    Sure I have a lot of tools, it has taken me years and many great Craigslist deals to build up my shop. Don't let that be an excuse for you to not get out there and build something, grab some construction-grade Lumber and you can build this loft bed too for about 40 bucks!

    • @islandwills2778
      @islandwills2778 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      i think a lot of what you did in this video others without the same tools will have to find workarounds. For example the dowels, you really need a proper jig or else you might as well forget it. but instead of dowels pocket holes would also work quite well.

    My dad built a bed for me back in the late seventies that was not a loft but a captains style which hinged along the wall (piano hinge) and had ropes suspending the other side with block & tackle. At the head he built a bookcase that went floor to ceiling.
    Something really cool about dads building for their children. His shop wasn't as neat & as organized as yours, but he certainly knew what he was doing and designed it all himself.

    My dad's building me a loft bed
    it cost about $100 dollars but he needed extra wood for stabilization
    we also bought 4 cans of spray paint, a new saw blade, sand paper, and dry wall.

    From your video I finally understand why most people in US screw directly to the wall. I always wondered how does it hold lol, because you have wood inside your walls, we have solid brick walls in UK so when people directly screw to the wall didn't make sense to me. Thanks for the explanation.

      Amazon. I bought one for my son for a couple hundred bucks. The headboard came with a ding and my wife said she wanted it replaced even though it was on the inside and it would never be seen. I called the company and asked them to replace it and they never responded. Filed an Amazon Prime claim and the seller never responded. Amazon gave me a full refund even though it was only a small ding. Then I reached out to the actual manufacturer and they sent me the replacement part for free no questions asked
      I did not get the satisfaction of building in myself of course

    Hi Tyler while my children have all grown up now. I think this is a great idea. Thinking out side of the box to work in a cape stile house. Having lived in a Cape stile house I could see where this would work great. The other idea you could think of instead of putting a sleep away bed underneath how about building some storage under it? just a thought.. I do like your work. I have also seen a number of sites where folks love you chop saw style bench. It is a real hit with fellow workworkers..

    Tyler, love the channel I usually look to your videos to get ideas or make sure I’m doing things correctly. Over the years I’ve purchased a lot of Ridgid power tools. I didn’t want to jump on the dewalt wagon... after some years now I have finish off some battery’s and tools. I’ve done all the above with them, send in copy of receipt (BS) follow through with emails to insure I’m covered....and yet still...can’t get replacements.... now I just recently bought a brushless set (worthless!) still was not happy so I’ve now started buying dewalt tools. I tried Ridgid (cordless power tools) for bout 8 years now was happy at first, now at 38 years old having to start buying all over again (dewalt) I ask myself why did I leave them to start.... Do you have trouble with the tools/battery’s also? Granted I know you’re being sponsored but a honest reply would be appreciated.

    • @DIYTyler
      @DIYTyler  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mike, I used RIDGID tools a long time before they approached me, all bought with my own money. Fortunately I have have never had to bring a tool in or request new batteries. Granted I have not used them quite as long as you but even after 6+ years my oldest batteries and tools are still going strong.
      Even the team at RIDGID admits that their method for registering used to suck but they have been working hard at steadily improving it and as of late it is quite good. They requested a bunch of us Ambassadors test the new site and it was pretty straightforward. I get that it is a pain but understand how many people do try and scam them by taking advantage of they warranty policy.
      Have been to their warehouses where they replace batteries and test tools and it's quite impressive, it is true and you are not being thrown for a loop, they do replace even their old Nicad batteries that you still might have!
      Hope I might have helped a bit!
