I couldn’t agree more with you. Even a casual event needs a pretty table and please always put out the cloth napkins. Have a wonderful weekend. Thank you. 😊
Absolutely lovely! I've done many holiday dinners during my 45 years of marriage and I enjoy pretty linens and plates. You are so right about everything being so casual now. Yet people appreciate it when they see a for a formal setting .It makes everyone feel special!
Electricity and Gas prices are needless to say outrageous so are food prices people's ideas of starving has changed since we were in our younger days takeaway junk food home delivery of packages full of food costs a fortune as well and a lot more than cut flowers it's a tiny luxury that can lift your mood and make you feel better than any other person or cake can
I really enjoyed this “Back to Basics” kind of video…Many tips here that the world of 2023 has either forgotten or simply don’t know about. What a fab idea you shared regarding placing a tablecloth with a damp towel in the dryer! It’s tips like this that I really enjoy. This was a true “Kevin Lee Jacobs” tutorial at its finest! ❤
oh you!! " i am not a professional flower arranger.." 30 seconds later and that old soup tureen transformed into such an elegant flower arrangement...By the way your garden is just gorgeous, I love all of the rocky stone paths.
Love it! I'm a formal gal myself, too. My brother who resides in NY always serves his salad after the main course. Born and raised and living in CA, I've always served it before or with the meal. This was the first time I ever saw a formal table putting the salad fork "inside" the main fork position. Makes perfect sense when serving the salad last! A beautiful table scape. I always feel special when someone sets a formal table for me... Thank you for demonstrating a lost art. xoxo🥰 PS...Love your sidekick! 🐕
It's only my husband and myself (no kids) and we've always had dinners at the table, even at gatherings. It's something I've always done, but not out of tradition. It's a way to connect well with the people that I love.
Kevin, y'know, nowadays people aren't full of class, grace, and elegance, but you represent all of the above. You seem like a guy who is cool, gentle-natured, sweet, inviting, kind, and exuberate such a beautiful, sincere aura. I really like this video. Thanks.
6:30 my maternal grandmother gave me a prescious China set MADE IN GERMANY about 100 years ago. I bring it out too on special ocassions. I love special China. She was not German; she was 100% British genetically, but her husband was
Kevin--You are such a joy. I look forward to your visit each week. I was wondering if you could focus on your lovely crystal chandelier one week, and give us some ideas as to the best way of keeping in clean. That has always been a bit of a mystery for me. You just have no idea how loved you are by so many! Thanks for sharing your talents and loving spirit with us!
I wish families did more sit down dinners. I have several beautiful dinner sets from parents and In-Laws that no grandchildren want because they must be hand washed or are considered to fragile or valuable. Micro wave proof correlle ware is the way of the day. Almost a lost art that really should be preserved, your table is stunning ❤
Thank you for sharing that comment! I have three sets of beautiful China that I’ve collected for my adult children, only one has expressed interest. Imagine my surprise when my 23 year old single son in the military helped me set the Easter table and he knew exactly where everything goes! Then we had a sweet chat about table manners and dining etiquette. He’s wondering if he will find a wife who appreciates his “old world” style and vintage soul.
A lovely table setting! I haven't had people over for dinner since before the pandemic. My mom taught me how to set the table. We sat down as a family for dinner every night, while growing up. Sunday dinner was usually served on the fine china, on a white linen table cloth. I'm glad to have those memories. Thank you for the refresher tutorial. I had forgotten about the fine art of table setting.♥️🍽️🍷💐
Charm and elegance. Oh to be young again like you Kevin. I loved giving intimate dinner parties. I still have some lovely Royal Doulton dinner plates my grandmother left me many years ago. I have a lovely book on Emily Post. She was extraordinary. She would fly her guests to her country home. I can’t imagine she was able to relax. I would much rather dine with you. Sadly I am now confined to bed and eat very little. I still like roses in my bedroom though. I love your china collection. The Minton is my favourite.❤
