Hello there. I've been watching Jon and Erin's incredible videos of their northern Ontario canoe trip adventures for about 2 months now. This "Wabakimi" video and the "Lake Nipigon" video are my favorites so far because of the fabulous Geology along the shorelines. Jon captures the gorgeous colors of these ancient rocks from the close proximity that his canoe allows his cameras to do. Nobody else has done what Jon is doing! This guy is a GENIUS! He is letting the whole World know just how amazing northern Ontario is. I Majored in Geology in college...so when I see some of the beautiful rock formations throughout his videos...I frequently start drooling all over the place. A very Heavenly part of the Wabakimi video is at TIMESTAMP: 6:00-6:40. When his canoe approaches the waterfall...the music in the background sounds like angels. And then from TIMESTAMP: 6:40-8:00...Jon portages along rocky trails that are THOUSANDS of years old. His close up camera shots of the rocks in the trail allows the viewer to actually see the "wear and tear" of the rocks from where our ancestors walked for many...many years. That kind of stuff gives me goosebumps. Jon...what you're doing with your canoe...cameras... hammock...and plastic "Wolf Juice" bottle deserves many awards...
Jon , your editing has become so top notch …no lie, best channel by far I watch them multiple times to get it all in…miss Erin on your adventures sometimes, but sure there are more to come . Scotch up, scotch down …cheers!
I love your ability to capture insects & small creatures with great framing. Idk how you find time to film everything. Also, after having watched Xander eat meals fit for a village, I laughed at you saying the breakfast hash/hamburgers were way too much for one sitting 😂
Farley Mowat's books are a good read. I remember enjoying reading the Dog Who Wouldn't Be and Owls In The Family when I was young. I have an early hard cover publication of the Dog Who Wouldn't Be as it's such a memorable book.
Jon, man you are firing on all cylinders! Sharp video, great story telling, epic locations! Glad your doing this full on these days! Keep it coming! Loving it!
Congratulations on five awesome years of finding your passion and sharing it will all of us! Your films are so very relaxing and enjoyable to watch again and agin! 🎉
A fabulous trip that had so much variety. I love that you show us a bit of everything: scenery, sky, fishing, cooking, camps, wildlife, trees and plants. Just perfect!
Another great adventure mate. Some stunning country to paddle through. Except for the bugs. They look horrendous. I don’t know how you deal with them haha. Look forward to the next one mate.
Your videos are medicine for me. I like to keep a Lost Lakes video as an open tab for a week at a time and watch a portion each day, spreading it out a bit. A little dose of peace and tranquility at whatever moment I most need it. I go camping as often as I can, but they're just short little two nighters in more saturated areas. One day I would love to do the kind of trips that you do.
Well papa johnterio, im not a jealous man, or at least i was not a jealous man. After the last 3 hours of watching you amazing work, how could one not become jealous? Keep up the amazing work.

Just want to say i appreciate your care for the nature that surrounds you. Barbless hooks, saving bugs, thanking the fish, etc. It’s refreshing to see an outdoorsmen like you and your appreciation for everything.
I bought my first new, "high quality" canoe a couple of decades ago, when I was a little older than I think you are. At the time, the base canoe weighed 72 pounds. I could have shaved 20 pounds off of that by paying an extra $1000 for a fancy composite. I scoffed at that, as 72 pounds was already lighter than the old cedar strips that I had carried in my youth. Now that I am on the far side of 60, I occasionally curse my younger self for not spending the extra money and saving the 20 pounds. Don't get me wrong, it is a beautiful canoe, it is a joy to paddle, and more than meets my current needs, but when it is on my shoulders .....
Hahah it's always hard to justify that cost but I think most of us will wish we had eventually. Mine's a nice balance at 50lbs, but that's twice a true ultralight these days which is amazing
Jon, Your music and editing really showcase the beauty of the environment. All the wildlife is so wonderful to see from the moose, bear down to the frogs, and dragonflies. Reminds me of my time in the white mountains of New Hampshire camping and swimming in the streams and lakes. Cheers from Maryland
A brilliant adventure and a wonderful trip to watch from my lounge room in Australia. Thanks for all the effort you take to bring us along for the ride.

