He use to be skinny seems like someone needs to start cutting back. Y'all guys stay healthy if you want to continue to do what you love for as long as you can..
Amen to that. I've only been into carpentery since grade 9, ive seen like 4 framers crews who used each other for learning and growing. i knew 25% more almost always and im not aged wine, im just glad im GOOD at something that a benefit to many...and its woodworking!!!who-ra! Jesus
One thing I really respect about this kit is it is not outrageously expensive and you aren’t incentivized to prop these tools up more than they are for sponsorships. Not all tradesmen have wild money to buy a full Diamondback rig with all same brand tools and fancy storage. This setup is simple, effective, and fairly budgeted.
That hammer is $200 bucks and the nail puller is also $200 maybe $300 I went to erner brands website and everything is expensive for I don’t know what reason. Not even titanium.
To be honest the badger bags are right in line with diamondback for price. Can't speak on diamondback I haven't worn them but I love my badger side by side bag setup
Dude I love this, your like TH-cam famous you’d think you’d be rolling with top of the line titanium squares and whatnot but your just rocking Home Depot. Really glad it shows us normal folks that you don’t need a lot of the gimmicks. Keep it up the good work dude!
I went to a minimalist kind of tool belt 2 years ago and its so much better. Only keep absolute basic essentials in it permanently and if i need extra items i load them in and remove them when im done that task. Being able to move around without the extra weight is huge. I dont have diamonback bags but i added their cat paw/prybar sheeth to the left side and thats also awesome with the hammer sheath on right side. And i keep one of their DB Sax in the left bags so if i need to carry extra fasteners i always have the bag handy.
Love your content, bro. I'm from Brazil and we are growing with framing here. You are a perfect teacher and I watched almost all your videos. If you want I translate your videos to portuguese. There's not a single person teaching the way you do in Brazil. Thanks for teaching me.
Completely agree with you on the badger bags and being able to wear without suspenders. I switched from occi leather about 2-3 yrs ago and couldn't be happier. Suspenders in cooler weather def takes some of the weight off your hips but like you said they are sefinitely comfey without suspenders. I like the hammer too. I swing a wood handle stiletto
I want a nice bag to keep for a long time but at the same time I want something that can handle 30 pounds of tools like you said because the less I move to go back and forth to get tools the faster I get things done and those few seconds multiple times a day make a huge difference in my day and motivation
I've been rocking the Badger SS Framers belt as well and it's probably the best belt I had in a while!! I love the back support it has built in to it and the pockets are big enough to fit my whole hand in it to grab my fasteners! I love that it has a bunch of Lil pockets everywhere so you can organize your tools as well
On my right bag, I have a fatmax torpedo level, 1 inch chisel with a Stanley chisel sheath, Milwaukee chalk box 6:1 ratio, Milwaukee fastback knife, some pencils and markers and Stanley fatmax 25 ft. swinging stiletto ti-bone. Left side I have a small Estwing cats paw. I believe it doesn’t do as much damage as a large wrecker. Fasteners, Swanson speed square, and a 3 inch swanson square. Lastly some gloves and a key chain of impact bits, for like structural lags and such. I use the dewalt emglo 4 gallon compressor and deezwalt gun, but I’m not always opposed to the battery guns. I have the dewalt and Metabo rear handles.
Love when you do this Matt .... You've always made these vids ... and it's glorious you do! I know you are stressed, I know you have a ton of other things you would rather do that fulfills just you. And this remodeler from MN has been here the whole way. Thanks again for all this EXTRA work you do. Take breaks when you need it. You do a superb job on everything.
As a finish carpenter I carry a lot of tools! 2 squares ( 4/6 ) 16’ tape, punches, awl, nail set, bits, wera screw driver, 10 oz Stiletto, bout 10 pencils, 6” sliding rule, and mallet! Trust me I carry a carpenter box for different set ups! I see a finish guy w/ o a tool belt I tell him “ no you can not barrow my tools” ! Those dudes always make excuses! Great video and if you’re framing what more do u need in your belt? ( a bit box with common used bits👊!).
I like to carry a mini hand blower from husky just connect it to my air hose, to blow off the saw dust that lands on me and to blow my skilsaw and working bag after work
The badger belt is by far the most comfortable set I’ve had. I just wish I had ordered a smaller belt. I find myself pulling them up a lot. The badger suspenders for whatever reason aren’t too comfortable they feel like they ride in the neck. I saw that he added a 4 point suspender option that looks better
They sell a 3.5 in belt that I think I'm leaning towards.. might not give as good of lower back support as the 6" belt but I feel like it will just feel better and stay up better
@@dallasonfire604 that’s what Joel the owner had said when I ordered mine. I made the mistake also of losing 20lbs right when I ordered the belt I should’ve ordered a smaller size too. Should’ve done large instead of extra large
I’m currently enrolled in school for residential construction. Can someone help me with what type of work I should do to get in the job training? Thank you
@@MattBangsWood no because I am a big guy 6'5" and the heated jackets are way too short. I know electricians and some concrete gurs that the do fit and they seem to either love them or absolutely hate them.

