Just bought a nos Millionaire ii 6000m off eBay. All my reels I use I picked by watching you work on reels and if you mentioned that you like the reel or it was good I got one lol. So far I've got all Daiwa's (4) sealine 47H's , (1) 50H , (1) 27H & now the Millionaire ii . Appreciate you sir
I know there is a Millionaire series of Daiwa spinning reels but I don’t have any. I enjoy seeing how these conventional reels operate but I rarely get to work on one. Great video Dennis! - Chris
Hi Dennis, I have just recently been gifted one of these complete with box and schematic, it was bought from Tony Allen Fishing Tackle in Norwich England in 1985. What's different about this is its a modified casting model has no level wind, this was an option back then as this class of reel was used by distance casters over here and the level wind was seen as a hinderance so Daiwa produced a model without it and a special frame was used with no top bar and the worm removed and the bar has become a solid part of the casting. The problem I have is I can't remove the left hand side plate to access the clicker and bearing. with the three side plate screws removed the plate won't lift off and it seems to be attached to the frame where the worm gear bar would be as it pivots around on this point and refuses to lift off and I don't want to force it for fear of warping it. (The schematic only shows the level wind version) If you have seen this or have any thoughts on it your comments would be greatly appreciated. Peter Scotland
Thank you for asking Peter. I have not seen this version and I do not think that it sold here in the US. I am sorry, but I don't want to guess the issue and risk you damaging it. At worst, you can usually remove the bearing with the side plate attached. I assume that the schematic in the box is the one you are referring to as the level wind version - Dennis
@@2ndChanceTackle hey Dennis can you put the Spool from a Right Hand Baitcasting Reel in a Lefty if it’s the exact same Reel. I have a Quantum Code I can’t find a kick lever for but there is a Lefty Frame in great condition on eBay missing the Spool.
Dennis, thanks for sharing your knowledge of servicing reels. I've serviced over 15 Abu's and now have the confidence to do it right. My next one is a Daiwa 300 millionaire classic. Any advice or videos in your library?
You can do it! The reel is very similar to the Abu Ambassadeurs that you are working on. As always, go slow, take pictures and bring along a bag of patience - Best wishes - Dennis
Amazing Dennis... you're servicing all the reels I own. My Millionaire (6RM) looks and works perfectly, other than no drag at all. I opened it up years ago and tried to fix it... but had no idea what I was doing... (hence it is not fixed). Do you see 'no drag' problems often? And do you know if spare parts are still available? Many thanks again. Regards
No drag issues are usually when the washers have broken or disintegrated. All drag or no drag issues usually occur when the washers bond to the metals. If you measure the size of the drag washers, you can usually get replacements ordered by size through companies like Smoothdrag.com - Thanks for asking
Good video 👍 however through experience I've found that these 80s Daiwa model reels (all model #s) are quite stiff when casting. I never complete a rebuild without replacing the bushings with ball bearings and then load the spool "shooter style". My favorite millionaire in the 80s was the 4HM and I have one NIB and still had to replace the bushings with ball bearings. The 70s models (like the 3R) are definitely better and smoother even with brass bushings.
@@2ndChanceTackle I can relate 🤣 as a matter of fact just this past week I released a video of a 3R rebuild that had actually been previously been well taken care of and it came from ebay..wow!

I generally use Penn Precision reel greases and oils on all reels. I am happy with the performance of their products, regardless of which reel I am servicing - Thanks for asking - Dennis
I do not have that reel in my shop. If you send pictures of the side plate and assembly I will try to help you. Send the pictures to my email 2ndchancetackle@gmail.com Dennis

Once again Dennis makes it look easy. And sure enough, there goes another reel that I need to own.
Thanks Tim - Best wishes - Dennis

Nice looking gears in the Millionaire! I can see why you like them Dennis!
You got that right!
That’s the first one I’ve ever seen. I like it. 👍
These are nice reels. There are a lot of things to like about the reel - Dennis
Love the round bait casters....very clean...
Yes they are and this one is nicely made - Dennis
They have always been a great reel and you can see why.
Yes they are
Great Video my Friend I’ve heard these Millionaires are good reels but I’ve never tried one.
They are good reels. I personally use one as my go to inshore surf reel.

Hey Dennis, great video. Those reels are very reliable and tuff..
Yes they are!
Beautiful simple design
Yes it is. Thanks Barney - Dennis

Boy that was a clean reel
It's nice when the reels are cared for. Makes service easy and the reels will last and last - Dennis

It seems to vary. I have a Millionaire that can cast a mile with no evidence of binding or being still. Others can hardly move. Go figure! Thanks

Where can I find schematics for the clicker side. There are 2 springs for the clicker one has popped off. Any help would be great!!!

What is your favorite oil and grease for Daiwa and Abu Garcia round reels?
I generally use Penn Precision reel greases and oils on all reels. I am happy with the performance of their products, regardless of which reel I am servicing - Thanks for asking - Dennis
How do the red centrifugal breaks work?
When they are pulled out they contact the inner race and cause the spool to slow
I desperately need to fix the clicker on this reel. Sure wish you had opened the left side. 😢
No IAR bearing in the side plate?
No. Old style A/R dog
I saw that, I thought it might have both. My Browning syntec is similar.
Still desperately seeking help on the left side plate - mainly the clicker assembly.
I do not have that reel in my shop. If you send pictures of the side plate and assembly I will try to help you. Send the pictures to my email 2ndchancetackle@gmail.com
