Mr White saying "that guy was abusing kids, but otherwise he was such a great guy," is the worst thing I have heard yet. Like it was just a tiny lapse in judgment to molest 60+ kids over several years?!?! Resign, Mr White!
True change comes from within and desiring it. Not every Christian will change their ways if their being coerced into it with dogma. They have to want it and most don't. It would be better for them to do shadow work to acknowledge their darkness and find healthy ways to deal with it, rather than denying their urges and being ruled by them.
As much as I'd argue that 'inappropriate' is a weaker way of saying 'disgusting' so it could be okay...considering the subject matter, you are absolutely correct...
I’m a male survivor. I’m 23 year olds and 10 months sober from 7 years of opiate and benzo addiction. My abuse is the single most important thing to happen to me and affects me to this day. Their is no hell deep enough for these pigsx
So proud of you for the strength to keep fighting wether it’s in this life or the next you will be vindicated. The Most High hasn’t forsaken either one of God Bless you 🙏🏿❤️
Same. I was molested by 3 adult women starting age 11. I abused drugs and alcohol for years because of it. At 26 I meet the real Jesus and He changed my life.
I'm sorry for the pain you've gone through, keep going with your sobriety. Keep working on healing yourself. Hurting yourself because of what they did is letting them continue to win. Please seek out a therapist and don't settle until you feel you find the right therapist. Put all your pain and anger into things with positive outcomes. It can get easier, you can heal from the trauma. I was a victim as a child, it look a lot of work and time but you can heal the pain of it.
thats why my mom always understood why i didnt want to go even though i had that relationship with God, stuff like this stuck with me even though i was like 6

Taking advantage of children during a bible study session is another level of evil. Makes me feel so sick when I think about it. And anyone who try's to cover up or make excuses for the abusers are JUST AS BAD as the predators. Sorry to everyone who suffered - no one should have to experience this stuff in life. It really hurts hearing that these things can happen. I can't imagine how the victims feel. Try stay strong everyone.
"Did I recommend he be fired? No ma'am ... Because we believed that it was immature decision making and we needed to help him make better decisions" So in other words they knew that he had committed a predatory crime, and actively decided not to do anything about it. These people need to be in jail for enabling

Religion needs way more calling-out. So let’s support a lot of atheist-channel, who constantly try to help truth and facts and always try to dissect Religion. Belief It Or Not, Telltalee, Viced Rhino, Prothet-of-Zod, GMS, Creaky Blinder, Emma Thorne, so many do it.
When I was at Kanakuk I had panic attacks every night due to massive headaches. The camp would not allow me to call home. Eventually they took me to the hospital and I got an MRI. I was diagnosed with a concussion. So there I am at a freaking HOSPITAL only with camp counselors and someone who I assumed was part of camp leadership, and they still WOULD NOT let me call home. When Kanakuk called my mom to let her know her daughter was in the hospital with a concussion, my mom requested to talk to me and Kanakuk refused to let her talk to her daughter in the hospital! WTF??! It was such a creepy, controlling environment and I have no doubt they would shame victims of abuse under the guise of the abused having a "lack of faith." Joe White is a creep. He spoke to me 1:1 after I returned from the hospital and all he wanted to talk about was how worried he was for my faith. It was cringe-y and I remember feeling so uncomfortable having to sit and talk alone with this rich old dude who I had no relationship with about my spiritual health. Something seemed so off about the leadership. My camp counselors were great but they were just a few years older than me. You could tell something just wasn't right. This camp is a dangerous breeding ground for abuse. Just ask the question.. Why wouldn't they condemn the situation immediately and fire this person? There's a reason they kept this creep around.
If the camp still exist and nothing has been done to shut this organization down. Citizens of the county should create a civilian oversight board with subpoena powers that is separate from any Camp staff member and the camp organization. Look up Civil Grand Jury. If there is a civil grand jury in that state then the civil grand jury can do an investigation and remove the CEO and other enablers and shut down the camp indefinitely.
major major props to the families fighting this. esp the mom and dad that refuse to sign the NDA. They're doing so much for so many other families by refusing to stay silent about what their son went through. these are some genuinely good people. i really hope this camp gets shut down

