I definitely feel like a graded starlight exodia set puts crystal revenge pretty high up there value wise. It's iconic, high rarity, and although it isn't the first starlight it is the first starlight set of cards that go together.
Definitely agree - the Exodia starlight looks amazing and is a timeless bunch of cards with a really nice print!

Interesting takes. I also would love a Black Rose starlight. I actually managed to pull a starlight Exodia piece from my first box of BLCR. As for the Dark Magician though... I think it'll be rough. I'm not sure it'll be able to drop that stigma so easily, and I could definitely see Konami reprinting that art elsewhere.

EDIT: just finished the video. Agree with most of these picks. Rn vintage is so underpriced that if your gonna spend the money you mine as well get vintage - but if you do get modern these are the go-to’s
This is a good top 5 list. I have noticed of late seems prices are going back down on a lot of cards. Hopefully can buy in and they go back up!
I think the playable high rarity cards that are available in Edison have the best chance of going up in the short term like Stardust and Black Rose, since those already have a ton of reprints in lower rarities and I don't think anyone is using the first ed ultis or ghosts in their decks or selling them for that matter. Having easily accessible high rarity cards for those staples should give them a lot of value, as long as Edison doesn't see a dip in popularity. Don't know too much about the market but it just feels like there's a lot of fatigue towards the old school DM era cards atm along with overall prices going down.
I'm 100% with you on the exodia starlight or anything that's a reprint from the OG sets. Just speaks to those of us who were in it in the beginning and to put in the top rarity.i think a few years from now when sets are harder to get a hold of it will surely go up but we'll see what the counts look like when all the card grading companies run some copies through and we really will see how many have been pulled compared to older sets.

Agreed on the stardust for the factors you mentioned - its good for edison format, nobody is opening DAMA, its an iconic card for the 5D's era. I'm personally bias though because stardust is one of my favourite cards and having a starlight stardust would be amazing.

Hmm, these are some interesting takes for sure. I can totally agree with TOCH and BACH, and with Crystal Revenge, if you manage to grade a 9 or a 10 on a full starlight Exodia set, it will be a fortune in a couple more years, even if it's "easier" to get than a starlight Apollousa, to say something.
Your top 5 seems very solid! Can’t believe how cheap some of those ghost rares are right now from Ghosts of the Past. Definitely looking to grab some of those

I just rediscovered yugioh after 15 years, so I'm pretty much new to this. But my investments right now are the standard cards, like dark magician, blue eyes & jinzo from the early 2000s. but also the ghosts from the 2nd haunting pack, cause by this booster I‘ve made my comeback
valid picks but i think the ots ultis will gain some value too and they look pretty awsome
i agree with your hype for toon chaos and GFTP2 - back when toon chaos came out i was like "oh these look so good, i should buy boxes since they definitely will go up" but i didn't because you choose carefully where to invest as a student and no i at least know that my instict was on point ^^

I would say that I would agree with you Ruxin. Crystal Revenge has the Exodia cards which are awesome for collectors, Dawn of Majesty and Lightning Overdrive both have classic 5D's cards and the other Starlights are pretty cool, Battle of Chaos has a chance of having some staying power, particularly with Dharc the Dark Charmer, Gloomy, and GFTP2 is one of my favorite Ghost Rare sets, even if I have pulled only 2 Eyes and one DMG. Cool video, my friend, let's see if we are right about these sets being good investments!

My biggest investment was buying most of the old yugioh starter/structure decks when I was a kid and got them on ebay for like 20 bucks; which were just joey and pegasus, also got the yugi and seto decks (ogs) but my pull rates are kinda swap booty and only managed to pull a factory damaged blue eyes ultimate dragon ghost rare, droplet from a random pack and also barrone from a rando pack same day. But I love them since its nice rarity cards. Wanna buy more classic cards though one day.
I definitely agree with ghost from the past 2, I’m actually buying the ghost rares from that set in hopes they go up later on. And I really think starlight rare Exodia will be one of the most collectible sets out there.
I've been trying to focus on completing my ghost rare binder and all the red eyes black dragon prints. Not the best investment ever but they make me so happy :)
YeH you’re pretty bang on with your top 5. I have a soft spot for red eyes and dark magician. I also really like tri horned dragon from Lob.
Solid list Ruxin! Some good takes in here for a fairly new (returning) collector. I got lucky and pulled a ghost rare blue eyes from my first box of Ghosts from the past 2 when returning to yugioh since my childhood and I was absolutely stoked. I'll definitely be holding onto it and I'm curious to see how the prices will change after the set is off of shelves in a few years.
Good list overall. I picked up the Starlight Stardust Dragon a bit over a year ago when it dipped down to about $500. In my mind, for such an iconic and fan favorite card, that was only 1 in ~2880 packs(retail cost $11,520!) I thought it was a steal and that there was no way it wouldn't go up over time. I've definitely been looking at pickup up some of the GFTP2 ghost rares. Only thing not mentioned that I think is a really nice buy right now is the astral starlight leviathan Dragon. I know with there only being 2 starlights in the set it's easier to pull than other starlights, but it's just so cheap ATM for a really unique card and one of the more iconic cards from Zexal.

Agree and love Stardust and Black Rose as they are nostalgic cards but in newer starlight rarity.

Toon chaos as a whole took a bit of a hit from the crystals revenge reprints but I think all the CRs will hold value. Don't know about the original DM art from Bach though

I didn't know that about Dark Magician being randomly inserted into packs. Opening packs from that set must be extra fun with that possibility.