You really put forth so much effort into these videos and trips. It's a priviledge to watch. I hope some day I can experience Canada wilderness in a similar fashion as you.
For the horse flies, try going to a lawn and garden store and buy one of those fake dragonfly decorations that most resembles a real dragonfly and attach it to your canoe
Totally enjoyable video, Jon. What a great adventure, beautiful country, the fish were biting. You really saw some temperature extremes. In Alaska, deet was the best bug repellent. Not sure if they banned it but it works. It should help with no-seeums too. I worked with a forester who had a clip on thing that she wore on her belt. It worked! Thank you for taking us along! Love your good humor.
@@LostLakes ❤️ I can appreciate that. I know it’s not good for you. I’ve not seen you guys carrying Cutters or any sort of bug repellent. I see AB Camping carry thermacell. He activates it and then tucks it out of the way. I’m not familiar with it. For an open lake you may be able to put the thing towards the front of your canoe to help keep mosquitoes away. I’m former Air Force. We called the Alaskan mosquitoes B-52’s because they were really large. I imagine those you’re dealing with would be their Canadian cousins. 😉

Thank you so much Melanie! Love to hear that 💚 Hahah we're spoiled with lakes here in Canada so don't hold your lakes to that standard 😜 And the flip side of that coin is that the whole country is a breeding ground for mosquitoes!
Absolutely beautiful area. In Waco, Texas, we are 21 straight days over 100° and we received .01 rain during the month of July. We are under water restrictions as our grass turns brown and leaves fall off the trees. Seeing the lushness of the land, especially the wild flowers, and the rain was lovely. Please send some down to us . Give my best to Erin. Peace.

Wow!! The most beautiful country in the world. 2 of us have been archery hunting moose east out of Armstrong for over 20 years. Love your videos of this area. It’s home in my heart!!
I watch a lot of solo trippers, you are top notch buddy! Not just your love of the bush, but you have a real gift of videography, awesome camera work and excellent editing !
Great video of wilderness paddling. Beautiful blue waters, waterfalls, sunsets, wildlife spottings. You got thru the volume of bugs and heavy rainstorms. What an adventure!
this video brought back some of my finest camping memories. This route overlapped some of the stretches I passed through ages ago and it's great to see the wilderness as pristine as I experienced it back then. I'm so looking forward to seeing you traverse this massive park for years to come. Best channel on youtube!
Wow, Jon, this was your best one yet!! The cinematography and music really brought the story together. Your B-roll was A-roll quality!! Very well done.
Wow,thank you Jon for this beautiful mosaic of nature! Moose, eagles, bear, beaver, and a billion mosquitoes!! You are a better man than I am Gunga Din! Love your work, it’s such a respite from the BS on YT! Blessings
DUDE! I cannot believe I am just now discovering your content. Absolutely love it. Living the busy city life that I do, its so great to live vicariously through you on your amazing adventures. Cheers buddy! Keep up the fantastic content.
Great content again. Perfectly described the feeling of being in the bush and wetlands. Wetlands are so often overlooked and underappreciated. I love riding out thunder storms in the bush (when you are prepared for it). This made me excited to get out this weekend. Regarding the neon spider; they are called Goldenrod Spiders. They actually hide in flowers and feed on unsuspecting bees, flies, and butterflies.
Fantastic video Jon. Thanks for posting, as always. Loved the waterfall footage. Going up to the Boundary Waters at the end of Sept. I'll be sure to spill one out "for the purple platypus bag brothers not here..."
Beautiful trip Jon. You did well to portray Elf Lake as you described it. Seemed like a little dreamland that dropped into your route. It's a privilege to be able to watch your videos and experience part of the country I may never get to see with my own eyes (but hopefully Ontario is in my future multiple times 🤞)
I really enjoyed the flow at the beginning of this one, it was just quick enough without being choppy at all, so much fun to watch. Way to keep raising the bar.
