I don't think we, your viewers, need a reason for your trip (ie "find the go-pro", "catching another weird fish"). We're just glad to be out there - wherever - seeing what you see, vicariously experiencing the paddle thru you. It's a joy. Paddle on! :) 🍁
I've had the pleasure of watching yur channel for over a year now. Always amazing amazing amazing cinematography. I agree with you about the waterfalls. It doesn't need to be the size of Niagra to enjoy the true beauty & simplicity of water rushing over. Beautiful video! Thanx 4 posting
These videos are heartbreakingly beautiful, just a perfect balance of serene nature, narrative storytelling, outright goofiness and fishing. You travel like I travel, except I'd fish more (and likely not get too far). The bag of Scotch is just lovely. I don't want to sound too corny, but I really feel like I'm there with you...actually, in a way, it feels like I'm experiencing it all vicariously. It's just wonderful.
There aren't many people that can enjoy the reward of their own company for so long and not long for other people around. It's indicative of your confidence and your rock solid personal security that you can spend this time with yourself and your sharing it with us is So Special. Thank you!
You camp in style man. I love the cooking aspect of your videos and you're not one to skimp on portions which I totally respect. Thanks again for a great vid.
This reminds me of being a kid. My dad was a bush pilot and we used to fly into the most remote lakes. We never saw anyone. It’s crazy how many cabins you can find though. Your videos always give me a dose of northern roots vibe. Thanks!
One time on the top of chain lakes I was in a stream/waterfall , looked down and deep in the brook I found a pint of Canadian whiskey and a half case of Michalobe beer the box was ruined and the labels were gone but the beer couldn't have been colder good day
Jon - what makes Lost Lakes such an enjoyable channel to watch is simply that whatever happens just happens. For me, it’s the beauty you find in the minutiae along the way. It’s your humble attitude and ever present respect for nature. It’s the excitement you exude when you may or may not make it into a hidden lake you’ve been studying on a map and imagining for months. It’s the way you describe feelings we all have (if social media and cellphones are a disease, this is the cure; or in another video when you talked about how you can’t hardly enjoy a moment of pure serenity without at the same time worrying how we as a species are destroying it). Don’t worry about what you will or won’t find or experience on your journeys. It’s the unknown / unscripted / genuine nature of these videos that keeps me hooked. Unrelated, I just ordered my first hammock and am eagerly awaiting delivery. I’ll be sure to give you a shout out in the review. Also, I ordered some LL merch - the truckers cap. It’s a great cap, but my head looks stupid in it :). If you get a chance, I’d happily re-order it as a regular (i.e., non trucker) style cap.
Damn John, your eye for beauty and the ability to showcase it is phenomenal!!! I love that you seem more confident in this video. You are my favorite channel! You make Canada seem like the most beautiful place on earth. You are truly talented. I absolutely love following your adventures.
Sorry for the delay...vid was uploaded yesterday morning and YT had been processing it since (usually this takes no time). Please let me know if you notice any quality issues in audio or video
I have recently started watching a lot of camping videos from up north to mentally counteract the 106 deg F temps we're having here in Texas at the moment. Your videos are outstanding in every way. The photography is stunningly beautiful; the variety of camera angles (drone, underwater, etc) is delightful; the post-production elements you add in other of your videos, such as split screen, subtitles and captions, make these productions rival the professionals. And the audio! Oh my!--to clearly hear the sounds of nature! I've yet to find another channel that even comes close to yours in this regard. Add to this your killer sense of humor, and your incredible humanity, and all I can say is you've given me many hours of joy. Thank you so very much.
I appreciate your commentary on how being a youtuber changes your experience of the present moment while out there in the bush. I'm glad you're able to recognize that and adjust your attention so you can enjoy yourself more :)
Jon, the footage of both flora and fauna was outstanding! So much “stuff” on that road! I don’t know how you blissfully sleep at night after seeing all those bears! The bee footage was amazing! Great stuff! Thanks again sir. NQU
You are blessed to have nature and wildlife at your fingertips!!! I especially enjoyed your sense of humor and would like to see more of it! Live in the moment….
Please keep on producing these vids showing the scenery of the Northern lakes. I'm a retiree living in Fla since 83 and really miss that landscape/aquascape you illustrate in detail. Keep on Keepin on guy.
37:30 Bro, yes!! the moment is best! man, loved this. was telling a friend about ur quad rainbow. be in the moment, always., yeah man. loved this journey and all the attn. to the little critters, ur a good bro
WOW, hiking into those falls and their lake must have been really special. I loved when you sent the drone up above the falls and you could see the canyon it was flowing through and multiple other pools leading to the falls. You made some good lemonade out of the trip cancellation. :)
9:55 , the sound of those spring peepers takes me back to being a kid in the north. The view of the sunset shortly thereafter...you have a poet's soul sir.
Well doing the French river with my children we found that termite infested wood burns slow. We put it in a can in our canoe. The smoke keep the horse fly’s and mosquitoes away. I believed we learned the trick from the Survivorman. It has something to do with the termites burning that keeps them away.👍👍❤️🇨🇦
I also love a good waterfall. So nice to see you back in that spot. Sucks your trip didn't work out as planned but still great to see you get out and roll with the changes
Wow, Jon, the scenery was just incredible. It's too bad the fishing was so spotty, but the pure gorgeousness of everything else made up for it. Another wonderful relaxing video!