I pulled a ghost rare cyber dragon, however I was eyeing the dark armed dragon. My 1st ghost rare pull actually since I haven't quite spent much on YGO product in the past. It's a good set for the OG cards in ghost rare. I was hoping for Illusion of Chaos pulls in the Battle of Chaos packs.

That’s crazy, because I do have that alt art DM, both BLS and CED 1st CR, Starlight Stardust 1st, and the DM, DMG, BEWD GR. I have a box of like 30 psa 10 slabs full of rare cards.
I think your opinion is pretty valid on this top 5. Dark Magician Girl from Ghosts from the Past 2 and the Dark Magician from Battles of Chaos will definitively go up methinks.
Perfect top 5 in my opinion! Ghost from the past 1 is what got me back into collecting cards again with my girlfriend. It’ll always have a special place in my heart!

Best investment cards will always be those cards with few prints that will be used in upcoming top decks, see toadally, king of the swamp, psi beast...
Absolutely agreed with the starlight Exodia take. Exodia is so iconic and starlights are such a beautiful rarity that it appeals to both new and old players and fans of Yugioh. It just makes sense for it to hold a high value and be above the rest in the set.
I love this type of video. Obviously no one knows what will happen with the cards but you have great reasoning and certainly someone’s advice I listen to. I got ghost DMG right before the set was released and I got super lucky and mine looks completely mint. That was when it was selling for $400+ easily and some were selling $600. I was going to sell it and maybe I should have but I’ve also considered grading it. I haven’t graded a card but from your videos and lots of research on PSAs site, I think it could be a 10. Anyway, I do love this type of video and would definitely welcome more like it haha…. And 1st Ed Magical Hats is one of my all time favorites. I’m not a big fan of super rares but some of the older ones like that and swords of revealing light are some of my all time favorite cards.
Oooh ghosts 1 is a nice giveaway. 5 best modern investments (before watching) I'd say sealed MP22 cases, sealed MAMA displays, Kashtira Ultras, the ulti/Starlight HERO prints (Stratos, DPE, Fusion Destiny), and ulti Raye.
That exedia pull was so cool! i just started playing master duel so I wouldn't go out and buy a bunch of cards cause I am tryig to save money but i still think it would be fun to start trying to pull cards

Some solid picks, i’d also add starlight blackwinged dragon bc high rarity signer dragons tend to always have good value overtime plus dabl might get an unlimited printing so 1st edition can get more expensive

I agree with you on the BACH dark magician. Such an underrated card in really an awesome set. I wish I pulled it. I literally only pulled a starlight from the set and not the DM lol

I really like and trust your advice. What I do not hear a lot about are limited edition cards. A couple days ago. I sent in to be graded are Vampire lord (2), total defense shogun. I have element magician (2). I don't know if there more sought after vs 1st edition.
Every card he recommended came down 50% or more within 1 year.

I love gx series and all of the elemental heroes they were so sick and the fusions were amazing i remember pulling flame wingman and still have it to this day!
Exodia starlight rare is my favorite cuz not only it was in the very beginning of yugioh it’s in my favorite LOB set as well. Starlight stardust dragon is my 2nd favorite cuz ever since 5ds came out stardust dragon has been my favorite synchro dragon. I really like it’s effect. I’d definitely like to pull the starlight stardust dragon from dawn of majesty.
Collecting all the signer dragons has been something I've wanted to do for a while maybe I've got a shot now
Like this top 5 list might have to eventually pick some of these cards up, especially the DMG card from BACH need that card in my collection.

Great picks man, definitely in agreement about the Starlight Rare cards. Seems like ever since they debuted they've only been increasing in popularity. Definitely see Stardust Dragon Collector's Rare going up in value, as that monster always seems to be a hit. 100% Agree with the Exodia set from Crystal Revenge climbing as well, partly because of what you said. EVERYONE knows Exodia, arguably THE most iconic monster in the game. I also see Crystal Revenge 1st Edition as a set overall climbing in value too, between the Crystal Beasts (GX Nostalgia) and Toon reprints. (Secret Rare Toon BLS & Bookmark, great second chance to pull those for those who missed out on Toon Chaos) Great video Ruxin.

Honestly the stardust dragon kinda made me happy in a way just for nostalgia glad to see the price go up for that rarity
Happy I got my exodia head at among the lowest sale, but it’s going to be hard to complete the set. There’s just so many cards I want more than the limbs and I didn’t expect them to be way over $100. Hopefully by the end of next year I will have the whole set, but I don’t know if it spikes.

I agree with the top 5, I don't understand much about investing but these cards look like they'll hold their value even though (luckily for us players :p) all moderj cards drop in price eventually
I agree with most of the part, but I am not too sure about the stardust and black rose starlight. Ghost rare will be always the go to card for those two ones on my opinion, so in the long run they would always be my first choice…

Great video the only thing I don’t like about buying The cards is when you have to buy it on TCG player and it looks like they purposely damage the cards so it can be light play mod play or whatever but those are some really good cards you showed
Ghosts From The Past 2 is for me definitely the best one in this list. So many iconic cards in ghost rare and aren't insanely expensive
I think out of the top 5, the starlight exodia set will move up most in value but probably only for the full set. I can't see that many people looking for just 1 or 2 of these.