@Matt, rocking the fatmax razor knife as well as the same fatmax 25. Chalkbox w/blue is an old plastic Irwin mini up to 50ft. It saved me weight and space in bags. That's why it's in my left bag as well. Nail pouch is dead center of my back where 12's and 6/8's live. I can blindly reach behind w/ left hand to choose nail size. Right bag contains all marking instruments. Using sharpie pro red/black. Rocking both carpenter pencils and fat round. Fat rounds are way more accurate and my go to. Still loving my Vaughn although I prefer the straight handle like you have. My craftsman 24oz finally broke. 😎✌️
Everyone seems to forget that a toolbelt is for the tools you use most often. I see so many people with every possible tool on their belt that they don't need and I just wonder what their back is gonna feel like in a few years.
I just retired my bags after 45 years of building and 32 years as a firefighter. I enjoy watching your videos Matt reminds me of exactly how I ran my jobs!
I have a Milwaukee battery nailer and a paslode battery/gas my only air nailer was a hitatchi for like 2 years and I still use it but I just got 2 of the interchangepro framing nailers and they are just a little touchy which is actually nice when you get used to it and the loading style is way different had to get use to that but if they hold up like the hitatchi/metabo then I’ll use them for the next 5 years at least *edit* I also got the interchangepro positive placement hanger nailer and let me tell you the palm nailer is a thing of the past

Matt is the real deal! All we need now is a Matt Bangs Wood technical institute. We have tons of growth in Cali. Lots of framers need guidance.

There’s no need for a $400 square.. my bags are comfortable and they’re needed, but I don’t need a $400 square to mark rafters.
Reminds me of the OG Matt that 17 year old Jarod was geeking out about 🙌
You’re the reason I made the video. I won’t drop my tools on the ground, but you were my inspiration.

I use a wheeled 5.2 gallon MAKITA for framing and Rolair JC10 for trim. Quiet and powerful. You can talk over them easily.

I’d be lying if I said I could keep one on me, I’ve bought many and lost even more.
I’ve work at intel doing clean room construction. I miss wearing my bags
Right handed, tape on the left in a big pocket only way i can work also sq ,left bag knife pencil and caulk line
Big fan from Northeast Washington... XPLRNW Love your content homeslice! Keep grinding on that framing life!
I do trim and i do the same. Only keep what i need in my bags. Screw all that extra weight

I have the 36v makita saw provided in my work van. Want to buy one for myself. Is it worth bumping up to the 40v with a much higher price tag?
Did you have the tajima blue chalk box try the red it has a thicker line 👌
9:00 bro put that Lion's Paw in the left bag's inner hip slot.

Lucky you don't have much cold weather to work in. That is when suspenders are better for those that have Carhartt bibs and coats.
I enjoyed suspenders in Idaho when I was in a few layers.

Hey random question, then, watching your videos for a long time, and just noticed on this video that fox isn’t there anymore. What happened to him?
Still talk to him, but he got a spot with a big company. We slowed down when I tore my stomach this year, he went with them. 😊

You forgot to tell folks why framers put their bags on over their shirts.
Is that not a normal thing? I don't want that combat material rubbing against my back.