My heart stopped when I read this title in my feed. I'm a survivor of sexual abuse at a Christian summer retreat, however it was by my own youth pastor. I was being abused in the mornings, missing the morning devotionals and when I did attend the woman who held the class treated me as delinquent I assume for poor attendance. No one bothered to ask me what was going on. I spoke up while on the trip and I faced a backlash immediately from leaders of my own church and the camp. Luckily, law enforcement back in my home state of Florida was open to listening to me and took action. Justice was served as the man who assaulted me and other friends of mine who were members of the church was imprisoned for life. I never took civil action which I regret because these adults were liable for allowing this to happen and calling me a liar when I came forward. But after hearing this had i taken settlement money I wouldn't be able to use my voice to speak out against this horror.
I’m devastated that they’re still operating. Worse even, other Christian publications rank them as one of the best camps. They take kids as young as 5 🤬
They all are in the business of "chruch" as an institution not in the "chruch" a place for worship and true soul salvation. Its about business for that circle not about Yahweh.
@@Lobos222 they get their morals from their wicked own selves and the devil. They hide behind the name of christianity, but they are false prophets who are ravenous wolves in sheep’s clothing and this is exactly what the bible tells us to beware of. And best know, they will be judged by the upmost Judge, just like the rest of us.
I was at the camp at the time this happened and I was one of the victims, and during the trial he did not see guilty at all and on the counslers overheard the owner trying to cover up the situation. It was all extremely uncomfortable and very aggressive there and Pete was evil to his core. Thank you for making this video this provides a voice for those that feel like they couldn't say anything.
My heart is sad for you , I'm so sad that this camp is still in business , may you find peace and healing , I cannot imagine how tough and hard that must be ❤️
I was abused at a child and no matter what it sticks in my mind. I sometimes wish I could have amnesia or anything to forget my past. I feel for these victims and I’m so glad they are coming out and fighting for justice.
I'm sorry that that happend, if you can go to therapy I recommend it to you. There's some treatments for ptsd specially for these cases, they could help you. Send you a lot of hugs and only happiness for you 💛
@4skin you should be proud of yourself for your strength… remember your faith is stronger and more powerful than the evil of these hypocrites and what they did to you… you are strong and will gradually get stronger and minimize that terrible experience mentally because you are on a much more important journey of concoousness in your life and purpose..much love to you
People think just because it’s their religion nothing like that can happen. It is everywhere. Absolutely everywhere, every religion, every group, every community.
Yep sure is and the religions will hide the abusers. These aligations should have been handed to law enforcement straight away, why are the parents believing the "camp investigations" or even bothering talking to them? Call the Law Enforcement or go and take some civil/community violence out on the pedo. They might need to pass new laws that if you harbour the predators within these organisations you are also liable and will be charged.
The use of religion as a staging ground for their crimes is the real problem. Christianity comes with its own system for protecting these criminals, which I do not see nearly as prevalent in any other organizations. So many denominations of Christianity have this problem too, which is not nearly as common in other religions. Christianity is a problem, especially in the USA. Your assessment is naive at best.
People with perversions seep into any jobs where children are vulnerable and trusting of authority. Churches, schools, boy scouts, medical field, police etc. When you have children, no matter how they are related to you, you must always be alert and listen to what they tell you...and what they don't ☮️❤️
This what Jesus think about people who abuse children Matthew 18:6 6 “If anyone causes one of these little ones-those who believe in me-to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.
And verse 1-7 1 At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” 2 He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. 3 And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me. Causing to Stumble 6 “If anyone causes one of these little ones-those who believe in me-to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. 7 Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come!
This is so disturbing on so many levels. Any type of sexual assault is a perpetual sentence for the victims, affecting every relationship the victim will have. I'm so sorry for the victims.
It happens more often than you’d think. Also, if the abuser is an asset with money or skills they need, they will justify it as well. I have been appalled at church organizations doing this. I’m glad more is being revealed
But somehow people of color have lost their lives because people assumed their color meant something about their character. We live in such a sick world
When I was a little girl I wanted to go to sleep away camp . My mom never let me and as a kid I was pissed I wanted to be a camper so bad. Now that I’m an adult I now know my mom was protecting me. THANK GOD MY MOM NEVER SENT ME!
My mom would let me, only go to day camp at our playground, across the street. We all had to have signed permission to go on bus trips to local animal refuge to hike or to other parks. Parents would often volenteer to go and help camp councillors. It was fun and nothing bad ever happened. Kids can be kids. It's a pity these terrible people made a bad name for camps. Not every person is a pervert. My mother did teach me well though. There are very good Christian people and I focus on them. Not the hateful remarks.
I went to summer camp dor the last 2 weeks every summer and it was amazing, probably one of the happiest experiences in my childhood. There wernt any weirdo adults around, our councellors were age 17-22 and they had to be a camper their before becoming a councellor. I worked as a Councillor one summer it was awesome. Mine wasnt religious but we did study a lot of traditional native culture and things like maps, astronomy, fires, crafts, drama, dance, sports, horseback riding, boating etc. Also councillors were never alone with us ever! Damn I wish could go back tbh. 😪
I only sleep away camp with my parents, they wanted me to have the experience but they never left me alone. It was fun indeed, and actually feel safe. Years later, my dad send my little brother to a camp alone, it went well too, but I couldn't help but worrying about him until he came back. We had luck, but it's always better to prevent
I worked at a YMCA run summer camp when I was 17/18 and we had such strict rules in order to prevent stuff like this and to recognize signs of sexual abuse. We were not allowed to be alone with a camper ever. One time one of my campers ran off from the group during a large meeting and I went after her and had to spend a decent amount of time trying to convince her to come back to the group. Afterwards I got in major trouble and was yelled at because I was alone with her. It's crazy that what happened at that camp was allowed for so long.
Smaller organizations like Kanakuk often lack the same level of safeguards against sexual abuse because they don't have a large leadership to regulate them, especially if they're church-run. Many people have said that communal showers should also be ended at camps because there are numerous reports of sexual abuse occurring between campers if they are nude together.
My college invited Joe White to speak and interact with students. I met him and told him my story as a survivor. Now I find out about his negligence. Shame on him and shame on my college, as this was happening when they invited him.

