doesn't want to give it back to us. It's the most enjoyable and comfortable vehicle that I've ever driven. I wish Honda still made them.
I have a 2014 Mazda6 266,000 mi. I have serviced this car with general maintenance no major issues and will continue driving it for many more years 4cyl naturally aspirated motor has been a great car
I have a 2012 Toyota Highlander and love it, it's nice for long trips.. I do change the oil every 5,000 miles and trans filter and fluid every 30,000 miles.
do you know why mechanics likes non complicated cars??? because they last longer low cost maintenance and easy repair… electronics cars today is just cheating buyers for more money at high cost of maintenance and complicated repairs, money innovations☹️☹️☹️
212,000 on my 2003 dodge grand caravan. Red paint didn’t do well in the Hawaiian sun. Needed $1900 of work after the rocks fell off the cliff and dented the hood and ripped off a shock and steering and wrecked 3 tires and rims. It’s led an amazing life 😂 😊
My brand new expensive Voyager needed transmission and motor work at 55,000 miles and then again just before 75,000 miles. I loved that van. I hated that van and traded it in the second time it needed major work.
I had a 2004 Cadillac Escalade with 320,000 miles when I sold it in 2016, only because it was to difficult for me into because of my knees. I bought it brand new and took very good care of it. I had absolutely NO problem with it and NO major issues EVER. If I could’ve continued to get into it easily I would’ve NEVER sold it and would be driving it to this day January 3, 2025. It was the most beautiful car I ever had.
My 2014 RAV 4 XLE has 261,000 miles and STILL going! Had to replace the Alternator and 2 wheel bearings in front. Just got a 2024 RAV 4 XLE Hybrid, but use the 2014 to commute to work when the weather is nasty here in PA.
My Toyota rav 4 xle has only lasted 11 years and needs a new torque converter and transmission costing more than it’s worth only 145 thousand km It suck’s
@cardiogirl798 yes your right about the xle on that year., I misconstrued the statement, read too quickly sorry. That's the only generation I didn't have and there wasn't an xle prior to it in the previous gens. I had. I do know that the 2013 had some issues with the trannies that first year of that gen.
My husband's is 16 years old Rav4 and still going my Venza is 14 years old never needed a repair till at 14 years one tire sensor went out that warns of air loss got it repaired outside of Toyota at 65.00 total with labor
I drove a "97 Rav4, then a 2010 Rav4 v6, and now a '16 Rav4 hybrid. Except for wreck damage I have never had a repair on the 3. We also drive an '11 Prius that has had only one repair......headlight refinishing.
Don't buy a Camry hybrid, my 50th Anniversary Camry Hybrid battery died @ 75K miles....... I loved that car, until that happened.... 47 days out of warranty, no less and yes, I performed regular maintenance at our local Toyota dealership in Memphis, where I bought the car. I now drive a Honda Touring CRV and love it!
I love my Subaru…112,000 miles (bought used with 84,000) and no breakdowns. I change the oil every 5000 miles and it just keeps going with no problems. Getting ready to buy a pickup and looking for a Toyota!p or Ford!
Yes the accord is a great car but too isn't it a magnet for car thieves? This seems like more of an ad for Japanese cars. I'd love the Prius if it stood higher for us older folks
I had a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero LTD (the full sized one) that lasted over 200k miles, loved it until it got stollen. It’s probably serving someone in another country well. 😢 I miss it a lot! Sadly Mitsubishi has stopped production, and declined in every conceivable way possible.

I'M LOOKING TO BUY A NEWER CAR IV'E BEEN THINKING ABOUT MAZDA 5 SUV WHAT DO YA'LL THINK?
@@pamchandler1867 Ditto here. Looking at CX 30 and CX 50. No hybrids or CVTs. Those CVT transmissions are planned obsolescence vehicles.
Welcome to the Toyota/Honda family hour. And kids, that’s what a car supposed to be.
1999 buick lasabre 3.8 423000 miles still daily driver
I had a 1984 Accord that was passed down to my daughter who showed me when it turned 250,000 miles. Loved that car!

There's a guy who made Guinness's World Records book; his Volvo P1800 sport coupe has logged over
3 MILLION miles !

First “major repair” was done this month. Needed to replace the alternator. still going strong!

As a friendly advice stay away from from any turbo engines these don’t last very long

The Accord shouldn’t be included. We had two and both transmissions blew one at 102k and another at 160k.
My 2008 YM Honda CRV done 650,000 kms
Mazda is a Japanese company.
wrong
@@NonoNonaawrong how? Last I knew Hiroshima was in Japan, and that is where Mazda headquarters is.
Mazda does have an assembly plant in Alabama and had a plant in Michigan. The Michigan plant closed in 2012.
I’d buy one, but only if it was made in Japan.

2008 Honda Accord 292000 miles with typical maintenance other than the air conditioner
539,000 on 1993 Honda & 361,000 on 2011 Kia Sorento. Both have original motor and transmission 😊
I have a 2010 jeep with 320,000. Miles and run great.
Yes, let's face it! These new vehicles are plastic, have CVT transmissions and will decline in reliability. Don't think twice about it!
You might want to re-check your editing. At 7:36 mark, in the middle of talking about the Mazda 3, you show a Kia driving.

Sadly, this isnt the truth anymore. Honda and toyota are having engine problems
I have a 2003 Honda pilot with over 207000 miles on it and a 2006 Toyota Camry with over 167000 miles on it. Both cars are running real well.
I have a 2003 Toyota Highlander with the camry engine - running strong at 212,000. I bought it new.
My 2002 6 cylinder Jeep Grand Cherokee is still going strong with 250K miles. I've had very few problems with it. It still does not burn oil.
I have a 1990 Toyota Camry, with 147,000 miles its a peach.
A close friend of mine always tells me how many miles his F150 is up to. He is at 300K and going strong.
Love Toyota and Lexus. Both brands are great!

Toyota quality has been in decline for the last ten years.
2015 and newer aren't the same quality as they used to make them
I would say the last 3-4 years.
I wish you could have included model years.
I'm seriously thinking about doing a second one, will include it there
