I always enjoy watching your disassembly videos. Please never change! It brings me great joy, not just to mock your suffering when you yeet screws and springs, but to know another human is just as bad as this as me and that I’m not the only one yeeting my totally unnecessary and expensive knife parts around my home. Keep it up Nick!

I've realized that I like pb washers over bearings. I'd rather have a broken in smooth pb action than drop shutty bearings. Kinda like manual over automatic. It looks like Flytanium is doing a better job lately, fit finish and milling look pretty nice

Not universally, but in a lot of cases I'm starting to look at bearings in the same vein as "assisted" opening.
It's a whole lot easier to just throw some bearings on a heavy blade than it is to use some nice thin stock and properly tune the lockbar.

I prefer pb washers too. Drop shut action is overrated IMO, and washers just are lower maintenance. I also roll out my knives rather than flick them out...No need to be "fast" lol.

I thought this seemed too simple to feature in a video. But then I remembered the delicatessence of the knife's construction

Getting my delica 4 K390 from Amazon Thursday. I am so stoked. Already have the tenacious, pm2 crucarta and R2D2

I just got brass and copper for my k390 wharnie, just watchin before I do it, I have had many custom delicas but it’s been a few years

I wanted to do this with CF but I backed off because it said won't work on Lightweight models which I didn't know whether my k390 was. Thanks for this. Seeing how the liner lays in the pocket, I should be able to drill the other side for lefty too, that was the other thing holding me back.

I really need to get a delica the k390 version is priced so temptingly and I definitely want the flytanium backspacer to fix that common issue with the delica.

I know you said don't get into watches but couldn't help notice the fine square watch reminiscent of Bell Ross on you wrist.

You missed out transferring the pivot screw's washer over. It is still stuck on the FRN scale.

I was wondering: Would it be advisable/okay to add the new flytanium scales to a endura 4 but keep the plastic spacer that came with the FRN handle? If anyone would be kind enough to answer my query............

Hey Nick, do you think I may be able to loosen the tri-ad lock spring screw on my cold steel to make the lock a little easier to use? As it is now its so hard that Mt fingers hurt using it and I don't even want to carry the knife, which is a shame cause I like the knife.

    • @senoB
      @senoB 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Don't think that works. Probably have to bend the leaf spring (that little flat bent bar under the lock) to lessen the tension. Second mod would be to use a metal file to take the corners off the lockbar where you push on it - can round/crown the edges to make even more comfortable.
Lastly loosen pivot screw to where you want it and use a light thread locker and do Not forget to lubricate washers and lockbar/tang interface on the curve of blade tang.

Very nice but those things added actually are the same price as the knife. Not very useful. Steel gets cold in winter. the rails are just a bling thing.

I have no idea why anyone would prefer plastic scales on any folder. They feel and look so cheap. I know they are sold as “lightweight” versions of great folders, or as a way to cut down on cost for an overpriced, but well designed, mid-range folder like the Delica.
Then people on TH-cam rave about them as if the extra ONE OUNCE (or less) between the cheap plastic and nice (milled) titanium or carbon fiber, or even G10, makes that big of difference or the plastic is that easier to carry, when in fact the difference is negligible. Even in gym shorts.
IMO cheap, plastic scales are just a way to sell folder designs with cheaper materials, at a cheaper price. That’s all. Just a way to sell to those that don’t want to pay a higher prices of the base or higher priced models, or to sell to knife owners by marketing them as having some sort of real world advantage, when in practice they have little or none.

Try using a metal knife in Winter. The handles get cold af. This is purely a money maker for Spyderco. Bling! nothing more.