@@bellaapple2166 Maybe the children from the town where the camp was located did not continue to attend, but some of the parents from out of town still sent their children there.
@@jivanvasant Darn the word didn't get out far enough, that's just sad. This is why it's important to be very diligent when you're a parent. Ask questions talk to other parents that sent their children. I just hate that innocent children had to experience that.
This camp was hellacious. I thought all the rules were normal and dealt with shame. I had asked why the guys could run around in swim trunks but we had to be covered head to toe. I was shamed for my sexual assault and told it was my fault. You aren’t alone
Right. Pete Newman abused these boys on the camp grounds, at camp events, at Bible studies, as a camp director. He built his life around having access to children at his place of work - Kanakuk. Joe white vouched for him many times to families and paraded Pete out as a draw for kids to want to come to camp. He abused some of them at the events their parents paid for them to attend. How in the world can a judge argue this not have anything to do with furthering the business of camp?
I’ve worked at a Christian based summer camp, and you just can’t be too careful in hiring staff. We once had a counselor who made a few “off” comments during orientation week, so that the directors spoke with him privately. They decided to let him stay, but had two other staff to always keep an eye on him. The second day it was noticed that he positioned himself right behind the boys as they came to the sink to brush their teeth, he’d lean over them and take their hand and say, “Here, let me show you the right way,” and he’d lean up against them. He did this twice. The other counselor called him over and sent him to the supply building for a broom, just to get him out. The directors were summoned immediately, another left in charge of the cabin while the counselor told what he’d seen. There was then no question. The directors called the police and the pervert was told what he’d been seen doing, and to explain himself. He denied it, of course, but was told he was fired, and that he’d be escorted to the cabin to retrieve his belongings while the campers were at their first activity. The police arrived then, and took evidence from the counselor. They then called the two boys individually, to ask if anything had bothered them while tidying up after breakfast, washing up, brushing teeth, making your bunk, etc. One boy obviously had no idea what they were talking about. The other, however, somewhat reluctantly said that he wanted to move cabins because one of the counselors “is creepy, always looking at me and putting his arm around me.” I’m not sure what happened after that except that the counselor left with the cops, in handcuffs. I remember seeing his stuff in a big pile in the lean-to near the mailboxes, which was odd. When I passed by maybe an hour later, it was gone. A select number of older or very mature staff were called to a 9:30 PM meeting in the “Bear’s Den” where we learned what had happened. Of course, we told the matter confidential. Any talk or behavior was to be reported immediately. It was really rather shocking as there had never, to anyone’s knowledge, been such a problem. It was eventually discovered the man had been arrested one other time while a junior in high school for fondling a much younger boy in the school bus. It had never occurred to anyone that it was necessary to check with the police before hiring a teen counselor. After that summer, the hiring and training became much stricter. This was way back in 1977.
I’m glad that they were vigilant in this case. Sadly, all too often, there is so much optimism and faith that everything is “in God’s hands” that prayer and counseling relied upon when dealing with predatory and violent people. If someone is being victimized it’s not enough to just assign an accountability partner.
@@guiller2371 Eh, depends on the religious institution. Keeping kids in harm's way would certainly fit my definition of not caring for the kids. I looked this place up bc I live in Missouri and went to church camp as a kid (not here, thankfully). They REALLY love the letter "K". To the point where they refer to "Kounselors" and "Kampers." It only gets more suspicious when you see that they were founded in 1926. The Yelp reviews are f-----g terrifying. Several people talk about the "cult-like" atmosphere. And the Kamp motto that says to put others before yourself (not necessarily bad, but dangerous without boundaries as well). The bullying. The secret luggage searches. Then there's this: "[T]he nudity was just weird. They made us boys walk naked from our tee pee to the showers and we all were crammed in the showers together, the counselors would shower naked with us too, very inappropriate. My counselor would even walk around the tee pee naked, for no reason." Sounds like pedophile heaven.
Seriously? People actually sit in a " church " and watch a man prance around with a CROSS on his shoulders? The mockery and self righteousness. That alone should send up red flags.
Every year at Easter some churches put on crucifixions actually nailing believers to crosses. In one when putting the cross upright the jolt makes the nails pull thru the hands and the believer falls off
I remember when the news came out in 2010 and some of the boys on the Branson High School basketball team were victims of Newman. Kids in the stands of an opposing team wore home made tshirts with hot tubs on it and Kanakuk logos. Literally one of the worst feelings I’ve ever felt seeing the boys on the court seeing the other schools shirts and chants, absolutely heartbreaking.
This gentleman is so brave for speaking out about what happened to him. So few men speak out when they are victims of sexual abuse/assault, domestic abuse, or child sex abuse, because of our society’s unfair expectations of men. It isn’t weak to speak out about your abuse. It’s extremely brave and courageous, and can help protect more children. I hope he’s doing well
I believe this, I worked in a psych hospital for 11 years. Where I’m from there is a huge Christian university (huge) every year they have a summer retreat, after the retreat we would get several of those campers suffering from psychotic episodes, catatonic, suicidal, etc EVERY YEAR!!
One of my boys was going crazy having to be in a psych hospital because he was just stressed the people around him had serious issues i remember he told me he woke up with someone standing over him screaming
Although the settlements occurred when the victims were no longer minors, I don’t think it’s ever ethical to claim that the sexual abuse they suffered *as a minor* cannot be discussed because it may disparage Kanakuk.
Most NDAs are not enforceable. A lot of people don’t know that. There’s very little case history but my brother who is an attorney says by and large they are a scam and mostly just intimidate rather than actually hold power.
I went to this camp multiple times, including during this time frame. Though I wasn’t a victim to anything sexual, there are many suspicious and culty things I dealt with and saw go on.
I'm starting to realize that anything with a religious affiliation acts as a safe haven for predators by providing the presumption that the type of people working and running them would have high values, morals and beliefs yet it can be quite the opposite.
in America yes, because we got hella weirdos per capita. in my mother country and others, I've gone to camps for, people get in trouble for 'letting the kids do whatever' ie. I went out and got a beer at the ripe age of 9 and 10 and consumed it without anyone knowing or supervising me after 8pm, best years of my very young life, made lots of friends, and did some messed up but fun that I remember very fondly. The USA is different, yall got some fucked up people around here... They all need to be put into a gas chamber honestly, every last one of them.
A famous Olympic gymnastic coach abused lots of young girls under his training. He is a sexual predator who was in position of trust and authority both. There were zero aspects of religion involved in this case, just another monster preying on children in his care. These predators do not stop their criminal behavior no matter how long you lock them up for. As soon as they are released, they are out there up to their old tricks once again. The issue is they are prone to not leave any witnesses behind to rat them out, and so they escalate to sexual abuse and then murder so they can't be informed upon like last time.
As a member of the community with close contact with Pete Newman; as he not only was involved in Kanakuk but Youth Life… and knowing so many of the victims because they were friends… I’m so glad this is being brought to light !
He got close to my cousin at YL in Dallas but luckily he wasn’t a victim, or at least that’s what he said. I was very religious growing up but there was something about youth life that really bothered me. It felt like a lot of people being very wild but under the surface (I was 14 and super naive so everything freaked me out). I remember there being a permissive attitude toward alcohol and drinking, being sure to caveat that Jesus made wine and it’s okay if it’s legal. It just seemed weird to be saying it to a room of teens in an affluent area where it’s common to party like that.
This sort of thing happened to my brother. He was attacked in the bathroom. Whoever did it knew what he was doing. He threatened my brother to make sure he didn’t turn around to see him, made sure it was at a time of day when there wasn’t going to be someone nearby, etc…. That camp has had a lot of allegations as well, to the point where they basically have a liability waiver for attendees.
Danika Bass > Is the "liability waiver" a written document that is signed and dated by each camp attendee's parents or legal guardian, that could serve as documentary evidence? In many or most if not all legal jurisdictions, if a "liability waiver" or "waiver of specific individual rights" is acquired by fraud, constructive fraud, non-disclosure fraud or other deception, then it legally has no validity.
This guy wasn’t even a boss. I understand how difficult it is when the offender is like the owner or ceo or something but this… They could’ve just fired this guy immediately. There was no reason not to. That’s how much they value the children at their camp. They don’t even consider this a problem.
They valued their PR image over the well being of future children. It wasn't worth the public exposure. Religious Businesses are some of the worst institutions in the world.
He was a “boss” of sorts, so you are incorrect. He and his wife were unfortunately a beloved director of the youngest kids kamp. And this was drug on for far too long because of it.