Loved watching this video love the sound of silence as you explore such beauty😃not sure if I could stay sane with so many bugs I live in Australia we have mosquitoes and midges but yours are next level😂
I'm a little late to the game here but this was just a pleasure to watch. Glad everything went well and was injury free. I'd offer that your video work is cinematography level. We don't regularly see these little things (the neon spider) so it's a joy to watch this all unfold. Great work! Best of luck on your next journey!
Wonderful adventure to watch in the evening after a long, hot work week (W-O-R-K - you remember ... one of those 4 letter words .... har har). Wonderful cadence during the entire 1 hour 45 minutes. Scenery and videography were stunning. What a place. Absolute thrill to watch. Correct me if I'm wrong, but mild insanity seems to have set in around day 7 (the poetry in the Park, the talk with "Wilson" ... aka your hat). I blame it on the heat and the bugs ... with some help from the Scotch. Thank you. Can't imagine it getting any better than this.
Jon, that was awesome!! Well except for the millions of flying insects! Today is my 57th birthday and I chose to watch your trip! Thank you for the adventure!
You have transformed on the rapids Jon, kneeling has given you stability and now that you have it you've really picked up the game on the white water. Another great trip, would personally like to do a trip in Wabikimi. It's an AMAZING place. Your videography and story telling skills are now second to none and you're even polishing the acting session lol.
So glad to see your starting to get more followers! You deserve it. Always enjoy your silliness and your love of our incredible land. You do it justice. 🇨🇦
I'm getting too old for spring/early summer trips strictly due to the amount of bugs. I think you may find this the case for yourself eventually, especially for longer outings. Would be hard to pass up such great fishing and the beautiful scenery though. Good on ya, Jontario!
Hahah I made a note for next year to spend June on Superior...bugs can still be bad of course but at least you don't have to portage in them! Thanks ET :)
Dude this is some of your best work for sure, Wabakimi is an incredible place and I’m grateful to only live 3 hours away. Really has me stoked for my 8 day solo in Quetico 6 days from now! Cheers!!
Both you and Xander inspired me to do more of this type of stuff. Literally getting a driving license so that I can go up to places like this without relying on anyone. Cheers and love from Toronto
I’ve been saving your videos in my watch list for the past few months so I could watch these summer trips when the nights get long and the weather gets bad… that time has come and present me is now thanking past me :D
Johntario/ papa John, sequence 26:29 to 28:38 is a masterpiece. Music on this video is the best I've ever seen in your channel bro, really working keep it going!!
What a place. That waterfall at about 9:00, maybe the best. Normally don't watch these during the day... but it's 35 out, enough outside today. Will watch the rest later.
Kopka was unreal. Rushed through it to avoid the portages in the rain (dangerously slippery) but will definitely be back to soak it in. The headnet makes its grand debut here. Worked beautifully, best head net I've used by far. Thanks so much Bern, stay cool!

Thank you so much SS!
Excellent video papa john
Hahah thank you
Another great trip and another great video. Really enjoyed those wide drone shots with the background music guiding you through each scene. Amazing. 👏
Much appreciated DO :)
Content is unbelievable, especially those sunsets and reflextions at the 1:15 mark
Great video of wilderness paddling. Beautiful blue waters, waterfalls, sunsets, wildlife spottings. You got thru the volume of bugs and heavy rainstorms. What an adventure!
Thanks a lot Judy :)
I was born and raised in Ontario and your videos make me miss the lakes!! Great video!
this video brought back some of my finest camping memories. This route overlapped some of the stretches I passed through ages ago and it's great to see the wilderness as pristine as I experienced it back then. I'm so looking forward to seeing you traverse this massive park for years to come. Best channel on youtube!
Thanks so much Paul!
The longer you are alone the crazier you get. I love your antics. Great poem too. So funny. This was an epic video. Thanks
Hahah thanks a lot Rita!