We went north of Timmons Ontario and portaged in 3 or 4 lakes....We had a Herters fiberglass canoe. You could see through it, but it wasn't light! It weighed 120 lbs.. It did have a keel to keep it going straight on lake crossings, plus dad had a 1 1/2 hp. Hiawatha outboard...way better than paddling against the current! Growing up, I think I was on nearly every navigable stream in the lower peninsula of Michigan.... 2 of my favorites were the upper Muskegon from Reedsburg down to Leota, and the Cut river which flows between Higgins lake and Houghton lake. They had no cabins or any camps on them at all except the Muskegon did have the "high banks canoe camps".Those were built back in the 30's by the CCC boys and they saw little use except during archery deer season.
I absolutely love your photography on your solo trips. I say on your solo trips because there are no other distractions, just beautiful scenery! Wonderful footage! This goes for all your video's and I've watched them all! Thank you for all of them!
49:31 bottom left hand side of the screen when you pause looks like a GoPro. Right when you pass that small tree on your left. It’s actually easier to see it if you play that part back a few times.
This was quite an impressive video to watch. What a nice area and the photography was awesome. Thanks for sharing it. You have a way of making such a trip something very memorable to come along with in viewing. Thanks.
Of all the beautiful sounds and scenes on your trips it’s the 12:24 mark that will always hold #1 in my heart. 😹 Thanks for taking us on another beautiful trip! Stay safe out there!
@@LostLakes jon just a suggestion earlier in the vid you expressed your feelings regarding social media and how poisonous it is such as cell phones just wanted to remind you that the poisonous social media is paying for majority of your trips although i get it what you mean! but don’t be ungrateful for what you got, enjoy every moments of your trips brother and keep em coming be well Cheers
@@MrDanixiii I hear you. I love youtube...it offers a lot a value and I consider it more entertainment like Netflix than a social media platform, and it's also highly educational. I really find this style of hammock intriguing. I always found traditional hammocks were hard on my back because I was always sleeping in a “bow” position. Shows are great! Love the scenery and fishing! With a million lakes in Ontario I hope you never stop until you camped the last one! Mike Friske Volo IL.
Thank you John for awesome video that waterfalls so beautiful and the fish is what you catch so nice. So cute the baby bears and baby moose. I see you had great time like always thank you for video and see you on next one take care.
Awesome trip despite the cancellations. Great macro photography on the local flora and fauna. Not sure what that spider was early on. Loads of super waterfalls and the cabin in the woods was an unexpected treat. Have a great summer!
Arizona is in a drought, no fires, and everything is so brown. I am loving the green color and water. I had to find my own water and green this past weekend. It helps me stay mentally healthy!!! As your videos do. One day I will venture that way!!!
You have raised the bar again, so much great footage using the drone which gives such an insight into the area you are in and the time-lapse gives that sense of the changes in the day. Thanks Jon very enjoyable.
Awesome video. tbh feels like being with u and gain all these moments. no rush, no bad timings no real taks just pure livin in the bush. thats great. thank u for making videos.
My kind of trip. Narrow rivers, trout fishing, solo... Peace and quiet. Took me 4 nights to get through the video because I kept getting pulled away, but it kept me coming back to finish it. Thanks!
Supplies a Orvis, Vermont, Casting botters ( water bobbers), sortment of Stone flies, all 3 atages. Small and large helgermites. Youll catch every Brookie in the lake. Cheers.
What a great trip/place. I was hoping you would be able to find the gopro, but it gives you just one more reason to return for another look. Id really enjoy seeing you and Joe take another trip and maybe invite Xander Budnick along. Thanks for sharing another great video with us
I don’t know if you’ve ever watched the tv show “Alone”, but the shot at 10:07 looks straight out of that show. Beautiful camera work as always! Hey sandhill cranes are named from my home state Nebraska!
Some of the best trips are the ones that don't go as planned!!! I have had one or two of those in my time. So much is out of our control. Roll with it!!!
It took courage and a passion for adventure to walk through the forest like you did. Thank you for your videos. I live the adventures through you and can feel your passion for the wilderness. I hope you never change your style of video and pray that you are always kept safe in your adventures.
John I would like to say thank you very much for the dedication that you put into these clips . I love the wilderness. Sometimes for nature people you just don't realize just how big this world really is! Until you have the opportunity to watch a TH-camr show us all the beauty that God has given us to enjoy. I'm grateful for the opportunity to be able to watch you and you are very hilarious when you put these together thank you again.
