For the first time in a while, I prayed to God. I prayed this morning for clarity regarding a situation that ended not so well. Many of the gems that were dropped in this video gave me the answer to my prayer. So thank you ladies for being vessels. I just discovered this podcast and I think I'm going to stick around. Love from Florida❤️

It has been so challenging finding a podcast by Christian young women that is real and raw and calls out the toxicity that this culture accepts and applauds. Thank you so much for your wisdom, advise and platform. It is helping so many women, including myself.

To the dilemma writer: As an Asian, the concept of eyes being too big just doesn't exist!! I think it's great to reframe things you see as flaws or "undesirable" in your eyes or your culture as something to be viewed as extremely desirable to someone else or another culture.
Family can be very critical and dating (especially online dating) can take a HUGE toll on a person's self esteem, so I think it's so important to have a solid circle of friends who love you and hype you up and remind you of your beauty and your self worth.
Just on the off chance that this is relevant to you - if you're making any self-derogatory jokes/remarks or just giving off an air of being insecure about your looks, men will absolutely pick up on that. If you're comfortable or content in your looks or even just confident in your character (if you prefer not to focus on looks at all), that self-confidence will make you 100% more attractive.

I think it's fitting to acknowledge that people's beauty standards are influenced by what they have been told by other people. And because of this we all fall victim perpetuating those biases further. We are not born seeing the ugly in people ,that's something we're taught and unfortunately that's what we carry and pass on to others . It's a vicious cycle .

lm not a Christian but I really do appreciate you ladies bringing faith into discussions of self worth and doing the inner work bc our faith traditions offer so much tools and frameworks that help us understand our worth as human beings - irrespective of the standards and labels of worth that society throws at us

When Courtney said that we find it hard to be the main character in our lives because we often don't show up for ourselves, "this is IT!!* in renee's voice lol. I find that I struggle so hard focusing purely on me and what I want because I dont trust my own words or my own promises to myself. Its crazy to think that I show up everyday for others time and time again and cant seem to put myself on that same pedestal. Praying to God for a change in my mindset because it is HIGH time. like you said, I envision the woman that I want to be, I just have to practice every day showing up as her. I find that overtime, it can only ADD to my confidence in myself. I loved every bit of this episode. I find that I replay your podcasts over and over throughout the week because there are always hidden gems!!

I felt really low today in my own self worth, and I usually don’t, but got very depressed about how I “used” to look so good and I just feel “ugly” now, I told God I know I’m supposed to go to the bible to feel better but I just don’t want to bc I feel it’s always the same verses and I don’t really believe I’m fearfully and wonderfully made… so he showed me your video to speak to me, blessed thank you

i really love the way y’all redefined “main character energy” in a positive way! i’ve always seen “main character syndrome” defined in a self absorbed, narcissistic way. but y’all gave it the balance it needed by simply framing it as being ACTIVE in walking the authority of living as YOURSELF. embracing ourselves as we are and nurturing our wellbeing is the soul care we need on a daily basis 🤎
side note: “this is it” has been my favorite catchphrase thus far but Renee sprinkling in “at BEST” is GOLDENNN 😂
    another great episode sisters! 🤎

  • @realvibekilla3344

I love how being the main character means reclaiming our agency in directing our own life, which also means holding ourselves accountable and responsible for our own transgressions. Its such a diff conception from all these toxic positivity messages that negate the need for checking yourself as well. Being the main character is also so so useful for me as a WoC, I always find myself making myself smaller or trying not to take up so much space so that I dont shock people when Im not in spaces that arent made for me. But thinking of myself as the main character allows myself to get out of a defensive/victim mentality mode and be unapologetic about who I am and what I can contribute. Thank you sisters for sharing this concept!

at 21:52 when the sisters were talking about how we develop our own self-image (internal dictionary) from what we’ve been called by our parents; i’d also like to add that children also pick up self-image from what we’ve seen/heard our parents call themselves… 😬

This was a good episode. I have been learning to walk in main character energy since the start of the year. It is definitely a journey but one that is worth every second! To any person reading this the work might be hard but it is worth it!
Fav thing from this video was that you can’t get your value externally because the goal post is always moving.

Whenever i think of the term 'main character energy' my mind takes me to a great show/anime. They always have a character sheet. After that something clicked in me. I can make a character sheet for my own life! For those who watch anime or any show or game in general there's always a wiki or drawing of them and their attributes. Ladies, consider making a character sheet. Especially those who loves to do art!! Do it in a journal, add your picture, collage or draw it all if you are able. Make it unique and quirky. Add your emotional, spiritual, social, physical or mental attributes. Balance out the sheet with adding the good and toxic traits. The best part is nobody has to see it except for you! You can add all the time where you've gained "experience points" in your life. For those who see things more visually, this can help! Go all out. Write boundaries about your character and most of all be extremely honest with yourself.
I really love this episode ladies. Thank you for your contribution 🎈

One thing I've learnt is, it's okay to want to change yourself. It's ok to feel insecure at times and accept that you are feeling insecure. It's okay to have a way you want to look and work towards that imagine. It's okay to know that you are not at your best right now and you can be even better. It's all about working towards your ideal self with love. You can't hate yourself into your ideal self but you can love yourself every step of the way. If you want the small waist, love every part of your weight loss/gain journey. In loving yourself you will then make the active decision to do what's best for YOU. Positive Change can enhance one's confidence.

Couldn’t agree more. Loving yourself in the process of progression is so, so key and it’s fine to balance that with working towards being better. Thanks girl! ❤️

Ladies, thank you so much for this episode. Earlier on today, I had a triggering encounter with a extended family member, because I was raised by them an not my actual parents it cuts a little deeper. Although I’m much older now the incident I had earlier took me back to being a child raised in a family were I was of lesser value than their biological children.
I had on a video about weight loss on in the background but wasn’t really tuned into it because i had a lot on my mind. I’m not sure if this video started playing after it through auto-play but I’m glad it did. As someone who isn’t religious, even I might consider it to be a bit more than a coincidence, the letter that you read was very relatable and your advice was exactly what I needed to hear. Your words are truly helping people. Thank you.

My first beginning of body image issues started in 3d to 10th grade because other kids body's looked skinny and I had a belly.
Had nothing to do with social media. I think kids need education about different peoples body's and why that is and that it is okay to have different body's and your worth is not on a type of body or size of a body.
