While Zeonic Translations has translated X Astray, Destiny Astray, Delta Astray and Frame Astray mangas. Further more the VS Astray photo novels are free to read in English in the official Gundam Seed Astray website. However, a large majority of the novels and photo novels such as Astray B and Destiny Astray R are still not translated. And the conclusion to the entire Astray story, Princess of the Sky, only has it's prologue chapter translated in English, though Chinese translations can be found fairly easily.
This doesn't really follow the whole "Coordinators are better" thing... But it's only a few naturals that can control a Gundam better than a coordinator anyway, so it's not THAT bad... The designs and characters are really creative with this side of the series, but obviously the production team is not the same people. It should be though. It makes sense these people would have more of a personality because they're living like pirates. They're "free" from war and don't have actual homes.
the side stories of Gundam SEED Astray are much more entertaining than the main SEED and SEED Destiny stories, haha. And if you don't already know it, the Red Frame pilot Lowe is the one who saved a unconscious Kira in SEED after Athrun blew up his Gundam, as shown in the Seed Astray manga, although the anime doesn't bother explain any of that story, why Kira finally woke up in Lacus's care in PLANT.
I like this more than the actual series...seed and destiny is good but this thing is different. No immortality cheats, no recycled fight scenes and pilots are not just flying bots waiting to be shot by the protagonist, they are actually fighting back
Man... If only Astray had his own show. Astray is such an unique concept. The characters are easy to relate. the tone is light. The mobile suits are cool but not OP. It would be a different take from philosophy and politic conflict that usually becomes the main theme of Gundam Series. Just a group of mercenary and junk collector, passing by while kicking some ass.

Serpent Tail isn't about killing anyway, since all they are after are the mobile suit parts to sell so they can make a living, similar to what Junk Guild does. Even against Harrison (Sword Calamity) Gai will only engage him using his Blue Frame to keep the killer busy while his crew exits the space zone safely with the recovered GINN.
Because Gundam Astray is just an MSV version of Strike Gundam. Sunrise's purpose was to use the same frame of Strike Gundam to sell more Gunpla kits. They won't do unnecessary anime when the Gunpla has already been sold well.
@3DayRespawn, Gundam Astray Red Frame and Blue Frame are not strike gundam's variants but they are two of five prototypes developed by ORB from Earth Alliance's G Project's data (which strike gundam is one of gundams in the project). Astray development's purpose is to allow Naturals able to pilot it while most gundams actually that only Coordinators, Extended Humans and Newtypes can pilot them well.
I think a more light hearted space pirate kind of anime in this universe would be a huge breathe of fresh air to Gundam. It would be way better than a lot of the bloated like war plots.
i remember in Seed, there was a cameo of the Junk Guild's ship, helping out the 3 ship alliance... either that or the one i saw was just a typical cornelius type ship....

I love the Astray series because it shares the same “scavenger world” feeling with After War Gundam X. I couldn’t care less about the “Coordinator vs. Naturals” bullshit.
Morisawa purposely ruined the Destiny series for the sake of pissing of the VAs. It wasn't the original plan but there was a fight behind the scenes. Fukuda and Morisawa also were pretty leisurely when it comes to production and often times left the studio floating dead on the water waiting for them to do their job (Morisawa is the writer and Fukuda is the creator). This is why Gundam 00 is my Seed Destiny. it has the same premise and the characters are the same. Setsuna being Shinn. Lockon being Kira. Alelujah/Halelujah being Mu/Neo and Tiere being Athrun. TSA is just Celestial Being. They all have overpowered and advanced mobile suits (well 3 in the case for SEED Destiny and Destiny isn't that overpowered since it is just a Perfect Strike with Voiture Luminiere pack instead of Aele strike pack). I think the reason why Astray will never be greenlit is due to Fukuda not wanting Destiny to be topped and as well as his wife Morisawa dying. (she is the one that purposely derailed the story of SD if i hadn't stressed that enough). Also majority of the gundam in Astray are the same model, just different frame colours. Nothing else. People have joked about how they are just the powerranger squad of gundam. Same gundams with different packs.

In my opinion, the reason why seed and seed destiny are two of my favorite gundam series is because I just love the way they animated them and also because my first gunpla was a gold plated (not gold injected) oowashi akatsuki gundam which I still have. I also like them for the music they used which I found to be very beautiful sometimes. Please don't hate on me, I'm just stating my honest opinion because they're what got me into different gundam series.

Plus this is the exact same video that has been fansubbed many years ago when the original HG Red and Blue Frames were released (the ones this year were actually upgraded versions of previous releases together with the HG Gold Frame Amatsu).

Even if such a sequel movie is possible, there are chances that it might have to dive in with the Astray VS Astray storyline (about the Librarians and their CHCs) which falls into the CE75 timeline. If that happens, it would be a big problem because of the antagonists will be from there and possibly involve all 5 main characters: Kira, Athrun, Shinn, Lowe and Gai in a possible mecha slugfest. Filling the plot holes will be hard work though.
I enjoyed the astray Manga a lot more than the main series as it wasn't in denial about how ridiculous it was. E.g I can suspend my disbelief regarding Lowe cutting up that MS and not killing the pilot because the overall tone is quite campy and self aware were as Kira shooting down dozens of MS without killing a single person is just comes of as ridiculous because of how seriously it's supposed to be taken.