I went to Kanakuk. 1 summer, 1 term. I hated it. I was going into 10th grade, and most of the “kampers” had been coming there since age 6 or 7, so very cliquish. I remember shower time-2 cabins in the communal shower, standing around naked, could not start the shower until a “shower counselor” came in to “supervise shower time”. I was never assaulted, but I hated the atmosphere.
People don't realize that the creepiest subculture in America are Christian organizations in Missouri: not only here, but the appalling child abuse in girls schools in Missouri, as well as baby theft that used to take place only 20 years ago for unwed teenagers. It's also a state with one of the highest rates of child marriage in the country. And what's worse is the State of Missouri pretty much protects them legally from liability. If the State ever gets involved, it's because the abuses there are 10x worse than everywhere else. How evil!
the real reason why the christians want to end abortions is so they can get their hands on more babies to sell to the highest bidding pervert. Kidnapping is too dangerous. People look for them. They need babies no one will look for.
I'm a survivor too. I have notes around that say positive affirmations, "you are strong, you are beautiful, you are more than what you've survived." Keep em on stickies onmy phone. In the past I had a lot of self hate, I've made a lot of self destructive decisions. It's so hard to reach a point of any semblance of healing. To anyone reading this, read whats in my quotes out to yourself, even if you dont believe it. This can never define you, because you are strong.

