The reason the bite may have slowed is because of where you were releasing the fish. You should release them off the opposite side of the boat. Doesnt seem like a huge difference but it's enough to keep them from getting wary

The canals in my part of Mesa have just started flowing again after being cut off for periodic canal repairs. The water is just barely moving so it's crystal clear with no signs of life. Not even carp. I guess they don't put the carp back in until there's actually enough of whatever they eat starts growing back. I guess there just hasn't been enough time for a new batch of other species of fish to make their way into these freshly restarted canal flows.