From my river fishing experience walking from one river to the next. Best practice is to walk into the bush with either a broken down rod OR put the rod tip behind you handle in your hand. Way better less tangles. Great vid my friend ! Tbay
So many great moments in this video. Too many to list. It makes my heart ache a little to see so much natural beauty with moments I have experienced also. I think the early daylight on the lakes really gets me - but like I said there are so many. The black flies?? Well that’s not such a great memory. Lol
Thank you for the adventure, that untouched scenery is humbling and beautiful. There is peace, a understandable respect for it. Looking forward to whatever next, 🙂 😊
Excellent trip Jon !!.. Tons of great content and life lessons, as usual.. The most important, I think, is, go with the flow & have faith “whatever happens happens “, adapt or die, right !.. Also, you said something like “if Technology and social media is the disease, this is the cure” (something like that 😏).. Steak cooked on a hot stone, that’s new, I’ve never seen that before, NICE !.. Anyways, I could go on & on about this trip. Excellent! 👍🍻
You are a great videographer, no need for a theme. You out in the wild with your camera is great. You do a great job taking video, narrating, and educating your audience!!! Thank you for all your hard work!!! Awesome trip!!!
So beautiful!! The lakes, the falls, the wildlife, flowers. Wow. Those pike you caught that you said were small, I thought were huge. I guess you were fishing catch and release and not to eat? Loved seeing the loons and hearing what we call peepers (frogs). I would never have the courage to camp in the wilderness with all the bears, etc., but it sure is beautiful there. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
On a positive note, had you not lost your go pro, you wouldn't have had reason to return that amazing overlook once again. Much better in person than in pictures, I'm sure!
Thank you so much Jon; it was great to BE with you again on your adventure. Yes, fishing was crappy, but Mother Nature rewarded you in many other ways. I wondered about your whereabouts after the storm that hit Ontario, prayed you were not involved. So pleased to see you on line again!
The subscriber count on your channel is really growing. Congratulations. Making a change in a career can be concerning but this seems to be working out for you. Hoping the best for Lost Lakes.
John, here's a tip from an old fly fisherman: when you have to bushwhack a fair distance with a rod, unrig it. It'll go through the puckerbrush so much quicker and easier. The time you save will more than cover re-rigging when you get to the water.
Oh my goodness Jon! 39:25 would be the most beautiful photo that I would gladly hang on any wall in my home. I love your content and appreciate all the work you put into making it. Thank you💜 Also, hi Erin!
Funny how we all seek water on our trips. Im a desert dweller so water is magnificent every time you find it. Arizona has great water if you know where to look at the right time of year!!!
Actually, my mother was a GREAT cook when it came to pastry! her pie crust was like filo dough, light and airy, so when it came to any type fruit pie, I really miss it, and no one can duplicate it. BTW, I grew up in a canoe...Dad, and my sister and I spent a lot of time canoeing nearly every stream in lower Michigan. In the 50's and sixties, the upper Muskegon had very good Northern Pike fishing. We always used Daredevils and Lazy Ike's. Had to make sure you had a steel leader, we didn't have spider wire. When I got out of high school in June '64, we went on a Canadian fishing trip somewhere north-east of Timmons & we had plenty of black flies! But we had an Old-Town wooden canoe with an outboard motor bracket which we used a 1 1/2 hp Hiawatha motor. Dad and my brother Bill also went on a trip to that chain of lakes you made a video on that spans the U.S.-Canadien border. I didn't go on that one, but I have their pictures. I'm 72 now, so I don't go on any trips like that anymore. I enjoy the videos!
What a great video Jon!!! As a viewer, I can really tell the growth you’ve made in the last year or two. The content you give is just so great! Thanks again bud!

To me, canoe camping is the best. Actually any aquatic adventure is great, but being in the wilderness with a canoe is the best.

Thanks Again Jon super camera work enjoyable as always and the sound of spring peepers!!
Thank you so much Jon; it was great to BE with you again on your adventure. Yes, fishing was crappy, but Mother Nature rewarded you in many other ways. I wondered about your whereabouts after the storm that hit Ontario, prayed you were not involved. So pleased to see you on line again!
Really nice trip to bring us along. Beautiful falls, love the drone shots. Enjoyed this video, extremely relaxing.
The subscriber count on your channel is really growing. Congratulations. Making a change in a career can be concerning but this seems to be working out for you. Hoping the best for Lost Lakes.
Friendly tip: when going through wooded areas with longer fishing rods, position butt end of rod first, tip behind you. :)
Being in the moment is the secret to really enjoying the now. If your mind is alway on planning, you never get to enjoy the trip.
Another gorgeous video!!! I can't wait to see you and Erin out together again this summer!
She's finally coming out with me this weekend :D
John, here's a tip from an old fly fisherman: when you have to bushwhack a fair distance with a rod, unrig it. It'll go through the puckerbrush so much quicker and easier. The time you save will more than cover re-rigging when you get to the water.
Oh my goodness Jon! 39:25 would be the most beautiful photo that I would gladly hang on any wall in my home. I love your content and appreciate all the work you put into making it. Thank you💜 Also, hi Erin!
Thanks so much Andrea! That was a really magical evening
Priceless memories eh! The black flies are the price to pay for all these lakes and rivers 🤪 Thanks Philip!
Great video Jon...you camera skills are very good...thanks for bringing us along out into the beautiful nature...take care
What a great video Jon!!! As a viewer, I can really tell the growth you’ve made in the last year or two. The content you give is just so great! Thanks again bud!
Truly appreciate that!
