    Thanks for this. I had sound but no picture on mt LT-40C890. After watching this video, my son was confident enough to take the back off the set, check the connections and retry the set. Lo and behold, it worked. As in your video, my set obviously had a faulty connection. Thanks for saving me the cost of a callout and repair. I'm very grateful.

      Thank you but I’m sad to say that will be only a temporary fix. The TV will need a new set of backlights soon.

    Having taken a punt on a bargin basement broken LT-43C890 I was prepared to replace backlights/power board/mainboard. I came across your video and took some measurements and all seemed ok. I tried your recommendation to reconnect all power leads and exactly as your video it jumped into life. One comment i would say on your videos though is if you could explain your testing procedures a little more in detail, where to get best schematic, what to zone in on to narrow down the issues and specify the multimeter settings and component your testing and why.

    36 backlights. 10x2 + 8x2. Great diagnostics.

    Wish I lived near Cornwall. my JVC (LT-43C890) has just gone t1ts up and it's the backlights (but watching this it COULD just be a loose connection)
    not sure this is something I can tackle as I don't own a multimeter so no way to actually check - guess I need to need to find a tv repair guy or girl in Kent, near London, that is NOT going to cost the earth (or it will be cheaper to buy a new tv LOL) I possibly could take the back off and just push the connectors in in case that will fix it.
    should I leave the tv unplugged for a couple hours before I do this (bear in mind I'm not 100% sure what I'm doing with this tv repair malarky but can push connectors back in) as I'm presuming this would allow capacitors to discharge or does this not matter as I'm not poking around and just need to make sure it's not plugged in.
    just curious - what setting do you recommend for JVC tv that the backlights be on as you said, well, hinted, that sport + 100% was going to burn them out in a year LOL

    My experience with the Currys "JVCs" was terrible - back in 2016 I bought one and it hadn't even been made right, I seem to remember it had a bit of gasket foam going in front of the screen, so I took it back and they gave me another one which changed inputs on its own, so I took *that* back and chose to get a "Panasonic" as a replacement (which now turns itself back on if not turned off at the wall). Of course, I later found out they were all Vestels...

    • @themlotproductions
      @themlotproductions ปีที่แล้ว

      Cannot vouch for Currys at all. Personal experience has led me to believe that the business model is capitalist rather than customer based. I purchased a new computer that turned out to be used! It took three months, a small claims application and MP involvement to gain my refund.
      Untrained staff work in all areas - including repairs. Furthermore, a TV I repaired, after Currys had declared it unrepairable, sported a self tapping screw that extended from the rear cover and into the backlight diffuser! Clearly somebody had replaced the wrong screw type to secure the rear cover - and could do simple diagnostics either!
      Avoid Currys IMO.

    hi mate ive came across this issue with about 5 tvs similier models to yours same psu , when u put your tester on the lights and ligfht them up and try the tv it comes on it lasts about a week and goes back off. ive fixed a few by replacing the psu others i needed to change the leds full set as i could not find any bad ones. its very strange i do recon its eather the psu fault or the little diode on the the leds that fails. have you had any other info on this mate thanks

    • @allenfleckney5969
      @allenfleckney5969  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. I’ve been meaning to do an update as I thought it was the psu as that seems to get them going again for a few weeks , but last year we paid attention to the strip contacts and found the copper elements on the end of the strips , usually the top strip had a small black pitted hole. Simply re- tin the contacts and push them back in the sockets and they work again as they should. It’s just bad contacts that start to arc.

      @@alden5903 guessing you have tested the led strips and they work with the screen etc off so you have the led strips showing on one side there will be a green connection strip that the leds strips plug into
      You will see the pub traces on the green strip scrap some off so copper is showing then bridge the connector so put a link between the green strip and the led strip also make sure there is no connection midway on each strip as you will need to link them as well
