I made a similar dish in my instant pot this week. I used pinto beans and linguica, a Portuguese sausage that is popular in my area. Also made cornbread to accompany. My family loved this dish! I think your cornbread recipe sounds better than mine so I'll give a try next time. Thanks for all of your inspiring videos.

It is quite honestly amazing the foods for state banquets and 'normal' dining, which it was not, and the preparation et al. My goodness I think I may say she was a Bon Viveur too, along with yourself. xxx
I still iron. I have great memories of my mother and I ironing when I was little. I had my own little electric iron and I ironed my daddy’s handkerchiefs ❤
Aaahh! Just a quiet moment with you is a balm to the soul. I also don't mind ironing (or doing the dishes by hand). It is soothing and, as you say, an opportunity to reflect and appreciate a lovely linen or piece of china. My favorite comfort food is small white beans and ham. The seasoning may vary depending on my mood. Usually some sauteed onion, maybe some chopped tomatoes or just some black pepper. Cornbread of course! I have an affinity for Jiffy cornbread muffins. This is a meal that is just right for a meal for one or two when made in smaller portions. Thank you for sharing your chili recipe. Blessings!

Mr. Jacobs, I just stumbled across your TH-cam channel a few days ago. I wish I could be as calm as you and find joy in the doing of simple tasks. Watching you iron your napkins reminds me of something my grandmother taught me; when you only use a few napkins at a time, rotate their use so they wear evenly. I do this with my towels and bed linens too.
Kevin, I love your posts and I love that you have fires in your fireplaces I miss a blazing fire. I grew up with a house that had a fireplace and I loved the sanp and the smell of the burnning logs. :) Do you have a damper in your fireplaces? The houe I grew up in did not...... we had a metal screen that went in front of the fireplace, the house was built in 1900.

Tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. In the Summer grilled cheese and fresh tomatoes from the garden. Also macaroni and cheese and fried fishstcks or breaded shrimp with cocktail sauce. I only drink hot cocoa in the Winter. In the Summer it’s lemonade.

Kevin, you make your cornbread just exactly like my dear grandmother. She’s been gone many, many years but her memory never leaves me. I can still remember the taste of her chicken stuffing. Funny, our childhood memories. Also, she had a Lilacs bush outside her bedroom window that smelled so good. That is my favorite flower today at 85. She took wonderful care of me as a child. She raised me with a great set of moral values. You don’t always know what you miss until it’s gone. Enjoy your hearty soup. Looks tasty.

I'm originally from Texas (moved away when the political temperature rose). This is a strange chili. I do love beans in my chili but not sugar. Still, chili is like barbecue sauce -- there are many versions people love. I was really looking forward to your Friday video. Need some calming comfort after this week's shock.

Tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. In the Summer grilled cheese and fresh tomatoes from the garden. Also macaroni and cheese and fried fishstcks or breaded shrimp with cocktail sauce. I only drink hot cocoa in the Winter. In the Summer it’s lemonade.
My daughter in vermont also uses only cloth napkins. I am proud of her saving the trees 😊

Kevin, you make your cornbread just exactly like my dear grandmother. She’s been gone many, many years but her memory never leaves me. I can still remember the taste of her chicken stuffing. Funny, our childhood memories. Also, she had a Lilacs bush outside her bedroom window that smelled so good. That is my favorite flower today at 85. She took wonderful care of me as a child. She raised me with a great set of moral values. You don’t always know what you miss until it’s gone. Enjoy your hearty soup. Looks tasty.

I'm originally from Texas (moved away when the political temperature rose). This is a strange chili. I do love beans in my chili but not sugar. Everyone's chili is so different- I created one that took me 3 months to perfect for a perfect balance of flavors and I only cook it 12 minutes, including the beef. Kim :)
