My newborn was transferred to another hospital NICU unit around midnight. Two nurses on duty came in my room and sat with me as I freaked out. I thought it was because they weren’t busy haha. The next day I realized no, the maternity floor was totally full. My baby turned the corner two weeks later, and we went back to thank those nurses after her 6 week checkup. That baby is 28 yo now. Thank you Doylestown Hospital maternity nurses 👸🏻

I'm not a nurse, just a CNA, but our charge nurse is great. She works much harder than she's given credit for and does much more than a lot of people realize. I was going to go to school for nursing, which seemed like the next logical step from CNA but I actually decided to go for health care admin because SOMEBODY who has actually worked on the floor of a health care facility should be trying to take care of the nurses and CNAs (And Doctors, because you all put in some brutal hours.) who take care of our patients.

A Doctor of many talents! Well done! I had a Nurse named Maria, she prayed for me as she rubbed my back as I dry-heaved. I apparently was suffering Pulmonary Embolism. I was in emergency Observation. What I was suffering from.....disappeared, and so did the Nurse, as I never saw her again, even when I went back to thank her. Never forget, that a Nurse may in fact be your Guardian Angel or the Blessed Mother Mary in disguise. Thank you to all the Nurses who step beyond duty to pray for and with Patients, it may be the healing touches they need.

Debbie Roberts many years ago, I spent just one night in a PICU room with my daughter who was mysteriously unconscious and mostly unresponsive. I’m told than a toddler, not yet two years of age, should not have a heart rate in the 70s.
It was one of the nurses who told me the hospital crib was strong enough for me climb in with her.
About 3 in the morning, just as mysteriously, she woke up. We took her back home on Mother’s Day 1997. We never did figure out why she was so seemingly close to death, or why she just as suddenly wasn’t.
Doctors get so much of the praise, but nurses do so much of the work.

    • @YuckyMama
      @YuckyMama 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Debbie Roberts My twins were born 13 weeks early and spent 10 weeks in the NICU. Twice a NURSE noticed a life-threatening problem (my son got septic through his PIC line) and saved my kids life. That was exactly 16 years ago and I still remember the names of the 14 nurses who helped us. I don’t remember the names of the two docs.
PS. The first time I held my daughter, she was 5 days old and I was being discharged. I went into the NICU at 1AM in tears. The nurses (2 of them) transferred my child (CPAP& all lines) to my arms and let me hold her. It was Mother’s Day. Their compassion floors me.
PPS. They also had to give my son a scalp line. They knew it’s upsetting to see so they saved the hair they shaved, taped it to a card labeled “First Haircut” to make me feel better.

After this last year, I’ve struggled so much as a nurse mentally. I’ve gotten into the lowest depression I’ve ever been in. My anxiety is physically hurting my body, panic attacks daily. I finally stood up and got mental help this week, started Prozac, talking to someone. I can’t take care of people until I take care of myself. This Nurses Week I’m finally going to help myself for once. This song makes me remember I’m trying my best..

This song also made me cry because my husband says I am always taking care of others and have no time to care of myself, even when I'm sick. People see us as invincible but we are not. As a now retired nurse (after 35 years) I wish to say thank you for that....Thank you, thank you, thank you. What a lovely tribute. And thank you for acknowledging the male nurses.
It's a tough, tough job and I am just beginning to sort out the many ways it has impacted my life , the good , the bad and the ugly. I let go of some of the angst I didn't even know was there after hearing this song. The original lyrics/tune is one of my lifetime favorites. Bless you.

I don't know if you will see this comment. I cried when I saw this video because it is so true. This has been such an hard year for all of the front line nurses. I know this video was made several years ago but it still ring so true. Thank you.

We don't appreciate nurses enough. They deserve a lot more respect then they are given. They are the front line workers during pandemics, or emergency situations such as natural disasters, and human made "accidents" (we all know it's not an accident when you disobey rules, or don't bother to check something).

Thank you. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve listened to this song and shared it over time. We seriously love doctors like you. Thank you for thinking of us. 💙

That brought a tear to my mind, to all those providing care in these times, having nursed for much of my life; know that I have the greatest admiration for you all. Please take care of yourself as we have never needed you more than now.

Love this!!! I'm not a nurse yet (currently working as a PCA applying to ABSN programs) but everything you said was so true! Nurses are amazing and I can't wait to be a part of such a beautiful profession ♥️ Happy Nurse's Week everyone!

Did you get into your program? I was a PCA for the past 6 years and in December a few long time patients gave me an ultimatum, go apply and don't come back until you've got proof you did, every last one of those people in that community wished me off my last day in January, here I am roughly 3 months to finishing my LPN program in December, I wish I could have some sitting in the audience with my Wife and Daughter, thats how much their kick in the ass means to me.

How am I just seeing this now? Thank you doc! You made my day better. Horrible, heavy shift today and understaffed. You made me cry, but in a good way. We nurses appreciate you too! 😘

Me Too!!! 40+ years myself. Cloth diapers and rubber pants, gloves rare. All we knew, and loved it.
This song cracks me up, and tissue alert! memories. I was a CNA/OMT till 2008 @ 50, and got my license. This song is the bitter & the sweet.
We were blessed with the ability to wipe the weary brow. I miss all of it. I've had a hard time since retirement. Like he said in the song, we don't take care of ourselves.
So you take care, Dear Heart.

So far this year, my daughter had a tonsillectomy and my husband had a colonoscopy, they both received wonderful care from Nurse Kevin, he was training in Nurse Josh (?) when my daughter was there.
