My entire family has always followed this traditional style of mixing/ grinding. We hail from Karnataka. Believe me, the dishes turn out so much more authentic & delicious than modern day mixers/ grinders & blenders. There is some magic in those traditional utensils that no modern day utensil/ gadget can ever replace.

Grand MA is a magician. So perfect in cutting veg. on her palm with soothing sounds of the utensils is amazing. Very hard working in this age.

The taste of Doshas & Idlis are far far much better when the rice & dal are grinded in the hand stone grinder including the coconut chutney. The batter & chutney becomes fluffy with hand grinding. When before the mixies arrived in the market the ladies used to grind the batter with hand on the hand stone grinder at home ! Now we cannot even imagine it.
