Most important tool is the tape measure, laser measure and pencil. Can’t really plan or do anything without measurements. Most of my projects are home additions, screened patios, etc. Then I keep 24oz framing hammer, square, chalk line, 1 big pouch for fasteners/trash if I’m removing fasteners, 1 small pouch for fasteners. A 6” level, razor knife, along with a sharpie and a nail punch. Sometimes keep a small nail remover/pry bar. Used to keep a calculator but now my phone has the construction calculator app I’ve kept everything in the same place on my tool bag since I started 12 years ago.
My offset Midwest aviation snips are out on all the metal days. The ease of cutting and quality of the cut edge is so much better than buddy's set from Wiss that I have no regrets paying $15 more for american made excellence.
Gregg: Give me a sec to tell you (Dude focus), you are missing your true worth. Men may say it’s muscles and comedy.. I’m going to tell you that the One who fitted you together in a beautiful and intricate design, saw a much deeper and important meaning for your life. In fact, He planted the finer talents, the REAL worth below the surface. The best part of you (the part with eternal value) is not muscles or comedy. FIND IT BY FINDING HIM.
Dude, more team interaction content. I love the build parts and learning about your trade, but the parts where you guys are interacting make me smile. I know what you do is a hard job, but your joy and interactions make me consider a career change.
I keep a magnet in with all my spare bits. It helps to keep them all together and you can pull them all out at once and grab the bit you want instead of digging through the little pouch.
I read the entire Ryan’s th-cam.com/users/postUgkxGqOCINHE0Z0E5gxzSdNi9NWGugRY5Hm2 Plans and was able to make a shed plan. Using Ryan’s Shed Plans alone, the shed itself is great. Where I wish I knew more is with respect to ground preparation and foundations. Maybe that's beyond the scope of Ryan’s Shed Plans.
I bet you and Greg have a great time working together and the day just goes right by. So awesome you have had your son working with you for the last seven weeks. I love doing projects with my sons. I bet you three have had an awesome seven weeks working together.
Awesome to see Cody learning the trade. I learned so much from my fathers 50+ years of experience. I didn't realize how valuable the knowledge was until I bought my first house.
I remember working summers with my day building houses. Now I’m in my late 30’s I have a 5 year old comes with me every now and then and he loves it enjoys the time you have. And yes the Lenox gold blades and knife are the best. Thanks for great videos.
Kyle what a handsome young man you have ! Having a son myself & knowing how much I love him I just have to say you are the man! Cole looks like an outside linebacker to me or a strong safety? Now Greg? Kyle remember the ear ring and 1 at couple of months? What an accomplished carpenter he has become and a responsible young man! Why?? Because your Dad spent the time on you I assume ; now you are a great Carpenter/Contractor and running two businesses ??? Two? Yes! Making post beam building and men! Good job Kyle!
I love my Diamondback tool belt with 6 inch belt I didn’t know anything about them here in Tennessee never heard of Diamondback, saw your videos when you started talking about them on your channel. I looked up the price and said no way, until my wife saw me looking at them and secretly bought them for my birthday which is on Christmas Day best thing I have ever received as a gift so thank you Kyle for the recommendations
I'm also a big fan of those Lenox Gold utility knives: rugged, easy change blades, fits the hands great etc. I still also have one of the previous blue series Lenox that preceded the gold.
I used to have the Lenox, but now I use a Tajima LC650. It’s nearly unbreakable and amazing to use. Try swapping your adjustable for knipex adjustable wrench, they are way more useful, pliers and wrench in one and grip way harder.
That’s cool! Don’t run the boy off , take the time. Could mean many years of memories on the job. And keep R&R going for generations. Just don’t take it too easy on him!
We kinda do everything framing, roofing, siding, and windows in the summer and cabinets/drywall in the winter. I carry a Stanley fatmax 25' tape, pencil, inkzall, Vaughn 19oz framing hammer, wiss yellow snips, a milwaukee fastback knife, a milwaukee caulk line, a Stanley 3 piece nailset, a pair of nail puller pliers, a stanley folding pocket chisel, an estwing cats paw, a jhonson speed square and a Malco siding swipe. All this goes in my gatorback tools framers belt. My tools go on my right side and I carry 1.5in roofing nails one pouch, 3 1/8 r4 grk in the next, 8d and 16d in the two center pouches on the left.
