Don't forget the shopping carts that idiots throw in the canals. They congregate behind them. I'm a native born arizonan and I am the canal ninja! Lol! If I had a vehicle I'd meet up and share some of my favorite spots. Been doing it for my whole life and I turn 69 in April. I also worked on the CAP PROJECT, and it has lots of fish brother. Tight lines! Of course you know that they hang out under the bridge too I assume?
I would gladly come pick you up if you would show me a few spots. I just moved here and im struggling adjusting from fishing mountain rivers and creeks to urban canals.
@@Ashen2437 where you located at? I'm a little bit out of town, at Riggs and Alma school road in Chandler but there's canals near me and lots in Phoenix where I grew up. Born here and been fishing this state as long as I can remember. Screwed up and said I was 69, but I am just turned 60. Hit me up brother and let's catch some fish! I'll bring the herb if you are able to enjoy it. I'll bring it either way I don't leave home without some. Let me know anytime.
@azfisher didn't know that but I was helping build the thing and figured we'd be able to fish in there. That sucks because that's coming straight from the Colorado River and I know there's fish in it. Shame we can't fish in it
Great video man! Missed the content I know its been rough here in AZ, I've been riding home with the skunk at local spots and canyon lake recently. The canal is been better than anywhere else for me!
Yeah bro, many of YTers have had a hard time producing content all across the country; too hot, flooding, extreme drought water levels, etc. Good to see ya get on some. I have had mixed results with some zero days and the following week I will get 8 urban creek fish. My local lake has been inconsistent too. The bite seems to reflect the weather patterns; from one extreme to another. Like that chunky one at the 4:30ish mark. Peace from SoCal. Very interesting about Tilapia. I was taught that they were vegetarians but seems like they are opportunistic like many other species.
Just a fyi, I caught a 4 lb largie at that exact area in the middle where you said there weren’t any bass. Chartreuse spinner at about 9pm on a full moon. Also, oddly enough I caught a huge carp on a white rooster tail just below that waterfall. Both are the biggest fish I’ve pulled from this canal, but there’s tons of 2lbers in there.
I don’t bother during the day to much in the middle, at night of course worth a shot tho. The water cools and the full moon drags them into feeding mode.
@@SouthwestFishing Thanks for your reply! May I know how many fishes you think it's a typical type we can get usually in an hour? I went a couple times and I usually stay for around 1 hour but I always get nothimg😂
Man, I'm fired up. Are the canals in the east valley better than those in the west valley? Where can you park. In the early 50's my dad used to take me fishing and frogging in the canalas. That was nack when they were not concrete and had lots of brush on the sides. He also taught me how to get fireants to fight each other :-)
The ones on the east valley do tend to be better, the canals I fish used to be just dirt they just recently turned them all into concrete in the last 10 to 15 year it’s a shame.
@@SouthwestFishing thanks for the reply man. I'll have to give Phoenix canals a go. I'm from Tucson and don't know of a lot of spots in Phoenix for bass fishing.
@@koreygregory527I haven't been able to get out fishing since coming to Phoenix. I would love some guidance on some good locations. Never tried these canals.
Yes like the Canels that I try fishing are full of drug addicts and feel very unsafe so I tend to go to open parks instead you have a very good point. I didn’t think about that
Solid bass for urban fishing. Kudos to you for landing on the light rod/line and of course pocketing your done plastic!
Nice video. Some stout healthy looking fish as well. Mixed bag with the tilapia, always fun.
Nice video. It’s funny I used to see people fishing canals and think they were crazy but now I know who was crazy 😜
LOL canals can be awesome fishing! Thank you for the watch!
Some good ol canal fishing! Great vid bro!
Thank you brotha 🤙
Love the urban pedestrian bank fishing keep up the good work.

Thanks for sharing this - I grew up in Phx, didn’t know you could fish the canals. Looks like a good time, and some nice fish!
They are a ball! I have another canal video going up today at 5pm!
@@SouthwestFishing do you remember where in Phoenix this spot is?

CAP canals are restricted to no fishing. SRP allows their canals to be fished

Thanks a bunch for the Canal fishing video. Nice catches. I'm going down size on my bait size and hooks for better results. Stay safe.