I love that the salad fork is inside the entree fork…My grandfather, from Campobasso Italy, always ate his salad after the first course…not what a traditional American First and Second courses might look like!!! We loved seeing him “eat backwards” (from our perspective) as kids!!!
Bonsoir Monsieur Kevin, quand je vous regarde dresser la table avec élégance magnifique chemin de table vos fleurs tout est parfait vous avez beaucoup goût❤ Merci bonne soirée
I love setting the table in a formal style, just out of the blue, during the week. Even if we are just having sandwiches for dinner. Cloth napkins are always a must.
Thank you Kevin ! I love your style! That table is stunning! From the flower arrangement to the tablecloths everything is so elegant , my style for sure! Your tips about the tablecloths wrinkles you covered everything fro A to Z And your doggie a sweetheart 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you Kevin! Enjoyed! I can’t wait to set up my table for guest. I learned this many years ago but we can all use a refresher course. You are lovely 😊
I'm late to this one, haven't been well. The table looks wonderful and I love your dinner plates. I inherited my dinner service which was originally bought in the Victorian era. It only comes out on very special occasions because I'm terrified of breaking it, lol. I also have some silver salt cellars with a blue glass lining which look gorgeous. They have tiny silver spoons to serve the salt with. Very special! Thanks for posting Kevin, your video's get me through some very dark days and I really appreciate it.
You are so delightful to watch and learn from! It is true that guests feel special when the table setting is special! I've experienced that as guest and as host!
Beautiful! I have to get some cloth napkins. I remember the old timers always had a handmade table cloth and napkins. They were lovely. They may have had modest means but had one ‘for special’.
Yellow. This is one of your best. You're one of the few who does things pretty much the same way I do. This is such a great video for anyone who isn't familiar with these basics.
Thank you so much for the video on fine dining at home. These lessons are so very much appreciated and will definitely be used. Thank you again! Take care and be safe! 😊💖🙏
Hi Kevin, perfectly presented video as always. Really helpful for younger viewers who may be starting out on the adventure of entertaining guests. Your flower arrangement was superb and I noticed the Alstroemeria perfectly matched your dining room walls. The arrangement also complimented the pure white of the cloth perfectly adding just the right splash of blue to blend perfectly with your choice of tableware. I particularly LOVE your ample water jugs! A really helpful reference video for everyone. Thank you so much as always. Love to You, Mr Fox, Avery and Binky. Sadly, Noggin died last weekend . He was almost 13 years old, so this comes with Love from just me now xxxx
Hello Kevin, thank you for the video. The table looks wonderful, the flower arrangement sets it all off beautifully. Your dinner guests are very well looked after, which I am sure is appreciated x it's always great to see you thank you once again x
Love the video Kevin and the ideas. In our Dining Room we have a print of a painting on the wall called The Dinner Party by Jules Alexandre Grun which he painted in 1910. On the table of the painting are lovely flower arrangements cascading from lamps. Our table centrepiece has taken inspiration from the painting and allows us to use whichever flowers are in season. It makes a small but very elegant piece.
Kevin, will you please do a video on the process you use to serve your guests at one of your dinner parties especially one during which you are serving a dish from the kitchen? Thank you.
I am running out of adjectives for you and your videos. Everything about this one is beautiful: beginning with sweet Avery (who loves you bunches), the scenic drive, the flowers, (snap dragons are one of my favorites), the venue - this may be my favorite room in your house, the paint color is spectacular, and the table setting. Have I forgotten anything? With all that beauty, who needs food? LOL!! You have a knack for making us feel as if we were really there. Thank you and, I hope you have a fantastic weekend!
Kevin!! - what a beautiful soul you are - always inspiring - always so innovative - you are a joy to watch whatever you do - the centrepiece on your dinner table is very elegant - I never thought of putting flower arrangements in a soup server - brilliant!! - love you for your amazing accomplishments & smile.
