    This is a fun build. I had a very similar ‘71 Monte Carlo as a teenager. Same green color and army green interior. Lol. It had a bench seat in it and we had a lot of fun in that car! It was an awesome date car with the bench seat. It was just a 350 / 2 barrel carb but it had pretty good torque at low / mid rpm’s. Lots of fun memories with that car! Would love to have another one some day.

    The engine was not "set back." It was exactly where it was in every Chevelle/Malibu/Whatever. It was there because not moving it was the cheapest solution. It had nothing to do with Chevy/GM wanting better handling. Monte Carlo's are Chevelles with a big front end to lengthen the hood. The fan shroud is that long to compensate for the space from the stock Chevelle engine location to the distant radiator.

    I could use that 6.0 in a few of my vehicles.
    If only I can find a 70's model at an affordable price..oh well. At least i did find a 1982 Monte Carlo T-top roller with a straight, rust free body for only $700.00.

    Damn, that's a lot of work to fit a dual row timing chain set when there's absolutely nothing wrong with a good quality (factory) single row out to power levels way beyond what this thing makes.

    Such a shame not to put Big Block in a Monte Carlo….all that engine room. Also a sin to permanently remove vinyl top

  • @Wilson_Racing

    You can make over 1,000whp on a single row timing chain. A double row is proven unnecessary at 1,000hp or less. They can handle spring pressures that support 8k rpms or more

    • @billballin6948
      @billballin6948 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Double row vs single row has to do with valve spring pressure. Has nothing to do with what power the vehicle is making.

    • @Wilson_Racing
      @Wilson_Racing ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@billballin6948 its proven unnecessary even past 1,000hp. Look it up. Only the cars running 6s even think about running a double row timing chain

    • @billballin6948
      @billballin6948 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Wilson_Racing I can tell you have no clue about what you’re talking about. The power is irrelevant. It’s the valve springs that dictate whether or not a double row is used. Heavy valve springs, double row. Light valve springs, single row.

    • @Wilson_Racing
      @Wilson_Racing ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@billballin6948 I know exactly what Im talking about. You cant explain why the high power level, 9k rpm revving LS engines still use a single row timing chain? The single row chain is way more than adequate enough for the highest spring pressures on 90% of builds

    • @billballin6948
      @billballin6948 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Wilson_Racing you aren’t naming a number of what that spring pressure is, which tells me you know nothing. Also, a few passes down the drag strip are much different than a few laps around a road course. There probably is some bs micro record for a stock timing chain pass, but nobody gives af about that. Doesn’t matter what engine, valve spring pressure dictates double vs single row. Horsepower number is irrelevant.

    What’s he talking about pump regular fuel. They don’t make regular fuel anymore. It’s all got unleaded. Then they started adding the alcohol to. It was totally ruining this shit.

    • @OriginalMomo
      @OriginalMomo ปีที่แล้ว

      “Regular fuel” is 87 octane. That’s just what they call this garbage they force us to use.

      When they say regular fuel they are referring to pump gas not race fuel

    There are guys build8ing more than 1,200HP from FOUR CYLINDERS, Ford makes a mustang making 760HP, Dodge makes certain v8's making 707HP, but we are supposed to go "ooooooh, aaaaaaaah over a weaselly 500HP??

      Its obviously not maxed out for power. Its a giveaway contest to win the car. So they make it more streetable and reliable rather than maxed out
