  • HIP MOBILITY FOR CYCLISTS | Hip flexibility and tightness relief for athletes
If you do not use it, you lose it. Or that is at least how your body functions: if you don't lift weights or if you don't ride your bike, you lose muscle mass and fitness respectively.
The same happens for your joints!
Cycling requires so little hip movement. Outside of a minimal amount of uniplanar flexion-extension, the hips barely move in any other direction; no rotation, adduction, abduction, and no end-range flexion or extension.
For this reason, it is very common to see cyclists with very limited hip mobility. While this might not necessarily cause injury on the bike, it is detrimental to just about every activity and movement off the bike.
For any regular cyclist, a regular routine to keep the hips mobile and healthy is fundamental to long-term function and health.
Daily for best results :) but even once or twice a week with this routine goes a long way!

I believe you are meant to be healthy ... you just have to know how to meet the requirements: nutrition, movement, recovery and an optimal Brain-Body Connection.
Whether we are talking performance on or off the bike, these are what your body needs to get the job done and this channel is my attempt to my the cycling community that I love dearly to perform to their best, stay healthy on and off the bike and to have lots of fun along the way.
If you live or work in Toronto, or beyond, and are open to getting some help and following me along my journey to bike (fast) until my final days, I hope you will subscribe and join me.

Awesome video Cycling Doc. I'm glad my colleague Jonathan B told me about you. I've been away from the bike for a while, and had been thinking of a fit soon. Will contact you. Cheers.
