Terrain: wooded paths, countryside, through Pamplona, sidewalks, little villages.
Accommodation: Hostel at Maneru

Total miles completed: 55/500
💰Costs: €10 taxi to first place & she didn’t charge me for the next drop off.
€9 supermarket shop - crisps, banana, sweets, strawberries 🍓, hummus, naked bars. €14 bed = €33
Challenges: Finding accommodation- 2 Albergues closed, needed to walk another 4 miles, the next place was full, taxi to another albergue - also full. The taxi lady then called a hostel for me and booked me a bed before dropping me off. I’m sorted for tonight - which is great. I’ve also managed to book for tomorrow night - which is a relief!
Highlights: gorgeous views and amazing weather. 🥳

Start time: 7am taxi collection, started walking at 7.30am
To: Villatuerta

Terrain: rocky uneven steep descents, country paths and roads, little villages, concrete paths and a little road walking
Accommodation: albergue 🛏️
Food: banana, apple, tangerine 🍊 x2, crisps, dried cranberries & dried pineapple 🍍

🦶Steps: 44,427
Total miles completed: 76/500
💰Costs: taxi 🚕 €23, €19 bed = €42
Subjective feeling out of 10 on:
Enjoyment: 8/10 - great weather and knowing I had a bed to stay in makes all the difference
Fatigue: 6/10 - felt more tired as the day went on. Legs are starting to feel it
Ease of terrain: 7/10 - some tougher sections today, some small steep uphill climbs and some long rocky descents.
Challenges: thought I’d lost my sunglasses 😢but I’d left them in the taxi, so got them back in the morning. I forget to collect my strawberries & red pepper that id prepared as a snack the evening before so it got thrown away. 👎
Highlights: stunning weather, seemed a little bit quieter out walking, not as many people.

It's amazing you coped with the heat. Back in May 2023, it was roasting. I doubt I would have managed 5 miles! No wonder you were a bit discombobulated and forgetting stuff!

I do actually love the heat - I'm a massive fan - I've done Marathon des Sables before, where you run 6 marathons in days across the Sahara desert.However, the one thing that I forgot this time was electrolytes - I normally take them in tablet form!!!!

I lost my sunglasses on day 2 along with my hat…taken by a 80km+ wind whilst crossing the Pyrenees 🤦‍♀️
Just out of interest what do you have attached to the strap of your rucksack?

Wow!! Big winds!!!! I was lucky with the weather. I have a ZOLEO satellite communication device attached to my pack. It’s basically allowed me to be in contact with home. Where ever I am in the world. As long as I have line of sight to the sky. It also shares my location with family. Plus if there is an emergency I can press an SOS button and get help. I’m testing it out for my big challenge at the end of the year. Which is walking in New Zealand 🇳🇿 which is going to be a lot more remote.

I was in the south of spain in May and I thought the heat was just perfect but i wasn't walking. ~April might be better? Or even March. Do people do it in march I wonder. So good to see your break down, feel like I'm being prepared.

Enjoying your Camino vlog. We are starting our Camino October 1 and hope to do similar mileage. I was thinking of starting a vlog so our family can follow along. What program do you use to edit. I will only be using an iPhone. Thanks!

that's awesome!! I'm so excited for you. It will be interesting to see what the weather is like in October. With the weather how it's been - it could be an incredible month. I do all my editing in iMovie - which is the free program on Mac. I don't know how to edit on iPhone. Maybe think about doing TH-cam Shorts or IG reels - that may be another option to consider?