I watched the video where Cole went with you and get that hammer. I remember that video. Man, 6 years ago. I think I've only been watching your videos since 2018 though. I think about going out on the job with my dad when I wasn't in school. I begged him long enough to let me go at 9, and I carried lumber for him and kept the scrap material separated, anything 2ft and longer in one pile to be used and anything smaller in the trash. by the time I was 11, I was cutting the black board they put under the siding back then, and I would cut plate material and headers on the Sear and Roebuck radial arm saw set up with a 30 ft 2x12 for a table. man, that was a long time ago. by the time I was 14, I was doing the soffit fascia and lookouts. I really liked going to the jobsite with my dad!
I’m just now watching your videos, your team seems great, it’s nice to work with people you get along with. But getting to pouches,I’ve had a pouch on my hip almost my entire life, from laying carpet for twenty plus years and now doing HVAC for fifteen years so I could pretty much be blind folded and reach down to my pouch and pull out whatever tool I need at the moment, they get to be a part of you,it’s fun to see other guys talking about what’s in the pouch and what y’all are using thanks for sharing 😊
Diamondback bags on a Klein belt. I run a lighter trim setup with the Clavo and Loki pouches. I also have something called a Joey pouch, basically an open bag with a drawstring that I'll clip on when I need to carry a lot of fasteners. A few inexpensive items I can't live without Purdy foldings 10 in 1 tool Kreg multi mark Morakniv chisel and plastic sheath
Kyle, Love watching your videos. Like the Perkins Builder Brothers, where the saying is "Let Jaime Talk" I think yours will start to be "Let Greg Talk" Keep up the great work and videos.
Well I'll be dipped...I can't believe it, but I gotta...I'm looking right at it....Greg Mic'd up. This needs to be done from now on..make it happen Kyle!
@@RRBuildings Chalk it up to a learning experience. Trust me, I have NO CLUE how to do any of what you are doing...but I figure a bunch of NON-TECHIES that are doing this can figure it our you can too...I'm just a schmuck with a BSEE, and I can't figure it out...so I have confidence you can easily figure it out.
If I didn’t already buy a set of Occidental bags thanks to Essential Craftsman, I would have definitely considered a set of those Diamondback bags. I like the concept of the hammer and cats paw holsters
How awesome it must be to have Cole join the team this summer. Make sure when you get back home to show us how you are showing him the ropes. I see a three man twin hammer nail driving competition in the future!
I don't know about the Lenox utility knife, but the blades with the Titanium edge are awesome blades; I've been using them for the last 5 or 6 years now! They are hands down the sharpest blades and keep an edge longer. Awesome blades! I personally like the folding utility knives and for the longest I used Klein, until this year when I saw the Milwaukee utility knife that is able to hold 5 extra blades and folds with good action with a nice belt clip on it made from some heavy duty wire. Very nice set up the way the extra blades tuck in next to the knife, very convenient set up, and I don't have to worry about taking the time to loosen a screw to get to the blades and it's all very compact! You Lenox knife is just another 50 year old utility knife with white paint on it, sorry but Milwaukee has the best one I've seen yet. But Lenox does look flashy with all the bling on it. it's just a painted up old utility knife though :)
I love the Lenox Gold blades. They are a little pricey, but they last, and are seriously sharp. I also like the Pica. Good video. It looks like you guys have great chemistry.
I personally like suspenders attached to my bag belt, with all the stuff I put in my bags they help hold up my belt so I don't have to wear it so tight
Diamondback not having that side by side pouch is the only reason I didn’t buy a whole new belt setup this summer, hope u give a good review so I can get one
Kyle, glad you did this video. I ordered the Ox, and didn't like it. Your prototype addresses what I thought was needed, two smaller bags that you have on your non dominate bag. The Ox dominate side should have been more like the Elias. Thanks again for sharing.
that's the problem I find with the DeWalt tape also, it tends to want to twist after you've had it a few weeks, and it retracts way too fast, causing mechanical problems down the road. Usually I have used FatMax for decades. I recently bought a 25' Milwaukee but I didn't get the beefed up version, which is better.
