Excellent video. After nearly 6 years of faithful service, I finally gave my machine a full teardown and clean thanks to this video! The machine runs so much better, it was full of dried coffee at the front spout area, in addition to scale in the internal pipes.

Thanks to your video, I was able to access the actuator switch and come up with a way to get the max cup size to work again. I was gradually having to press harder and harder to get it to work. While I don't have this exact model, it helped me to get into my machine. Arigato gozaimasu.

Maybe of help to others. Our machine had significant leakage into the pod collector tray. I bought a new replacement (Pod unit - not sure of it's name). the new genuine unit also leaked. Being converse in removing this unit I did some checks to see exactly where it leaked from & ascertained that it was the front of the pod not the back & it was after going through the pod.
Not being one to ever concede defeat I again removed the unit & on close inspection I found that both the new & the old had poor moldings of the round perforater disk (this is easily popped out with a small screwdriver), the poor molded edge was minimal but meant that the perforater disk did NOT seal properly to the non pod side, there was enough space to allow it to significantly leak into the tray.
I removed it, carefully smoothed it with wet & dry (1200 grade) & resembled it. It does NOT need any sealer paste as shown in this video & it is now absolutely perfect, not a drop leaks! It was in fact leaking around 20% previously, chocolate pods were pretty much unusable. Certain pod brands also accentuate any leakage.

Very detailed, useful video guide! Highly appreciated it! Btw, I have realized an injection molding error (do not know the right English term) at coffee outlet, where the 4 small holes are, which I've broke down to avoid further plugging. With my machine the half of the coffee landed in the capsule container due to dry coffee grounds in the outlet. Well cleaned and its working properly again.

Steve did you have one of the light tan colored couplings where the water lines go in and out of the thermo unit crack and leak? Mine will froth milk no problem but I’m not getting any pressure/water to the coffee side and found a crack in one of those couplers was going to try and replace it. Looks like you need to go basically all the way apart to open that black shell around the thermo unit to replace them?

This was the best video I have seen. I was stupid and I I pulled the connector from the housing on the board together off, your video at 3.23, do I need to solder back the housing? My housing was beige, almost the same color as the white connector. Your housing is black and the connector white. I was kind of proud and then this last steps of assembling I realized I was not careful enough. I started watching you video after I had pulled the housing of the board together with the housing. I watched another guy and he was just pulling on the side with pliers, i did the same, and obviously wrong.

Thank you for the super detailed video, my machine turned into an ants nest and needed a deep clean - can be pretty confident now it's any free!
Side note - once he shows it down to the plastic frame, you can actually separate the bottom from the 'tower' piece. There are some little clips holding it on at the back and up inside under the milk thing (where the rescaling attachment goes) on the side walls. Get those undone and the thing should just slide apart into a bottom plate and a 'tower'.

For those people who have problem either with frothing issue, or leaking issue on just about any Nespresso Delonghi especially EN 520 model, I have after disembowelling my machine came to conclusion that spending unnecessary money buying new parts will NOT fix your problem. As far as the leak is concern, there is a black rubber o'ring inside in the extractor. That is the black cylinder where the coffee comes out of. The new o' ring you will NOT buy anywhere separately. The size I put in was 32mm (ID) 2.2mm thickness. Take the extractor out and with a brush clean it up well and maybe use a shop compressor to blow all the inlets and outlets and REPLACE the o'ring. As far as the frother or unsatisfactory amount of foamy milk, the problem is NOT inside the unit. I took the frother apart. There is NOTHINg inside except plastic tubing and washers. Your problem is that the machine is not pushing enough steam to go through the frother in order to push the milk up under correct temperature. After fucking around with the frother for several months I am getting more frothet milk than ever before, by cleaning inside pipes in the machine, because frothing is not a mechanical function, but rather hot steam under high pressure. Watch the plastic clear tube inside in the frother. It must NOT have any bubbles going up during the process. It has to be full and constant.

Hello everyone I wanted to reply to your message after I repaired 30 De'Longhi 520 550 560 machines. I mean my experience with these de 'Longhi coffee machines are the best for me for many reasons.
1.you have a small machine that can make all coffee and cappuccino with the possibility of putting the milk tank in the fridge to make a good cappuccino the milk must be of good quality and the temperature of the De'Longhi fridge can give you this experience without problems.
2.You can do the maintenance and repair by yourself without any problem very easy to disassemble. This is a great advantage.
      3. the only pieces you have to change are the two thermostats that are used to bring the high temperature water for the cappuccino foam and they cost € 5 per thermostat This means that you have to spend € 10 when you find the problem for everything else they are only of little secrets.
!!!now he wants to explain the main secrets of coffee machines no matter which one used!!!
the worst enemy of coffee machines and tap water What is full of limescale.
so use bottled water from the store so the coffee machine can last you much longer.
so use bottled water from the store so the coffee machine can last you much longer.
the only maintenance that you have to do every now and then is to disassemble the capsule block, clean it well and use the grease for the rubber rings so the machine works perfectly

Just sorted my leak by stripping down as far as 15 mins into the video. Had this machine for five years and regularly descaled when the light illuminated. Despite descaling there is a lot of gunk that can't be cleaned out properly unless you strip down - if I had an o ring to hand I would have changed that too, although the one in there now I've cleaned it all out seals fine. Everything cleaned in soapy water with a toothbrush, put it all back together and works perfectly again. Took 20 mins using this video so thank you! As for a washer replacement, I can only find 32mm (ID) by 2mm or 2.5mm online. I'd probably go for the 2.5mm if I had to choose. Thanks HardwareVip and Leo.
