Are you sure small bday parties?? So many years of my soundsystem, the qsc is clear voice and debut bday etc are included, not small bday parties, and other people is amaze because the qsc cp8 lol
QSC’s have a fuller sound however the EV ZXA is a really old model which is older technology. If you comparing the QSC to a speaker more current would be more ideal for a head to head comparison. Overall nice demo!
QSC's top competitors such as EV and Yamaha both offer lower price performance models so this is obviously QSC's offering in the lower price range. I do like the fact that they made this model range smaller than the K series. I can also see this CP series competing against lower price range offerings from Alto, Harbinger and others. So often we see DJ's and and bands start off with these and then move up to the likes of QSC. Now they can move up and stay with the same brand name.
Yeah, dance mode seemed to do something to the eq, maybe boosting some low frequencies but it also seemed to do something strange to the highs, rolled them off or made them sound more mettalic. I definitely preferred the CP8's in default mode. Thanks again for all your efforts making this demo available to us.

Thanks for the review. May I ask about the base noise? I have checked a ZXA1 recently and that was way too noisy for me (just switched on w/o music). Is the CP8 the same?
I have not noticed any noise with the base on either speakers. I will have to check this out the next time i use them. I will let you know once I get to try it when I use it in 3 weeks.

(FYI: I had an FBT J8A earlier, and compared to the ZXA1 I could even sleep right next to it - switched on, no music playing -, which I clearly cannot tell about that particular ZXA1. Since I use these sometimes at small groups facilitating dance and movement therapy sessions, few times in total silence between two "processes" with music, the low base noise is a must for me.)
Sorry I missed this comment but can tell you after more than 2 years I still am using them and still love them. If you invested in a pair I’m sure you will be happy you did.

The QSC sounds Amazing! I have 4 k12.2s.. you’re making want them CP8s. Possible use for a monitor or use as a small bday parties.
They are a great investment for small events and are very light. I believe these are a must have for every mobile dj.

I will be using both the cp8 & the EV this weekend for a small wedding. The EV inside and the CP outside.

I think the EVs sound just as good if not, better if compared to the Dance Mode
