We need to get this artistic genius into the Song Writers Hall of Fame ( I know others that are there who in my mind have only half as much of his genius ) . SO cross genre talented - blues , folk , rock , jazz , folk , bluegrass and could have written a symphony . Let's get him there . The 20 years of songs we missed will be heard on the other side - that will be heaven .
Achingly beautiful. Every girl in the dorm in the 1970’s had this album. They were right. I often play this song and Souvenirs when I need to remember how precious life is.
Achingly, hauntingly beautiful, from his album, Netherlands. Fogelberg's vocal range and power shine here, as well as his virtuoso piano playing. No one before or since, could reach into your heart like Dan Fogelberg, and there is no finer example of the 70's singer/songwriter genre than this guy. Still superb, still mourned, still guts me like a fish. Rest well gifted one.
Exactly how I feel too. No one ever will replace this man's wisdom or talent. Still cry over him, just very grateful I got to see so many shows and meet him. One of his truly awe inspiring songs that will change your day after you listen.
I wasn't introduced to his beautiful music until 1978 when I lived in TN. So many memories and tears, I regret not being able to see him perform like so many of you. Missing you Dan🙏❤
A rare gem. This song was divinely inspired, written at his parents home when he was a teenager, sitting at his moms’ piano one morning watching the sun rise through the window.... This song set the tone for an incredible career in music.
I had a Dan Fogelberg song book for guitar I played To "The Morning" all the time when I was practicing. After a couple of hours my Mom would yell "it's a beautiful song but can you please learn how to play another song"? Guess I drove her a little crazy So much love for Dan Fogelberg He is missed... 💔
You read all the comments on this string and truly feel the impact of this man. Dan's music is somewhat like the Bible of Living & Life, having to read and re-read his lyrics many times over ones lifetime. With each reading you connect deeper and deeper to the man and realize his poetic talent was so deep and meaningful. To have him back if just for a day in our lives asking him questions on his inspirations for the songs, their meanings that came from his mind, imagination and experiences. I am proud to say I was blessed to have had this man's music raise me during my early years of life, knowing every word to every song until life catches up and you kinda just sort of move on to other things. One thing is for certain though, you can always "go back home" and Dan's music definitely brings me back home to my childhood and adolescence, a more innocent age so to speak. I predict if I have music playing on my last days of life on earth that I will be playing this mans music and gift to our world.
This is from Dan Fogelberg’s first LP Home Free. It’s an amazing collection of songs that are relevant as much today as when he first wrote and sang them.
Absolute BEST live performance of this song I have ever heard.......thanks to my best friend Tim for sharing it......I miss you brother Hatfield!! Ever On....
Love this whole album. I saw Dan in Louisville Ky in a small intimate show in a 100o seat room . It was 1977 . Fools Gold was his backing band that night . He played this one .
This song, and this LP, made such an impression while I was in college, Denison University, trying to find myself... feels like yesterday, with both the wonder and the "calmness" of this beautiful composition still fresh every time I hear it.
I can't even picture this beautiful man smoking. SADLY, I NEVER had the joy of seeing him perform live in concert. I lived in TN in 1977-1978 & a very special man DANNY introduced me to this awesome performer. Lovely memories❤ R.I.P. DAN🙏
...so clear and deeply performed that I got the feeling that I was Dan's only audience...perhaps, the background interference creates for me a kind of wall of isolation that paints the 'real' audience into an irrelevance that gets transplanted back into the Mesozoic era. LOL; Thanks Tim Hatfield for another rare cut gem.
¡Cómo se te extraña, por Aquí, en la Tierra! ! ! Tú música seguirá sonando siempre en mi alma, gracias! Querido Dan, tu espíritu está entre nosotros . . . Descansa en paz, Querido Dan . . . ► el Beat.♪
AGREE!!! What a loss, but at least we have what we have. On that note, wouldn't it be great to hear a remix of Twin Sons, NOT fading out the end of Tell Me to My Face? What a guitar solo. Still listen often, still miss his music and what he could have written, always.
Love you forever 😢
Fortunate to see your lovely presence òn stage..never ever forget you and covet your Lp's. Rest in heavenly Peace Dan ❤
This man needs to be inducted into the Hall of Fame….what a beautiful person, singer and songwriter….❤️

don't want to sound like a troll Karen, but actually, To The Morning is from his 1st album Home Free.
Karen Bryant Yes, this was his first single in 1972.

Oh wow.. really?
I was fortunate enough to be at one of Dan's live concerts many years ago, and loved every second of it! He was, and still is a Treasure!!!
One of my all times favs. So softly profound
One of my all-time favorite Dan songs. So wish Dan still had his mornings.
A rare gem. This song was divinely inspired, written at his parents home when he was a teenager, sitting at his moms’ piano one morning watching the sun rise through the window.... This song set the tone for an incredible career in music.
It's incredible how young he was to have penned this.
@@dvrsweet1 miss you
I'm just glad I got to see him at red rocks a couple of times
Well put sir. Such a powerful force in music. Yes, it was going to be a day.....
The most underrated artist of all time... Is welcome home Dan.

Still my favorite because it was the first song I heard from him and realized his genius. There has never been anyone like Danny Fogelberg.
There's only 1 Dan - no other like him, never will be. Always missed - Forever cherished

Oh, how his voice mellowed over time. Sooo beautiful. His lyrics were head & shoulders above most from the beginning.
I was here and I think I shed a few tears. His music moves me like no other...
My favorite song of his.
MASTERPIECE! And it set the mood perfectly for the rest of the album! What a treasure!
I agree ... a masterpiece .... it stays with me all my life .... thank you master Daniel
I was hooked from the first time heard this beauty......

He said he could reach the high notes again after he quit smoking. Lovely version.
