I was an aide for six years before I got my RN and your job is just as important and you deserve to be celebrated this week just as much as us! Reppin Health 3.0 fools!

    If you could talk about the fact that lift equipment doesn't help with turning. In order to get the patient on lift equipment you have to roll them twice.

    In all honesty, it was THE NURSE that caught my mothers blood clots in her lungs. The doctors were going to treat her for pneumonia. That would have only compounded the issue. It was THE NURSE that stopped my sister from leaving the hospital because it turns out that hey those wierd clouds on the xray were really cancer, not pneumonia (again with the pneumonia docs.... Seriously thats not the only answer). It was the nurse who notice that my knee cap tgat was dislocated was turning gangerous (blood sample) and pushed to rush tlme into surgery. Honestly, nurses seem to know and catch more than the doctors.

    • @tanya5322

      Heidi Massey it was the nurses in labor and delivery that probably prevented me from getting what would have been an unnecessary C-section with my oldest. The nurse who stayed with me once pushing began...
      (And would have stayed past the end of her shift to see me deliver, but it was Christmas Eve and her children wanted to go to grandma’s house)
      She told the nurse taking over for her that while I had been pushing for almost two hours at that point, to not tell Dr SoAndSo just yet because she believed I could manage a vaginal delivery. It seems the Dr on-call that day didn’t like to let moms push past two hours.
      I don’t remember the exact timing, but it was less than an hour later that my oldest was born

      Instead of seeing it as one against the other, see it as a team effort. I’m a doctor and nurses have caught things all the time since they are with the patients more. I can also say that I’ve caught a lot of things that have helped the nurses as well. It’s a team effort. The more we dichotomize it the worse for healthcare.

      You will always be able to find a good job as a RN. As you get experience, you will find your niche and go there. Medicine is a gift that keeps on giving. Yes, sometimes you will lose the fight to keep someone alive. Yes, some people are there just to have a rest and eat a meal. Frequent Flyers is what we called them, but I understood, they needed a safe place, so I would feed them, get the settled in the hallway, and after their nap, discharge them back out to the streets. There were times when the nurses would give me a scowl for that treatment, but they did it because it was the right thing to do.

    Thanks so much Z. i always laughed because they USED TO treat the docs like they were gold, but if it wasn't for the nurses, they wouldn't have anyone to take care of the docs' patients.....now...they're not treating them right, either... so i guess health care is just effed. I loved my career and wouldn't trade it for anything. I just feel bad because over the years, things improved and they've regressed back to where we were when I started, if not worse. Good luck everyone! I'm watching your backs but not from the front anymore! Just take care of yourselves, too! because when you retire, it's a lot harder to fix what you broke when you were young and thought you could handle anything ❤

    This was awesome as the face and hard working hands of the hospital Nurses deserve a lot of credit and respect. However, what about the men and women behind the scenes that make the nurses job possible? The Pharmacy Techs. Who puts together the crash cart the Pharmacy tech your welcome. The IV Bags the Banana bags filled with the TPN the Pharmacy techs your welcome. When you need that compounded serum that was a tech on a break away. Don't mess with them when they are making your Chemo OK, your welcome.
    Just a few ideas for a Pharmacy Tech version that could hopefully be made. Because Nurses are awesome what would we do with out them but it's a team effort and the Pharmacy techs rarely get any credit for what they do behind the scenes that makes the Nurses jobs possible.

    Having been inpatient for 2 years for brain surgery, then radiation, and chemotherapy after for recurrences, nurses, and other staff do so much for patients. Doctors do a lot too, but, nurses also do a lot. I appreciate how your videos about nurses always show them as equals, rather than sub-ordinates. Thumbs up.

    • @joko3382
      @joko3382 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The entire healthcare team should rightfully be appreciated but please, please do no minimize the incredible work and effort that neurosurgeons put in. Those guys and gals deserve every dollar they earn. They worked their butts off to get into medical school, and then once they got there they only pushed themselves further to be the very top of their class - which is pretty touch when you're competing against people who are used to being at the very top of their university class.
      But it doesn't stop there. They will go on to routinely work 100 hour weeks for 8+ years in residency and fellowship. And then when they are finally neurosurgery attendings, they will still work 80 hours a week on average, performing neurosurgery nonetheless.
      I do not want to belittle nurses, but credit is due where deserved, and neurosurgeons sure do deserve some credit. Not just the 16 years of education that entails insane hours, but also their continued dedication to the field and their patients. In my opinion, I have more respect for them than any other profession.