as someone who went to this camp for three summers i can fully say it’s a fucking cult. the homophobia, racism, and sexism i encountered was astronomical. lindsay rother (the k-west women’s director) gaslit me after i came out to my councilor, and i was encouraged to not tell anyone. crying in a bunk because you think you are going to hell while the rest of your cabin painted their nails is not something an 11 year old should go through. i know what i went through is so minute to what so many other people experienced but i think we could all agree that kanakuk needs to be permanently closed.
I went here too in 2016 and was excluded by my counselors because I was a girl and had a pixie cut. They also actively preached homophobia and sexism to us at K-7
I was totally brainwashed after going there for 11 fucking years. I wore my stupid kanakuk cross necklace every year and I felt I was being good and right. And it took me years to realize I fucking hated myself. I’m so sorry you were treated that way. And I’m sorry for being a kamper painting their nails. I would change it if I could.
Any time someone tells me they are "Christian", in a pointed way, alarm bells go off in my mind. Too many people use it as shorthand for supposed morals or ethics. Evangelicals, in particular, are suspect. But Americans love simplicity, and shallow thinking, and these orgs have figured that out.

I went to a summer camp where I live and had life saving medication withheld for no reason whatsoever. The amount of neglect I felt was horrific, I still remember the panic of not having my medication when I needed it. I’ve gone years thinking no one else has gone through trauma/neglect or abuse at summer camp, everyone always had such amazing experiences and talked fondly of their time.I felt like it was just me being a sensitive little girl. Finding this video in a way is healing. Im sorry for anyone who felt or was unsafe in an environment made to feel safe.
I went to Kanakuk (male)/Kanakomo (female) for 5 years between the ages of 8 & 13 (skipped a summer) for the month long session each time, and it was always amazing. This video deeply saddens me and hurts my heart. One thing I hate about getting older (in my mid 40s) is the absolute shattering of all the illusions of human decency I held true for so long. People can be absolutely disgusting and disgraceful. I will remember my time at Kanakomo fondly. I loved my summers spent there; however, now those memories will be tainted by this new knowledge. Heartbreaking! Release the victims from their nda's. It's the right thing to do
people don't understand, the good Ole boy network is alive and well in Missouri. That camp is run by rich, white, Christian men who have been there a long time. They have ties to every major power in the state.
It probably wouldn't have done any good. Since the camp was "Christian" the cops would not have had jurisdiction to do anything. Religion is a shield against most legal investigations. That's how those Christian "disciplinary" facilities and summer camps stay open. No one has jurisdiction over them. I grew up a couple miles from one. They just got shut down a couple years ago.
I went to this camp. One of my strongest memories was questioning why girls had to wear a T-shirt over their swimsuit (even while swimming!) but boys could go shirtless anytime they wanted. They told me it was for modesty. I really hated going there, the kids were bullies and I was never into the god thing, my parents made me go every year from 2000-2005ish. I still remember most of the camp songs.
YES!! I remember that!!! I went in the late 2000s. i remembered when I went they gave all of us girls purity rings, but not the boys. I was a foster kid and it was obvious I was different from the others, and I was bullied as well. when I went to people about it, I got ignored because I was “being negative “ and it was “bad thoughts from satan”. then telling on these girls somehow made it worse… I have extremely bad memories from this place for many reasons, I remember I even got to the point I wanted to k*ll myself when I was there & had a total mental breakdown to at sent me into a bad asthma attack, bc I felt guilty for stuff I shouldn’t have… and how i just felt like i was never gonna get home… how nobody liked me and nobody there was listening.. they threw me in the quarantine area for a day… i was an abused child too & I remember trying to speak up about what happened to me and how I was thankful that after praying to God for years, he finally got me out of my abusive home. The counselor told me that it’s not appropriate for me to talk about that. also, that made the girls bully me even more. Yes it might not be appropriate but I was like 13 and everyone else was telling their testimonies, and that’s what I had for mine. I know that’s not as serious as what these boys went through, but I wanted to share my story. I remember personally speaking to Joe White and just getting an all-around bad vibe from him. Guess I was right. When my grandparents adopted me when I was 14, I remember having nightmares about this place and my grandma reassuring me that I will never have to go back there again.
That place is clearly crawling with monsters, from the CEO all the way down. The fact that they covered for him & even lied knowing they were putting kids at risk shows that they are ok with the abuse & feel there isnt anything wrong with it.
Where was God when Jesus Christ went through the agonising pains and crucifixion? God is not a man. God is divine and Almighty. Don't let evil people in the name of religions stager your belief.
If a teenage girl ended up pregnant, these very same christians would judge her, for her supposed sexual sin. They have a very real sexual sinner in their mist, and they protect him. It's hypocritical, disgusting and unbelievable. I just don't get why a group that spends so much time telling teenagers that any sex out side of marriage is a sin, spends so much time and money defending an actual sexual sin.
The people you're describing are misogynistic perverts. Not that I'm defending fornication, especially among teens, but that's obviously a very human, very relatable sin--for ordinary people. But the creatures you're describing have no compassion for ordinary people (especially female, obviously) or for ordinary sin. They have endless tolerance for predators and for true evil because they ARE predators and truly evil themselves. People defend what they can sympathize and identify with. Abusers (and their "codependent" enablers) are the ones who defend abusers. This is worth bearing in mind any time this kind of muck comes up. People's reactions will tell you a hell of a lot about who they really are. Parents, keep your children the hell away from anyone who talks like Joe White. The kind of language he uses about Newman is about the biggest red flag anyone could ever wave. Monsters want sympathy for monsters and endless "forgiveness/tolerance/reconciliation" for victims....and of course, endless re-victimization, too.
Because their negligence allowed this to happen and they are liable. These people have deep pockets and don't want to be held accountable for their criminal negligence, which means paying off victims to shut up like the Catholic church did. Despicable people can use religion for their own evil purposes that are entirely contrary to the organization's original mission. The boy Scouts was the same situation. It started out as a wonderful group that taught boys so many useful skills and degenerated into what it has become today. Sexual predators infiltrated and destroyed that organization.
@ryry32 Rosenbum is completely irrelevant to this video bud, and his criminal record had nothing to do with why Kyle killed him. Plus, Kyle clearly has nothing against pedos, considering how much he and Matt Gaetz love each other.
Every single leader was complicit in the abuse and should be held criminally liable. My heart is so grieved for the victims and thier experience of people who grossly misuse the tremendous power and responsibility entrusted to them. What's worse, to abuse at all, and the most vulnerable at that, in the name of God, is just utterly sickening.
