I'm more than happy with my S8+ never getting a software update. Oreo doesn't have any new features that aren't included in TouchWiz that I've seen. Also, Android P looks like a huge mistake for Google. What were they thinking? Let's become more like iOS and give the user less personalization?
What is update? Why update if you have very very stable os. Remember the nokia era? No problem at all, they include usb cable to update, but the software was already stable. I really do not understand what it means by UPDATE unless it has major flawed and need to be update. We need a stable version of andriod and no bugs rather than having to update frequently. Everyone is crazy about update. When new update came out and has many bugs, you guys are mad about it. So i stay with stable version.
10 years of computers has taught me: NEVER buy anything hoping for an update. Also, once the next product comes out... there is zero motivation to fix it.

Blaq By Design You know what you were buying day one stop crying about updates when Google is the KING OF bug infestations and glitchy software issues galore on the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2XL Oreo isn't anything special at this moment. Be happy with the phone you have or useless it to trademark up for the S9 and S9plus carriers make it easy for customers to do that.
S8 here I Europe got oreo and it is awesomely fast and getting over 7 hrs battery life in moderate use. The S9 gen is becoming famous for eating up its battery life at a max of 4.5 hrs at most with moderate use. I have s9+ and i have a lot problems with Spotify- music is randomly "freezing" some like damaged audio file. But this issues its only on hardware speakers and Spotify. Any idea how fix it?
Yes the update issue... Samsung, S8 has Oreo out, S9 released with Oreo, and the current Note 8 is still on the same firmware it was released with albeit with a security update! I regret selling my Pixel XL now lol!
Also, aside from security updates, I don't understand why people are tripping over updates. Samsung usually has the features before the official Google update

I wish I would have watched this video before buying my phone, I got a brand new GS9 and both cameras are super slow and blurry, I have to take at least 5 or 6 shots of everything just in order to get a decent picture. My Moto Z Play wasn't even a flagship phone and the camera was way faster
My broblem is that my phone is stuck in landscape in home screen too (i have set it to only horizontal) and every app is landscape and other stuff too liie my phone cant record 4K60 or even 4K video or it will reboot for no reason (i have tried 3rd party cameras) and i have other broblems
1.Bixby is my first complaint, the button and left swipe can not be turned off. This results in it continually opening when it's not required. 2.The predictive text is the worst that I've used, it has no smarts. And doesn't seem to learn your word patterns. 3. The screen is very very easy to break even with a cover and screen protector. 4. The battery life is a joke, its needs many recharges to get through the day. 5. Okay, the screen buttons havel been removed so that there is a full screen. BUT!!! there is no option to have the buttons/tool bar permanently at the bottom of the screen. Meaning that now you need to do two actions to for example go back or bring up open pages. One to bring up the tool bar and one to press the button you require. This is so crazy and infuriating when navigating open pages. All for 3 to 4 millimeters of screen space. The s9 sucks
I need a pure work phone like only for work and my work mainly operates via calls and net, please tell if it jas heating problem, microphone problem, network issue or battery life is less than 8 hrs for a normal usage Although i have been planning to take note 9 but i found that this phone was especially invented for businesses and as a work phone
How about this issue that I experienced with a recent new Note 8 and on a new S9+ I exchanged the Note8 for. (both had/have same issues) I went to record a friends live Rock Band, in the same venue, sitting at the same location as I did so countless times with my 5 year old Samsung S4 without any issues ever. The problem...after a video recording of live music which is loud but not overbearing or painfully loud 'AND WITH EARBUDS IN' the AUDIO portion of the video recording will sound really good with rich, full Bass Drums etc then fade to very thin, tinny almost like a 1950's AM Transistor radio type of sound. Wearing Earbuds really make the issue noticeable. During a 3-4 minute video recorded song the audio will fade back and forth (good-bad-good-bad) like this several times. And no, my finger/hand was not covering the external microphone...I made sure of that. With both new phones all I did was uninstall few games as I never play games on my phone. BTW, on both Phones the Video Setting was on 'Auto". On a new Note 8 & my current S9+ this is beyond annoying especially being a musician. Any ideas as to why this is happening with two new different Samsung Phones, and Flagship Phones at that!
Another issue i have noticed, having a strong wifi sigmal i keep getting dropped off on the S9+, whereas on the Note Edge (my backup device) no such problem AT ALL! Have any of you faced similar problems under wifi... mind you it is more prevalent on gaming apps but not limited to.
I would like to ask, if there is possibility to keep the badges to show the number even after clear the message from the notification bar? Its really dissapointing that once I clear the message from not.bar then ther is no way how to easily realize I have somthing missed...

I have a very important question for you. I recently bought a S9+ and I have noticed people all telling me that they can't hear me clearly, predominantly on whatsapp voice calls. Normal calls also have had similar reactions but lesser. So my question is, does this model of Samsung have a microphone issue? I'm a bit concerned, because when I go back to my Note Edge and have no problems at all.
These aren't any significant issues whatsoever at this moment the handset hasn't even been out yet launch wise. You can't possibly know anything regarding battery life yet that takes legitimately over 3weeks not 3 days. TH-camrs need to stop making thwse unnecessary videos about a product you have really had long enough to even know. You have preproduction products not the actual handset that's going to be sold at carrier stores on March 16th. Pretty surely those handsets will see updates right after they are turned on.
You didn't say anything about the problems with sound the s9 is having. I am also on Verizon and the text isn't notifying and when watching TH-cam or any video there is static noise

How can you sell a phone at this price that won't last more than 3 to 4 hours of SOT, i'm not even talking about the different camera bugs and such which i hope will be corrected over updates. My honor 7x looks premium, lasts way more than a full days with at least 6 to 8 hours of SOT and it costs 4 times less ! Those facts won't hold for long, consumers are starting to change, just see around you all the people that have bought a Huawei or Honor brand.

Google has put some things in place which is meant to help oems speed up updates. Hopefully Samsung can recommit to updates this year.

The battery life is subpar, but nonetheless, it's still usable. Only problems I've had so far is image retention and static in speakers.

talkingalwayz delete the camera app cookies it might help but you'll loose your settings.

I was stuck with the S7 and S8+ because of the Note7 issue. Now I have Note8 and I am hoping they don't ruin the Note9 with these issues.