Wow, Jon, this was your best one yet!! The cinematography and music really brought the story together. Your B-roll was A-roll quality!! Very well done.
Thank you so much David!!
"So beautifully lost" .... I like that ❤
Wow,thank you Jon for this beautiful mosaic of nature! Moose, eagles, bear, beaver, and a billion mosquitoes!! You are a better man than I am Gunga Din! Love your work, it’s such a respite from the BS on YT! Blessings
Thank you so much Nicholas!
You are turning into a top notch TH-cam channel. I love your channel!!! Congrats John on all you hard work, and thank you for sharing your adventures
Thanks a lot Linda :)
Another adventure of a life time, truly enjoyed every second PaPa Jon…….. cheers
The reflection of the cliffs and 🌲 against the water is stunning.
Absolutely epic! My favorite video of yours yet. Thanks so much for bringing us along. Stay safe and keep up the great work!
Really appreciate that FP!
DUDE! I cannot believe I am just now discovering your content. Absolutely love it. Living the busy city life that I do, its so great to live vicariously through you on your amazing adventures. Cheers buddy! Keep up the fantastic content.
Truly appreciate that Brandon!
Thanks a lot Adam :) I adore paddling through wetlands. Very cool!
Fantastic video Jon. Thanks for posting, as always. Loved the waterfall footage. Going up to the Boundary Waters at the end of Sept. I'll be sure to spill one out "for the purple platypus bag brothers not here..."
Hahaha I'd appreciate that 😆 Thanks so much Schmutzie :)
Thank you so much Jorck!
Thank you so much!
I can't say I recall this "work" you speak of... Hahaha day 7 seems to be a safe bet for that. Thanks so much cm61!
Jon, that was awesome!! Well except for the millions of flying insects! Today is my 57th birthday and I chose to watch your trip! Thank you for the adventure!
Thanks a lot Mike and happy belated bday!
I love how you thank all of the wildlife for playing a part in your adventures.
I thought it was cringe and annoying lol.
Hahah appreciate that so much Canesser! Getting more and more comfortable in the white stuff :)
With all those bugs, you were definitely not on a solo trip. Great video! Thank you! Cheers! 👍
Hahah thanks a lot KC!
So glad to see your starting to get more followers! You deserve it.
Always enjoy your silliness and your love of our incredible land. You do it justice. 🇨🇦
Thanks so much Jan!
Fabulous story and video. Thanks. We need to preserve and protect this resource and surrounding lands.
Thank you! 💚
Dude this is some of your best work for sure, Wabakimi is an incredible place and I’m grateful to only live 3 hours away. Really has me stoked for my 8 day solo in Quetico 6 days from now! Cheers!!
Thanks a lot Chris!
Both you and Xander inspired me to do more of this type of stuff.
Literally getting a driving license so that I can go up to places like this without relying on anyone.
Cheers and love from Toronto
Awesome Greg, love to hear that :) When I lived in Toronto I inherited my grandpa's minivan and bought a 15' prospector. It was life-changing
@@LostLakes beautiful stuff my dude, please make more videos!!
Hands down your best upload to date. Looks like an amazing adventure. 👏
Thanks so much Justin!
I’ve been saving your videos in my watch list for the past few months so I could watch these summer trips when the nights get long and the weather gets bad… that time has come and present me is now thanking past me :D
Loved this! You continue to evolve and do things in new ways. Such spectacular skies!
Thanks again Barb!
Johntario/ papa John, sequence 26:29 to 28:38 is a masterpiece. Music on this video is the best I've ever seen in your channel bro, really working keep it going!!
Thank you for outlining your route on a map like that. Hope you do that for us in future when it's not a super secret spot
Thanks Taylor, definitely trying to make a point of it :)
one of your best documentaries, this place is magical
What a journey! Absolutely amazing episode! Seriously jealous of those sunsets and sunrises (not so much for bugs though 😂) Thanks John👊
Thanks so much Cedrick!