This is totally appalling. Not only is White out of touch he seems complicit. I hope the children and families get healing and compensation. Incredibly negligent and duplicit actions by this "kamp". Hope they are forced to close. Thanks for bringing us this information. Lvya
That response from the camp that the NDA’s were for the victims is horrendous. It shows the camp has not really learnt and progressed from these abuses as well as their victim blaming culture.
If his bosses let him get away with this S.A. it makes you wonder what type of people themselves are maybe they also engage in this type of behavior.I am glad this pervert was finally put in jail.I hope all the victims have been able to heal.
Nothing like victimizing the victim over and over again. It's absolutely deplorable that the camp it's staff and legal counsel swept all instances of child abuse under the rug several times and required non-disclosure contracts. At the end of the day all of this comes down to money. The camp hides all instances of abuse so they can continue to profit. I guess they were absent from bible study the day greed was studied. I can't imagine the pain the victims and Ashton felt when dealing with all the variations of what they could and couldn't share. It's infuriating to say the least.
In all honesty, I think it's about a lot more than money. Birds of a feather flock together. Monsters protect monsters. Rapists sympathize with rapists and defend them. Normal people don't. Anyone involved in these types of cover-ups is a seriously perverted, depraved creature. Including the females. Remember Ghislaine Maxwell. I don't know what happened to such freakish women or how they got that way, but they are also deviants of some kind. And the fact that Joe Whites and Pete Newmans are rampant in SO freaking many different churches and religions...it says something. About the corruption of the flock, as well as the leadership. If they were really following God, they would never fall for such glaringly unholy leaders and their cultic BS. No, they're following a very, very different spirit. And they'll share his fate hereafter.
Canadian tribal natives, more commonly known as "first nations" have been telling their stories for many years for the abuse from the catholic priests and nuns as far back as the 19th century in the residential school system, of which to this day they are still fighting for justice, not to mention the very recent discovery of unmarked graves of native children found on these now abandoned residential school grounds who were most likely beaten to death decades ago. and right now some native leaders are trying to set up an audience with the pope to ask for an apology for the abuse to them, which for years now they have been referring to as Cultural genocide.........
Hope all the victims that want to be heard can find their voice and the courage to come out and speak their truth. These church leaders should serve jail time for allowing the monster to continue abusing children year after year.
@@skygun5013 It isn't cancel culture to want justice for the victims of paedophiles. They will continue to abuse children as long as they can get away with it.
God says “it is better to tie a milestone around your neck than to hurt my little ones” the punishment waiting for these men on the other side is horrific beyond measure and rightfully so
A Christian man made me fearful of older men. I didn't say anything because I wasn't a part of their church, so i didn't know what to do or who to go to. When I mentioned it to a mental health professional, she helped me contact the right authorities. Thanks to that man, his family and their church, I have not been able to move on for years. Every time I am left alone with an older man, or any man that I don't know, I get panicky.
I know that it's alot to ask for but can't everyone just stop and protect our babies. If you see something or hear something always go with PROTECTING THE CHILD!!
I went to this camp for 12 different summers growing up, me and my sister have a picture with Pete Newman, I remember him speaking and how much of a positive influence he has had on people, I was never abused thankfully, I was so crushed to hear what Pete did when he got arrested years ago, and how poorly kanakuk handled all of this. This video was so hard to watch for me but I’m glad I did. Thoughts and prayers for all victims
I remember this camp being a huge deal when I was younger and being reminded every summer how far I was from being able to afford something like this. I guess it was for the best, never thought being poor would benefit me.
Parents- don’t send your children into the arms of strangers! Predators are looking for ways to draw close to children. Volunteering at a camp or being employed by one is right up their alley. I would never send my children to a summer camp!
Your first call upon hearing a complaint is *not* to call the place where abuse has occurred. Instead you call the authorities, a counselor, then media to keep the police hounded for answers. You do not call the place where the abuse occurred, you have your lawyer contact them! PERIOD
How is an NDA even constitutional or legally binding? It's inherently coercive and whose purpose is only to cover up crimes committed by those in positions of power. I don't at all see any other purpose to an NDA functionally. It's the civil equivalent of criminal conspiracy charges - difference is one gets the victim sued, and the other is a crime
Opps we did wrong, no heres some money and sign a paper that says you'll never tell anyone how bad we really are. The greed in this country is gonna be our downfall.
I’m a pastor. Anyone in leadership, secular or religious, who knowingly covers up sexual abuse must be held liable for assisting in destroying the lives of the people they’re called to protect. And writing a check with an NDA doesn’t cut it.
I was a victim of childhood sexual abuse not by this or any church group. But, I have known a few victims of church groups and the shame associated with the sexual abuse can be HUGE. If you hear a person tell of their experience be a friend to them. These parents are good to stand up and give voice to the voiceless
Immature decision making?!?!? How about not put adults that make “immature decisions” in charge of children. How mature does one have to be to know that adults shouldn’t be teaching kids to play naked games..seriously the most stupid response I’ve ever heard and he knew it because he could even answer with a straight face..he smirked serval times at how incredibly stupid his answer was.
I grew up going to Kanakuk, during the time period this was happening at Kanakuk. I will not send my children to Kanakuk for any reason. My heart hurts for the victims. They deserve to speak out.
Branson does a REALLY good job of sweeping stuff like this under the rug. Anything that could stain the town's reputation as a family friendly vacation destination gets quieted. But this is an extremely religious area full of homeless people, people living in extended-stay motels, lots and lots of meth, property crimes, and ignorant hypocrites. I'm not saying it's a bad place overall, but it's not the shining gem people believe it to be.
During my first summer as a K-Kountry kamper (2002 or 2003), Pete gave a very emotional sermon of some sort (wearing some doctor scrubs I think, for some reason) then every kid on the way out of the gym was emotionally / religiously coerced into hugging him on the way out of the gym before we went back to our cabins. Hundreds of kids lined up. Does anyone else remember this?
He did this in 1996-99 when I was at K-Kountry. I completely forgot until I saw your comment. I’m pretty sure I have photos with him buried somewhere in my mom’s albums.
@@larsland It's crazy how we don't even remember some of the most weird stuff until someone else mentions it. We were just little kids, we didn't know what was weird.

