    What a selection you have. I'm looking for something portable like the Silca but its out of stock! Might go with the Wera 7400 (3.0-8.8 Nm) which is a pistol grip screw driver type. I can still pack that but it only starts at 3Nm. I think I want 2Nm starting point.

      @@thevelostudio7215 The way I understand torque wrenches is that they are best as they age being operating in the middle ratings and might not be as accurate at the bottom and top ratings. Having the lower rating just seems like doing 4-8nm would be optimal. Since I made my first comment I looked at the Park Tool TW-5 which is a popular choice and it starts at 3nm also. I'm sure that Wera 7400 would be great and the size is really nice.

      To cover all torque specs of a bike (1 - 60 Nm), you really need two: A 1/4-inch and a 3/8-inch square drive unit.
      You can also buy a preset or two to cover your most frequently covered torque specs, like 5 Nm on cockpits.

  • @tolga1cool
    @tolga1cool 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I have the Wera. It's allright but it has one major design flaw imho. The adjustability is wayyyyyy too fine. It only has a precision of +/-4%. I measured mine on calibrated torque wrench testing equipment and it was at the low end of the tolerance range. Given this relatively low amount of precision there is no point setting the torque in 0.1 Nm steps, when there could be an error of +/- 1Nm at the 25Nm setting.
    All this leads to ridiculous amounts of twisting when you need to readjust. Because remember. 0.1 Nm steps. 1Nm=1 360° rotation.... It gets old realllllllly quickly. Otherwise it's a good tool.

    • @thevelostudio7215
      @thevelostudio7215  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I envy you, wish I looked into getting a calibrated tester but is was cost prohibitive. Which one are you using??

    • @tolga1cool
      @tolga1cool 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thevelostudio7215 I tested it on a Hazet 7903E as well as on the 7901E. They are not mine though. As you said, the cost of these is a tiny bit prohibitive for the home shop... We have both at work (Automotive OEM) and use them at our prototype workshop where the early prototypes are assembled and tested and the torque values have to be on point.
      If documentation and high precision is required we even have the same machines that get used during production that automatically tighten to the desired torque and document the torque and angle for every single bolt.

    I just purchased one from Amazon Italy which looks very similar to the “amazon bike torque wrench” at 9min into your video. The manufacturer is Vanpo and the engineering and quality of the tool is excellent. But I cannot make it trigger. I wrote to the vendor WiWu who immediately sent me another and I can’t make it trigger either. So the problem must be me. I just do not hear or feel a click when tightening a test bolt even at 2.5 Nm. What am I doing wrong? I don’t want to touch my bike with it until I can make it work.
