I don't think I would ever run giant fenders on my personal bike but I really appreciate that you do! Nothing worse than trying to enjoy a sick trail with a giant mud blob in the middle of the picture.
Loved the last couple of trails. Also, once I installed cushcore my corners improved greatly as I am getting such incredible traction with sidewall support. 10 years of motocross racing doesn’t hurt either.
Finally a trail i could ride but much slower lol. What nice trails. Here in Western pa the trails are so crowded even if there was no virus i would not ride them. Like a mall at Christmas Thanks for the great videos
I enjoyed the techie part with the infrared thermometer, as I've been curious about what heats up when riding. You should have pointed at yourself at the start and end as well. 😄
@@JeffKendallWeed Ya we were all clucking like a bunch of hen's when you dropped that. Next time make it look harder. But technically that's a wheelie. I'm saying manual evo to falls park. But seriously make try and make it look hard. I 🤣
Haven’t had the occam for about a year now, but if I recall correctly that was an RRP Proguard that I got from their Canadian distributor. Congrats on the bike, ireally liked the Occam!
great video jeff! definitely enjoyed the experiment with heat gun! would love to hear further analysis on the matter if that's possible. just got my first set of clipless pedals and shoes in today and been playing around with them on the hardtail. its pretty scary actually but really want to learn to ride with clips. keep up the great work man! would like to see how you organize your bike cave too btw.. im fixing to start working on setting mine up when my shop/storage shed gets here next week. Cheers!
Congrats on the shed Jon! I’m terrible at organization, so I haven’t ever done a “garage check” type vid. I’d like to do one about my office one of these days tho!
1. A video (or multiple) on the some of the trail sponsors would be very interesting. Why they do it and what does it entail (financial or volunteering or both). Also a discussion with the local trail organization on how the trail sponsorship's are utilized. Does it actually go to the specific trail or is it like buying a sponsor brick for a non-profit building project. 2. Who hates on fenders? Do people actually like mud in their mouths?
Thanks for the note Alex! I'd love to do a Bellingham episode of the Local Loam series, but it's hard to do that since I'm not really an outsider any more. Anyhow, the local group here has multiple full time employees. They negotiate land use easements, secure grants, secure sponsorship, and actively plan and physically build (along with some volunteers, too) lots of new trails. When a trail gets adopted by a sponsor, the sponsor owes $500 per year for the sponsorship assuming that the sponsor then takes care of the trail work. If a sponsor is not physically able to do the trail work, they can adopt a trail for $2000 per year (and the club's professional builders will do the work). The local club is rad and currently has around a $450k annual budget. 2. Lots of people on the internet tell me it's not worth it to be seen with fenders like this and that Im silly.
I hope my question about the logging didn’t come off as too negative the other day! I love these videos, btw. I’m generally do my rides in the afternoon, but these are making me want to do some sunrise rides in the near future. And I’ll look into the patreon as soon as I have income again! 😂😭
Thanks for the note Dennis! I can’t even remember all the comments about logging but there have been many over the years. I just want to keep reminding folks that we are guests on a logging property in the first place. If it was all owned by the MTB club that’d be awesome of course, but that hasn’t been possible. Maybe one day!
Jeff Kendall-Weed yeah, I had no idea it was logging property before you said that! Most of the trails in the North East are in State Parks, I incorrectly assumed it was the same there.
So let me get this straight all of those amazing trial are next to your home like you don't have to drive anywhere you just hop on the bike and voila? You are a lucky man friend!
"Too much talking, not enough riding" in the best troll voice. This has got to be one of the funniest vids Jeff has put out in a long time. Maybe the lack of sleep and getting up early is making Jeff a little loopy and more comical.
Man I wish I could rail the corners like you Jeff. If I get even slightly close to your speeds I start to wash out, I am positive it is my not ideal body position and not getting my weight in the appropriate place for the tires to get the best traction. Guess I better go out and ride and get in some more practice.
I'm curious to ask you Jeff: How do you manage trail traffic while you're flying through these trails? The reason I ask, is because at my local trails there is an obvious increase ( due to Covid-19) of hikers and other riders. I always put safety first but some people don't pay attention, have their earbuds on, etc. There are many blind areas which can be dangerous when descending. I always yell "heads up" and now with my new bell I ring the hell out of it which helps, but it gets tiresome. FYI, my local trail is: WaterDog Park, in Belmont CA, it's near San Mateo, which is literally my backyard. I just ride to the trail head and hit it! Some of the other trails are closed ( like Skeggs point - maybe you're familar?) here in NorCal, otherwise I would ride somewhere else.
Avoid weekends but i'm not sure your local trail is open on weekdays. I went 2 weekend this and last month and oh man...there was a lot of hikers and mtbers in HUGE group with no social distancing and they are friends(not in family). So i am avoiding going weekends anymore until the lockdown end or ease down. Best is to go between Monday - Friday in early morning or late afternoon...yep no people or less people like solo or couple even mtbers. I live in Singapore and the park only open at 7am and i avoid going in the afternoon coz of the weather...either it's very hot and humid or raining out of nowhere but depends on my mood. LOL.
Well there are lots of birds and probably cougars and bobcats but they tend to hide really well. We have some black bears on the hill but I’ve still not seen them. Plenty of coyotes and fox but I haven’t caught them on GoPro yet
I sincerely appreciate your Patreon's, but if you did a comprehensive cornering tutorial on just those 4 corners you would gain quite a few subs I bet. I could almost guarantee that if you and Bryn A. teamed up, you both would hit 100k subs easy.
Jason, that's funny you write that, I literally did a tutorial on exactly those turns last summer! It's posted here: www.patreon.com/posts/30389457. I don't think I'll ever be able to rope Bryn into teaming up, but that would be super fun!
You have unreal flow and your cornering is sooo dialed. This video showcases it so well it's 20 mins of pure satisfaction
Thanks Elias!
I like the commentary about the different trail names, etc.... Great videos. 👍
Looks like a really fun XC ride!
I don't think I would ever run giant fenders on my personal bike but I really appreciate that you do! Nothing worse than trying to enjoy a sick trail with a giant mud blob in the middle of the picture.
Hahahaha thanks Paul!!!!
Thanks for having the fenders!
Hahaha thanks for the fender positivity V!
Please make a tutorial on how to corner so hard. That's just amazing to watch.
His corner are brutal...
Front brake into corner to compress fork, pump out on the rebounding fork. Wash rinse repeat.
Dirt samples required.
Really liking the daily riding vlogs....you've got me looking at new Mtn bikes. (from a roadie for 35+ years) Please do as many as you can.
Hahaha awesome Joe!! Thanks for watching.
Jeff said “that’s dangerous.” For once 😂
Loved the last couple of trails. Also, once I installed cushcore my corners improved greatly as I am getting such incredible traction with sidewall support. 10 years of motocross racing doesn’t hurt either.
Yesterday I put my bike in the shop, it needs a new rear wheel... Today I'm missing riding, but this makes me feel a bit better! Thanks Jeff!
You videos are always amazing.
On the temp checks - I love it!
I'm always curious how my mine are but always forget to check it.😁
That thermometer check was a really cool idea. Especially when it's a bit cooler and you can see the difference even more than usual.
That manual at the end was crazy
You’re a demon on that back wheel man. Great vid. Thanks.
superB!!!!! amazing place and videos! congrats!
"Don't say that too loud or specialized will come after you" - I died
Same.
Thanks Jeff, great motivation to get out first thing.
Jeff Slaying a 140mm bike. Casually on a workday morning. Crazy.
What a fun video thank you. Just a ride to go ride, how it should be.
Finally a trail i could ride but much slower lol. What nice trails. Here in Western pa the trails are so crowded even if there was no virus i would not ride them. Like a mall at Christmas
Thanks for the great videos
Jeff is the best youtuber I follow !! Love it Jeff
LOL, your commentary was cracking me up today. Rock the fenders, they serve a purpose. Besides, the haters couldn’t keep up with you anyways.
Mudhuggers are super effective. They work well on slush, too.
Great Stuff Jeff keep @it loving the trails and the Videos 😜🚴👌
Another awesome video, Jeff!
Love the videos, keep up the great work!