Calling yourself a Christian doesn’t make you a Christian neither does slapping Christian on your camp name. I pray for these men’s healings because that trauma effects way more down the line. As someone speaking from a place of healing from similar abuse, God does love you and the unfortunate events that happened to you were not your fault or His. Understand there’s both good and evil in this world and it’s important to have your eyes opened to identify that evil early and nip it in the bud. A lot of people will say it has nothing to do with being Christian or catholic but it does. People being able to speak about it is the only way things start changing.
Nonsense. This is what Jesus Christ, the one who Christians, true Christians follow said: This what Jesus think about people who abuse children Matthew 18:6-7 6 “If anyone causes one of these little ones-those who believe in me-to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. 7 Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble!
WTF??!
It was such a creepy, controlling environment and I have no doubt they would shame victims of abuse under the guise of the abused having a "lack of faith."
Joe White is a creep.

If the camp still exist and nothing has been done to shut this organization down.
I'm sorry this happened to you and I wish you to find peace on your healing Journey.

People think just because it’s their religion nothing like that can happen. It is everywhere. Absolutely everywhere, every religion, every group, every community.
Sure. This is about Christian camps. Don’t deflect.

1 At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”
2 He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them.

It seems to me the judge that ruled that the camp can't be held liable is in someone's pocket.
100%
That judge probably partakes in inappropriate activities which involves victims under the age of 18 or 21!
Yep, no judge worth their salt would make such a ruling, after everything thats happend.

The other, however, somewhat reluctantly said that he wanted to move cabins because one of the counselors “is creepy, always looking at me and putting his arm around me.”
I’m not sure what happened after that except that the counselor left with the cops, in handcuffs.
Yes, they put in this video as if religious institutions don't care for the kids; nothing further from the true.
Then there's this:
"[T]he nudity was just weird. They made us boys walk naked from our tee pee to the showers and we all were crammed in the showers together, the counselors would shower naked with us too, very inappropriate. My counselor would even walk around the tee pee naked, for no reason."
Sounds like pedophile heaven.
Seriously?
People actually sit in a " church " and watch a man prance around with a CROSS on his shoulders?
The mockery and self righteousness.
That alone should send up red flags.
Prime example of the blind leading the blind
Every year at Easter some churches put on crucifixions actually nailing believers to crosses. In one when putting the cross upright the jolt makes the nails pull thru the hands and the believer falls off
I've sat through a lot of church and plenty of rough christmas plays and yeah that was weird.
What do you expect from deluded and life-long indoctrinated religious people? They are LITERALLY cult members, and there are billions of them.
Exactly my feelings with that scene.
Heartless people doing that. Absolutely reckless and bullying in a higher form!