cool seeing your son follow your footsteps...thats a heavy load yall carry...it will take a toll over the years...I barely ever where one now...maybe a hammer loop on my regular pants belt, tape hanging from my shorts/jeans pocket, square in my back pocket, pencil under my hat over my ear...and maybe a cloth apron for fasteners/nails/chalkline...your back will say thank you one day.
Mate, young Cole's gonna be a monster when he's done with his growth spurt. 😉 Best of luck to yah kid, being able to work with your hands will come in handy even if you choose a tech (softy) job.
Greg really should be wearing a mic all of the time. It is so hard to hear what he is saying when you are having a conversation about whatever task you are working together. Fun video!
Couldn't get my diamondback 2 Sweden it seems. Found one place that sells them but I never got my belt. It's the absolut best toolbelt I've ever seen, haven't been in the trade that long (4 years) but diamondback seems F'in awesome!
I am considering the diamondback grande setup. I am also considering Occidental leather adjust to fit fatlip set up. Do you have any thoughts/pros/cons? It’s just a lot of money and I want to make the best decision. I do the same kind of work: pole barns, shops, shomes, metal roofs, etc.
Man you guys are Hollywood. If you fell in the pond i'd save that tool bag first and let you bob till i got back, the bags and kit are worth more than you and the first truck I bought put together. Back in the day we'd be shatting in tall cotton if we could scrape enough dough together doing side jobs to have a set of Custom Bob's Leather bags made. He made them and fitted them to you while you waited and had beer in the fridge and a barber chair to sit in while he made them or you could buy a set of Occidentals and a California Framer Hammer and those were hand made back then from a rig axe and a Vaughan hammer cut apart and welded together. I remember the first Milwaukee battery drill. it had a motorcycle battery in a metal box with a 6' cord. and took forever to charge it was high tec and worthless at the same time and when the Makita 9.6v Drill came out (which I still have and it still works perfectly) it was like Magic!!!!!!!!!!! It cost $110 for the drill and it was a huge purchase because a Skill was was like $75 or less. Back then the only thing Milwaukee made worth a crap was the Sawsall and Hole Hawg and a Magdrill everything else was Makita or Skill or Craftsman all the way and the only thing that took batteries was the jobsite boom box. There were no GVC nails we made Gasowax nails you mixed parafin wax and gasoline and you put a keg of 16s in a 5 gal bucket with holes in the bottom and you poured the gasowax over the nails and through to another bucket and coated them they worked slicker than owl sh$t and beams etc. were cut with a chainsaw there were no beam saws yet till makita came out with one in the late 70s and the roach coach had beer on ice. You gota love technology though. As always I like the content and tell Greg thanks for carrying you all these years.
what is the most important tool in your bag setup?? what is your current bag go to??
My laptop. But I'm a computer engineer.
Dewault 25’ Tape The one made with global materials. Heavy duty stuff right there
Most important tool is the tape measure, laser measure and pencil. Can’t really plan or do anything without measurements. Most of my projects are home additions, screened patios, etc.
Then I keep 24oz framing hammer, square, chalk line, 1 big pouch for fasteners/trash if I’m removing fasteners, 1 small pouch for fasteners. I’ve kept everything in the same place on my tool bag since I started 12 years ago.
Miller Lite and glazed donuts
My offset Midwest aviation snips are out on all the metal days. The ease of cutting and quality of the cut edge is so much better than buddy's set from Wiss that I have no regrets paying $15 more for american made excellence.
Please put Gregg and your son on more. They’re hilarious. You can truly tell from their personalities that they give you a hard time often 🤣
I second this!! Great vid.
Gregg: Give me a sec to tell you (Dude focus), you are missing your true worth. Men may say it’s muscles and comedy.. That’s awesome man. Lovely wife
I'm glad you introduced Cole. I'm sure he will be following his dad's foot steps!
Great to finally see the crew speak up on the videos. Hope you do a lot more of that.
Greg is the best! Good to see you got to work with your Son!. Thanks for all you guys do.
@TELEGRAM ME-rrbuildings Surprise for me?
I love that your son is actually working with you now. That is so awesome man
I'm also a big fan of those Lenox Gold utility knives: rugged, easy change blades, fits the hands great etc. I still also have one of the previous blue series Lenox that preceded the gold.
so cool that you are getting your son involved! loved working with my dad and my grandpa when i was a kid :)

