- Back to South Wales this week for a wild camp on Sugarloaf mountain in the Brecon Beacons. This was another cold weather camping trip, setting up on the summit of the mountain during a glorious sunset we felt the chill.
after a cold night we were greeted by a gorgeous sunrise and some cloud inversion.

Good to see you are enjoying your self in a place you obviously love. The views of the scenery and the sun setting are spectacular, well done Dan and Warren glad you enjoyed your selves, take care up there.

Great video Dan, and me mate, Reindeer all the way with out a shadow of a doubt. The views looked amazing up there. I'm head up to Cadair Idris in a week or so. I hope the weather is as good as you had. I can do cold, but cold and wet is never a good combo bud.
After the fog left, I bet that sky was superb.

Thanks mate, yeah we were extremely fortunate with the weather conditions.. other than the cold it was glorious! the days either side of this trip were wet and miserable in South Wales.

It was early February and bitterly cold. That probably helped it not be as busy as normal.

Sorry Dan I'm with Linley, you can keep your reindeer. I don't like meatballs either but out of the two. You spoilt us at Christmas! Fantastic photography, views spectacular. Easy to see why you love it. Thanks for another great video x

If I was in that much cold I'd eat the zreindeer stew as an entree and the Beans and meatballs as a main followed up with Warrens Custard Dan... comfort food.. lol.. Magic camp guys we have a Sugarliaf mountain and it's just as rocky. Bushyboy Oz.
it seems a popular name for a mountain, and it suits the top I suppose.

Dan👍👍 Huffing and puffing up the hill was good for you, the view at the top was well worth the effort eh.. You and Warren pitched camp at a precarious place, surprised you found ground to stake the tents down. Yeah I bet it was cold there, top of the hill and no wind break. No sitting around the fire enjoying some adult beverages this time. Real Turmat, good stuff I hear but they don't import to the US...bummer. Warren always with that mile wide smile tells the tale, another fine adventure. Great video, well filmed, thanks. See ya next time. Enjoy!

My grandmother's house had a view of the Sugarloaf, so it's a mountain I have a huge affection for, although I haven't been to the top since I was a teenager. I must spend more time in that neck of the woods!
We got so lucky, either side of these nights we had was rain, and I had been expecting wet weather if I'm honest. such a lovely surprise to have clear, sunny skies.
I'd watch a Tweedy in the mountains episode!

I wouldn't want to Bivi at this time of year. the biting wind is what makes it cold.. sheltering in the tent is the place to be.. no chance of that with a bivi!

Hi Dan,that's a good one.there is a ski resort in Vermont same name sugarloaf!.Famous around New England area..pretty scenery Dan..take care now....PS will it snow on. Your mountain also?
I think there is a sugarloaf in Australia too. popular name : )
yes it can snow in these mountains, and often does, I was kind of hoping for some on this trip but no joy there.
I think its more likely in December/January.

Yes, it can be done. Just about room for 2 tents, but ample for 1. You just need to wiggle it about a bit to avoid the lumps. Pegs went in the ground fine though.
Spectacular place to wake up! I highly recommend it.

Am literally packing my bag watching vids, heading out for a late night camp….Sugarloaf is one of my ‘locals’ so am considering heading there when this popped up!! You should try the edge of the Blorange. It’s virtually opposite you, on top of Abergavenny as you head over to Blaenavon. Are you still in this neck of the woods tonight?
It’s so heavily eroded up there compared to only a few years ago. Always take new tents up there as always windy….
Have a look at the difference erosion wise compared to only a few years ago….

Warren had been on Blorange earlier in the year, we were talking about it during the evening. its another one on my list.
this was filmed in early February I had some computer issues that delayed its editing.