Another spectacular video! Thank you so much, Kevin. I really enjoyed this upload. I am not a casual person. I have a "formal house", decorated with beautiful antique furniture and lovely paintings and other pieces of art, but that's just the way l like it. I love my home and l love being at home. l also loooooove your home so much!! It's just so beautiful. I am a pianist and l love my music room, but l must confess, l stole your idea and l placed a beautiful table and chairs in my music room. Now l love it even more! Thank you so much for all the wonderful tips and ideas that you are sharing with us. Sending you love and tons of blessings from the bottom of my heart. Have a wonderful weekend.
I just recently bought a pale blue linen damask table cloth and matching napkins, made in Ireland, never used for $10.00 at a garage sale. Your floral arrangement and table setting look wonderful. Thanks Kevin🙏❤️
Why did I never think to hang my table cloths on a hanger and free up some of the space in my already overcrowded kitchen drawers?🤔 That’s a wonderful idea! Thanks!
Kevin, I have a beautiful soup tureen that is from my mother, I have never thought of using it as a vase. Thank you for the idea, always look forward to your videos. Sending lots of best wishes for you.
Very cheerful and uplifting colors. This is what I call fine dining. You do everything so graciously and so well. Mr. Fox is one lucky gentleman❤Thank you for sharing your ideas.
I, too, like to set a formal table and am always on the lookout for something new. Definitely going to try flowers in my tureen! A wee hint here, I’ve found that pulling all the chairs out from the table, makes it much easier to set the table.
I love watching your videos while I work. I just changed to working at home and have a hard time with media. Besides audio books your videos bring me so much peace and have inspired me so much. Thank you
Mr. KLJ, you definitely have creativity, talents & class. I love the tip about putting a wet towel & on the wrinkle cycle to removes wrinkle. I usually do not like to do tablecloths for that tedious reason. Now, I’m going to try again. Thank you for teaching us simple people to be more elegant.
Kevin what a beautiful table thank you for the idea if doing the tablecloth in the dryer with a towel love the flower arrangement you do an awesome job take care have a wonderful weekend
Reminded me of a couple of friends who can cook a bit but lack know how and confidence for special entertaining or having a date over. Simple things like setting the table before a guest arrives greatly reduces the made dash confusion at serving time, for example. It'd be fun to see you do a date night pasta dinner adapting your classic table setting elements with more casual linens and flower arrangement, etc. Thank you for helping me gain confidence through a more organized and enjoyable approach to entertaining!
I ❤setting a beautiful elegant table as well Kevin. I want my guests to know I cherish them.
Once you have a formal setting with even a few colourful flowers ....the food always tastes better 😄
Kevin, you always turn a mundane day into a spectacular event. Thank you for being a thoughtful host.
I couldn’t agree more with you. Even a casual event needs a pretty table and please always put out the cloth napkins. Have a wonderful weekend. Thank you. 😊

I love to watch you set an elegant table! Attention to detail is what makes a difference!
So much preparation a true gentleman I'm sure your guests appreciate all u do
I like that you are elegant but not pretentious. Enjoy all the videos.

Your arrangement was so beautiful. I love a little elegance. Everything is so informal and unspecial these days.

I agree with you completely! I tend to be more formal. It's attractive to look out and more festive. Deserving of all the effort the dinner requires 🎉

Truly elegant............ your guests will be delighted with your table setting!!!!
Very elegant , formal and yes opulent.!!!😊💖
Dear Kevin, thank you for sharing a part of your life, you're a true inspiration! Love from The Netherlands 🌷🌿💙🌸
The arrangement is stunning, thank you for the tip, I’ll not press my tablecloths ever again.

I never mind using my best antiques for dinners because the hand-washing up allows for thoughtful reflection on the event...

I thought the same thing… then I remembered that at antique stores the linens are on hangers, too. I must be thick. 😂

You could also place large frangipanis lotus or lilly flowers floating in a large bowl or tureen with floating candle's
Just like the spa's and resorts
