I did not. I would’ve used some rubber padding if I had wood floors just to generate some friction and protect. I’d love to see your solution if you decide to do it!
My dad making me a room and I thought about the space is small and I have TH-cam videos to do so a loft is nice I thought but how I do this without the fancy qiuqment
This is great! I have a 10yr & 8yr old that will be distance learning, so I want to loft their beds to put a desk under. The floating loft bed is a great idea since you don't have to plan around the 4 legs on the floor. I'm guessing it might even be more sturdy since it's bolted to the wall instead of free-standing. Out of curiosity, why didn't you do pocket holes for the main bed frame? My understanding is that they can be stronger since they are going at an angle through the grain, and you are hiding the screws.
Great ideas! My original plans were pocket holes for the sides, then I decided to use half lap joints. Decided against that with these bolts I found. I couldn’t speak to comparative strength, but they’re strong enough to hold me without any squeaks. I’m about 170lbs. I use pocket holes in most of my stuff, but I didn’t have any for this thickness of wood. I’d probably go back to the half laps if I were to do it again. If you decide to make one, please share, I love seeing others’ ideas!
Any way you can share a list of supplies (lumber, screws and lag bolts)? My 8-year old saw this and screamed at me to make it. I am gonna try and surpeise her.

Ya my 5 year old seen it and now I’m here building a castle loft bed 😂 It’s really difficult when you realize you need a part and have to wait days for same day pick up then they get the order wrong or give you split wonky wood.
I built 2 loft beds for my 9 yr old son & 11 yr old daughter. Since they are a bit older, I lofted the beds even higher so they can walk under. My son's is completely floating with a chain to the ceiling. There is a rope ladder dangling down, and he won't let me secure it to the floor. He is the only one who can get in and out of his bed. :)
It was a fun and inexpensive project. Maybe, offer to save up some money and cover the cost yourself. Would be a fun thing to work on together with someone helping you.
Looks great I’m starting loft bed for my daughter. I’l be using your video as a reference thanks
Great job - very helpful suggestions
Awesome build!
Great Video! Sophie is one blessed kid to have parents that are able and willing to do this for her. Good job mom and dad!
Thank you my friend, hope you’re well!
Nice dude! Looks great and not to complicated. 👍🏽 well done
Thanks, fun build!
Great project. Maybe I missed it. What did you use for the horizontal slats that support the mattress?
Just common 1x4 boards
Great video thank you! You mentioned possibly using a higher quality wood. Which wood would you recommend?
I’d consider oak or a hardwood. It’s held up very well though.
Молодец, просто,доходчиво и без заморочек.
Спасибо
Did you attach the ladder to the floor? I want to do this but have tile floors and don’t want to drill into them.
I did not. I would’ve used some rubber padding if I had wood floors just to generate some friction and protect. I’d love to see your solution if you decide to do it!
Smart using the bed to hold the corner for weight
How did I bolt it to the wall, great video.
I used lag bolts directly into the studs. It’s proven to be pretty sturdy over the months. Not the slightest movement.

You could do the whole thing with a hand saw, drill, and sanding block.
@@joeleibner9617 OK thx my dad making it for me I am doing TH-cam videos but very small space so this is good and also I got a sander machine

The problem with bunk beds is getting down in the middle of the night when you are only half awake...
Easy to get down…harder to get back up 😉
@@joeleibner9617 especially if you get down faster than you expected ...lol