Right. Because they are not legal adults. Children can't legally sign into contracts etc.
Most victims didn’t press charges until they were adults. Grooming is real and it can take a long time to process what happened.
Although the settlements occurred when the victims were no longer minors, I don’t think it’s ever ethical to claim that the sexual abuse they suffered *as a minor* cannot be discussed because it may disparage Kanakuk.

This is so disgusting and my heart goes out to the victims. That excuse that the abuse was a drop in the bucket of good is SICK!!!
Liability waiver? WTF??
Danika Bass > Is the "liability waiver" a written document that is signed and dated by each camp attendee's parents or legal guardian, that could serve as documentary evidence?
In many or most if not all legal jurisdictions, if a "liability waiver" or "waiver of specific individual rights" is acquired by fraud, constructive fraud, non-disclosure fraud or other deception, then it legally has no validity.

But the creatures you're describing have no compassion for ordinary people (especially female, obviously) or for ordinary sin. God says “it is better to tie a milestone around your neck than to hurt my little ones” the punishment waiting for these men on the other side is horrific beyond measure and rightfully so
These parents are heroes.
That FILTHY PIG, I STRONGLY FEEL MY YOUNGER BROTHER WAS BEING MOLESTED AT HANNA BOYS CENTER, IN SONOMA, CALIF.
“Hot-tub Bible Study”
Oh my word. A sick world.
👏👏👏
Opps we did wrong, no heres some money and sign a paper that says you'll never tell anyone how bad we really are. The greed in this country is gonna be our downfall.
I bet Newman has some dirt on Joe White
I’m a pastor. Anyone in leadership, secular or religious, who knowingly covers up sexual abuse must be held liable for assisting in destroying the lives of the people they’re called to protect.
And writing a check with an NDA doesn’t cut it.
"Hot tub bible studies." That right there should have been a red flag for everyone.
They should all be arrested for being accomplices to the crime . The bystander effects is real .
They should start a gofundme to pay for the lawyer fees when they speak
That’s a great idea
💯
The white family has a reputation in Branson its not a good one
Branson Misery.
Any town In the US that thrives on tourist dollars does the same - no place is perfect -
During my first summer as a K-Kountry kamper (2002 or 2003), Pete gave a very emotional sermon of some sort (wearing some doctor scrubs I think, for some reason) then every kid on the way out of the gym was emotionally / religiously coerced into hugging him on the way out of the gym before we went back to our cabins.
@@brandonkoster2192 right? A lot of things are clicking into place.
I was a discipleship leader of college women who served in each of the camps. One of the concerns I had was the cult like behavior but also I did know Pete and Joe and I did have some concerns about the way the camp dead things. And as a person of color, when you see the letter K after each of the camps letters you're starting to wonder is there some white supremacy there as well.
Immature and poor judgement?!?
Are you actually serious??
It’s predatory and evil…. Pure evil!!!!
Im from the heart of missouri. I’m telling you there are HORRORS going on there. Things you can’t even imagine. I have literally been an alcoholic for the past couple years because of it lowkey. I grew up orthodox presbatyrian. My grandmother is known across the entire state for her teachings, to the point where I was recognized by people I don’t even know just because we are related to her. Nobody knew what was going on behind closed doors. They still don’t. Or they don’t care.
Take time to get to know God for yourself outside of the Bible thumping; Jesus is the only way to Him but the gospel is to be received, not forced. 🤍
God bless
Religion needs way more calling-out. So let’s support a lot of atheist-channel, who constantly try to help truth and facts and always try to dissect Religion.
@@emanuelrrasi327 Ok,
but what about the BLATANT stupidity of the claim ‚It aint Religion, it’s just the Churches!!’? I mean, you must see the point in that claim that is contradictary as f-ck?
@@emanuelrrasi327 Do you sometimes read your comment before posting it??
Do you think Christians cannot sin? Go look up the No True Scotsman fallacy.
@@nenmaster5218 🤓 hes right
Breaks my heart learning about this. I hope this "evil" place closes.
I am leaving tomorrow for this camp knowing that it’s a safe place that I’ve been to many times
You can pretty much summarize Christianity by saying "these people aren't who you think they are".
Yep!
vice is just pure political propaganda, if you cant see through it you need help
@@patmegroin5512 So these parents are part of that agenda?
@@patmegroin5512 Say you're butt hurt without saying you're butt hurt.
@@patmegroin5512 religion is a device for control, if you can't see that then get help.
A lot of people will say it has nothing to do with being Christian or catholic but it does. People being able to speak about it is the only way things start changing.
Nonsense. This is what Jesus Christ, the one who Christians, true Christians follow said:
This what Jesus think about people who abuse children
Matthew 18:6-7
6 “If anyone causes one of these little ones-those who believe in me-to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. 7 Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come!”
Children are precious and should always be protected and guided by the adults who they trust. ‼️🤍
No person who abuses children is a Christian‼️‼️
These people are not Christians. Nowhere in the bible does Jesus condone any type of child abuse. In fact he stands against it
You’re absolutely right.
