TBH, I was hoping you'd make note of whether or not the pivot is free-spinning. I think I remember other reviewers taking it apart and finding it to be so, but since your review has come out a bit later, I thought it'd be interesting to see if this was updated or not.

Call me crazy but I kinda like the way the button is held in place compared to something like the Malibu. I find the Malibu a pain sometimes to reassemble but if the last thing I did was insert the button even after the liner maybe that would be easier? Would be curious how you would compare the disassemblies Nick

Hey Nick. I've had this knife on my radar so hoping it turns out to be a gem. Out of curiosity, how does the fidget friendliness of this button lock compare to that of the Spyderco compression lock? In particular, how do the detents compare?

Which compression lock knife are you referring to?

@@bigjake6foot5 More specifically, I'm asking about the detent. I'm assuming that the compression lock is generally extremely similar to a liner lock in terms of detent and deployment. I'm also assuming that lock access is irrelevant, because that can vary so much from model to model and also be changed through modification (i.e. the CME). Because I've heard that the compression lock detent strength is weaker on the Tai Chung models, I'll just use the Lil' Native as a reference point since it's a Colorado made model (which I assume would also mean stronger detent) and because it is a knife I may consider splurging on (the Astute is the only Spyderco model I have, but I also have a Byrd Tern slipjoint with the wire clip). I guess what I'm trying to compare is action between various finger safe locks (ex: compression lock, shark lock, axis lock, button lock, etc.).

@@chefboiarby304 button locks and compression locks are all different. I would caution generalizing a detent strength with a specific plant because they varry. I personally prefer my Malibu and Brown FSD compared to my PM2 but there's a lot that goes into that. The best thing you can do is find a local dealer and go in and play with a bunch of stuff. Or travel to a knife/gun show. You can always just buy a bunch to compare and resell but that's not budget friendly 😂

@@chefboiarby304I have one and the detent sucks. Not a satisfying deployment at all which defeats the purpose of it being a good fidget knife. If you don’t hit the flipper tab with enough force it won’t open all the way. The thumbstuds suffer a bit from the weak detent as well. It’s a nice knife otherwise just not as satisfying a fidget knife as you would expect. I’ve read other complaints regarding the weak detent.

@@dataclast Is it more comparable to a crossbar lock version of a detent than an actual detent ball based on that? I have a CJRB Crag with the Recoil lock which essentially is just a crossbar lock that requires almost what you said with regard to the Sachse (full force on the flipper tab in order to successfully open).