Haha he will earn it not inherit

Thanks for showing the RR family. Greetings from Belgium.

I use Lenox Gold Blades at work they are the best I have tried.

Lenox Gold blades they are the best! Used them forever, love 'em!
Man this was a great video to start my day off with! Please please mic up Greg more often and Cole with his around!!
Great seeing your son in there wanting to get his hands dirty. Brings back a lot of memories.
14 yrs old same age I started to do construction, good job!
Diamondback bags on a Klein belt. I run a lighter trim setup with the Clavo and Loki pouches. I also have something called a Joey pouch, basically an open bag with a drawstring that I'll clip on when I need to carry a lot of fasteners.

Great show as always. Even if this is not in Cole's long term plans, the things he learns from you will benefit him for his life. Great to meet him.
You have a good kid there, Kyle. Nice to see him interested in your work!
Your son speaks just like you 😆 LOVE IT! Thanks for the video fellas 💪
Nice, Greg does a lot of carrying of the Team!! Honestly you guys work well together and put out some good content out for the DIYers!!
Thank you. We need to keep
Greg thinking that
Carrying of or carrying for the team? We always see him halling shit back and forth.
If I didn’t already buy a set of Occidental bags thanks to Essential Craftsman, I would have definitely considered a set of those Diamondback bags. I like the concept of the hammer and cats paw holsters
Great video Mr RR Buildings.
The Franchise is a natural. The future is bright.
Always great when Greg jumps in!
Been looking up the sxs lately. Will probably go for it. Recently got the bossman for my right hand side and its great.
The Lennox gold blades are without a doubt the best blades I have used
My go to bag setup is old school occidental leathers both sides two Klein bags on the back. Lenox gold blades tajima chalk line. !
I second those Lenox gold blades, they are darn sharp

nice to see greg finally has a lapel mic, he needs one permanently
Beautiful family my brother.God bless you .
14 learning the trade with top tools. Dude is gonna be all set when he’s older.
for a minute i thought u was more than 3 , u raise huge buildings ! does it great!
I am sure this summer had a lot of proud dad moments on the job.
I love the Lenox Gold blades. They are a little pricey, but they last, and are seriously sharp. I also like the Pica. Good video. It looks like you guys have great chemistry.
Greg and Cole are PRIMETIME!
I love the cardboard strip idea you came up with. I tried it and it worked great. I actually cut up a 30 pack box (beer box) and it worked fantastic.
@TEXT ME ON TELEGRAM 👉 RRBUILDING How do I do that?
Cool seeing your son on, thanks for sharing.
Greg needs a microphone all the time. it is great to hear him giving you a hard time for a change. Go Greg!!
I personally like suspenders attached to my bag belt, with all the stuff I put in my bags they help hold up my belt so I don't have to wear it so tight
Love the 10mm or adjustable wrench idea! I’m going to start doing that!!
My personal favorite tool is my 25ft Kobolt tape measure
Diamondback not having that side by side pouch is the only reason I didn’t buy a whole new belt setup this summer, hope u give a good review so I can get one
This was fun. Nicely done boys.
Kyle, glad you did this video. I ordered the Ox, and didn't like it. Your prototype addresses what I thought was needed, two smaller bags that you have on your non dominate bag. The Ox dominate side should have been more like the Elias. Thanks again for sharing.
Great job everyone!
Great to see you breaking in the next generation!!
Great stuff - your and Greg’s banter 👌🏽😂
THAT WAS FUN.
You should try some hultafors tools. Great Swedish brand!
This is the way. More videos like this please.
Now that's a great crew! Good job
Wow your son seems to has grown a lot since the video of making saw horses ( 2018 ) !
I agree
that's the problem I find with the DeWalt tape also, it tends to want to twist after you've had it a few weeks, and it retracts way too fast, causing mechanical problems down the road. Usually I have used FatMax for decades. I recently bought a 25' Milwaukee but I didn't get the beefed up version, which is better.

s/m worker and that’s pretty much all the tools in my edc bags. 🤙
so welcome to Switzerland
The fact you have both Martinez squares is a flex 😂
Pica dry ftw!
Mate, young Cole's gonna be a monster when he's done with his growth spurt. 😉
Best of luck to yah kid, being able to work with your hands will come in handy even if you choose a tech (softy) job.
What a cool dad
Put them on more Greg for president 😝
This was awesome!
I would say that’s my favorite tool is my 16oz stiletto hammer. And I’ve been rocking the leather Occidental’s for a few years now.
@TELEGRAM ME-rrbuildings what did you mean by message you for an offer?
Please do a video about how to use right and left aviation snips
You’ll have to have some rando days where Gregg is also micd up. The outtakes and bloopers would be spectacular.
Good stuff .
Greg really should be wearing a mic all of the time. It is so hard to hear what he is saying when you are having a conversation about whatever task you are working together. Fun video!
Lots of fun.

No “weak sides” only Support Side!!! =)
What kind of bits do you guys use? Looking for a good replacement for both screws and self tapping screws with the hex head
Love the set up. But I was surprised you didn’t have a fat Max tape. For me nothin beasts them. I never get twist and always superior standout.
good team👍👍👍
I liked it! 👍😁
