The Mersey Pirate was dire but nonetheless this is an incredibly fantastic find - another rarity. The series might have improved and had a second run if it hadn't been cut short due to the ITV network strike
I saw this episode at the time. I only remember sparks,so thats how i know i saw it. The rest of it is a blank. Would have been good to see the sparks interview, where Russell mael says that ron is the same in real life, as he comes across on tv.
@@jasejj yes I am sure you are so right too. I live in the London area though but would not be sure though too. I did read they only showed the last series of tiswas from atv or Central though too.
I recall this as being dire!
This clip certainly backs my memory up.
Thank god for TISWAS!
One thing I remember about "The Mersey Pirate" was their send up of News at Ten.
Thankyou. Any more you may have of the Pirate will be most welcome.
Duggie brown i vaguely remember too.

Probably not, it was a massive logistical nightmare even without the strike
I vaguely remember it too.
Hey, the title sequence
The futuristic music of Mike Oldfield
Oh bloody hell, half of Hale and Pace...

There is a Sparks interview from Tiswas in 1979 that's just surfaced, presumably you saw that?
@@80sandretrogubbins25 ,might have done, but I don't remember. Definitely remember the mersey pirate one though.
Shames there's no Sparks footage

How have u had this decent condition for so many years ?
It's a VHS copy made 25 or so years ago, unplayed again until recently.
Looking at this, I'm grateful Tyne Tees went their own way! 😂
They did not show tiswas either though did they too.
@@BruceDanton-xw6eg True, until 1981. But what they did put out was better than this Mersey Pirate from what I've seen

What would Tyne Tees have shown instead of The Mersey Pirate?
@DalstonKingsland I sadly have no idea at all too.