+1 for the patreon support. Jeff's tutorials are 🔥
You must live close to the trails, so nice!!
That part you said you bucked and almost died on. That’s funny i like hucking that one but a couple times I hit way to high up lol
Just manual the whole hill.
One clip. Towers down.
You got this.
Hahaha do you remember this? th-cam.com/video/T9DXRxg3IM8/w-d-xo.html

Lol that’s way too far! I’m not very good at long manuals believe it or not! I prefer the weird ones through turns and sketchy spots
Great video.
Very good Spanish spoken lol
Thank you!
I need to learn how to corner like that it looks so fun
Dude, your riding is aggro AF, loving it. Kinda made me want to buy an Occam.
So I kept waiting for you to go to light speed you were riding so fast 😂🔥🔥
Jeff I appreciate hearing speak Spanish, it’s cool and funny, where did you learn?
Your riding is so smooth, the only way I can only tell you're jumping is because the wheel noise stops!
Hahaha thanks Mom!
Great riding, super vid 👍
Thanks man!
cant imagine talking to yourself on that woods;)
MOAR Hardtails! MOAR fenders! I love both. ;-)
How tall are you? What size Occam you riding? I want to buy an occam but don't know what size to purchase. THANKS
Hi what mudguards are that. Anyway bought Occam M10 2021 with 150 front two weeks ago.
Haven’t had the occam for about a year now, but if I recall correctly that was an RRP Proguard that I got from their Canadian distributor. Congrats on the bike, ireally liked the Occam!
Would you recommend the Orbea Occam over the stumpjumper?
Jesus, both bikes get great reviews- but I have not yet ridden a modern Stumpjumper. I'd think either one would be fine for most folks though.

Amazing, what camera set up are you using?
Hey Jeff, what rear mud deffender are you using in this occam? Looks good build to resist your jumps:))
Hey Gabe, it's a Mud Hugger, works pretty well! It works much better than I ever expected. I have 3 of them now.

Yeah Jeff with the Spanish. 🤙🤙 hermano!
Thanks Henry!!!
What size the Occam ??
Do you still ride the Highroller/rekon combo?
Love the manuals, just awesome, love to see you review the new (Jensen) Evil Following v3?
How can you lean the bike so much on flat turns without losing traction on the front ? Hero dirt or what ?

the title of this one should have been "aww i missed the jump" :-D
YES!!! Maybe another video- rest assured, I miss plenty of jumps.
