    1. Take a 2-3 second break in between repetitions 3:05
    2. Constant BPM, alternate between 1/8th triplets and 1/16th notes 6:08
    3. Keep your technique consistent at all speeds 7:20

It's funny how overlooked this concept is. When I took lessons many years ago it was always "just keep practicing with the metronome". Some people were lucky enough to figure this out on their own but I've probably wasted years of practicing on auto pilot. good vid!

“Auto pilot”... You are absolutely correct, Sir.

The resting between reps is something I've been doing, but never consciously thought about. It totally gives your brain time to analyze and try to correct, even in that brief amount of time.

this changes practice! imagine it's the one time, got to get it right, then examine, then fix, all beginners on day 1 need to see this. i mean, i did examine and try to fix, but repetition makes it right, right? not necessarily, it may, but it will take you longer and a hell of a lot more waste of practice time! thanks for this!!!

I was listening to Andrew hubermans podcast on learning recently and 10 seconds is the optimum time to rest between takes apparently

Sounds very smart and also... Less straining on your joints. Personally as a person who spends his time on the computer all day as my job, I can easily injure myself if In not careful.

Hey Michael, just a small non-opinionated suggestion for improving your videos. Make a -6-8db bell cut around 140hz and you'll immediately sound much more professional. Thanks for your lessons!
