    I've never been into the new trend of digital screens on speakers. It's something else to go bad over the years.

    • @JoAnnHudson333
      @JoAnnHudson333 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Exactly! I bought the CP12s. Not a fan of digital screens at all. If the venue has different amounts of humans in there at different times, it requires you to change the settings. I have also experienced that if they change their table and chair arrangements in venues, it can also require setting changes. And, correct, one more thing to go cafooey. Simple is better. My CP12s rock a very large dance venue, no problems at all. Love them!

      Hey can i ask a question. I have them but havent. Really uesd since im now breaking in to gigs. What will you say. The most people you dj with. And. Will the. K181. Overshadow. The cp12

    • @JoAnnHudson333

      @@donaldccannon1 I am sure there will be differing opinions; but I have the CP12s and DJ at some rather large rooms and they are only set at half volume. I have also used them with my band in large banquet rooms and the sound is very warm and I have had a great experience with them every time. If you are planning to gig at venues that require EXTREMELY loud and thumping dance music, you could add the subwoofers, but I have not needed to do that and I have used my CP12s at at least 20 gigs so far with no problems. I have increased the volume (per request by patrons) by simply raising the volume from my mixer. Sure, the K series has more watts and the touchscreen, so, in a way, they would "overshadow" the CP12s in the broader sense. BUT, they are quite a bit larger and heavier. This may not be a problem for you, but I am a female and I have to lift my own gear ... the CP12s are much more practical for me.

    Ive been comparing the cp12 to the k12.2 for the past week (EVERYDAY!) and my final conclusion is that the k12.2s have a bit more bass (but if your using a sub which you should anyways youll have the perfect sound for the cp12s) and other than that the MAIN difference are the DSP features on the k12.2s, if your looking for just sound..cp12s are great enough & highly recommend especially for the size. I do 100-150 people events weeky and i use one 12” sub.

    Saying 2000 Watts was just to create an illusion that they are not the same power that’s peak power they both are respectfully a 1000 watts ...you may have a better sound in the . 2 series but cp 12 amazed me and a guitar center guy who hadn’t heard it yet he thought it was the k12.2 because he wasn’t paying attention to the speakers he was just listening as another gc guy was showing them so I bought one traded in two alto 15s for it I’m going all qsc I’m using it for small stuff and it bangs 1 is perfect for wedding ceremonies and some karaoke shows I run ....I have a kw 181...kw 152s and k12.2s... my favorite is the 152s in deep mode

    Just returned from guitar center. Went there to buy the 12.2 but came home with a pair of cp12s after testing out the speakers. Cps has better lows in which the 12.2 was lacking. Even the Guys at guitar center thought the cps sounded better and more full.
    $1600 vs $1000 for a pair and in my opinion better sound. Ez choice for me.

    I thought you had to increase decibels 10-fold for an audio source to sound twice as loud... isn't the extra power basically there for clarity and headroom? IDK. I don't know a ton about this stuff.

    • @gregedwards69

      Fredric Hallas 3db increase is twice as loud. 10 fold Watts is twice as loud.

    • @craigallen7980
      @craigallen7980 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@gregedwards69 10dB is perceived by the listener as twice as loud. 3dB is what is added if you send a channel on a console to 2 outputs; but no one hears that as twice as loud (rather, just as a bump). Fredric is right regarding speaker output. In this case, doubling the wattage is creating 6dB more volume. Notable, but not double.

    • @gregedwards69
      @gregedwards69 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Craig Allen I stand corrected. Just re-read my information and realised that 3db is double the power, not volume. There’s a lot of misleading information out there. I feel a fool for adding to the misinformation.

    I own three original K speakers (2 K12s and a K10). In your opinion is the CP series pretty close to the original Ks? I kind of feel as though QSC didn't want to fully stop production on the original K series and decided to reinvent them a bit as the CP line.

    Traded in EV zlx-12BT’s for a pair of Cp12’s, zero regrets . These are like two little tanks , impeccable sound, clean highs and warm mids with nice punchy bass. EV ZLX’s would get extremely hot 🥵 on the amp plate, not good. I can relax now at my gigs knowing my CP-12’s will do the job with great sound and won’t heat up after just 10 minutes of normal play.

      i made the mistake of getting the kw15.3. they are so much richer that i cant go back to the k12.2 for the mains. you almost need 4 k12.2 to match them. i will probably go for the cp12 for the additional monitors i need for bands. i wish these came out a year ago. I already have 4 out of the 5 k12.2s i needed.

    Hi! Newbie here in audio set up. I recently bought a pair of QSC CP12. I don't have a mixing console yet and I tried to use both speakers connecting through input C using my cell phone to play some songs. I used my 2nd unit cp12 as
    extension speaker. The manual says from MIX OUT (Post gain) of one speaker (serving as the main) connecting to input A of another speaker (extension), the gain level of which should be set to 0 db. And when the gains on the extension speaker are set on zero, the extension's output level is the same as the master's output level. Control both master and extension output using the master's Gain controls. I did this but there is no sound coming out from the extension speaker. I need to adjust the gain of the extension speaker for the sound to come out. And the thing is I have to set the gain of the extension speaker to 12 o clock while in the master/main speaker is set to 8 o clock only and it produces a bit of equal sound strength. Obviously, I have to set the gain of the extension speaker higher to match the main speaker contrary to what the manual says. Any thoughts on this? TIA.

    • @kryptoniterazor
      @kryptoniterazor 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm sure you've figured this out by now, but 0dB is at 12 o'clock on the gain dial. This is typically known as "unity gain" which, for line level signals, is neither boosting nor cutting the level of the signal. Quieter volumes would be expressed in negative numbers, e.g. -6dB, -12db and so on. If you can control the volume of both sets of speakers with the one gain knob (on the first speaker, where the mic is connected) then using the second one at 12 o'clock is the correct type.

Not looking for extremely loud speakers to the point where you can’t have a conversation but am looking for quality. I was sure I was going with the K12’s then I saw the K12.2’s and now noticed the CP8’s 10’s etc. any opinions? Will 8’s work or too low? Will 12’s be fine? And what should I go with, Compact versions or K’s?

    • @justinquinn7995
      @justinquinn7995 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Will you be using subs? If you're not using subs I would recomend 12's for the added bass response. 12's can produce a decent amout of low end while also having a tight midrange. I haven't heard the cp12s yet but im sure theyre still good. I personally would install passive systems in an install but active speakers will work I suppose. Either CP12s or K12s should be nice sounding for you with a little bit of EQ.

    • @bennettshapiro7711
      @bennettshapiro7711 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The wattage of the speaker wouldn’t necessarily have a correlation to the clarity. It doesn’t even necessarily have a correlation to the volume of the speaker. What determines the clarity of the speaker is the size and nature of the high-end driver, and the amount of power that the high-end driver is receiving As well as its efficiency factor, versus those same factors vis-a-vis the low-end driver. The design of the horn enclosure for the high-end driver also affects clarity. And, clarity can mean different things - Are you talking about high-end intelligibility at distance? Or are you talking about high-end intelligibility at the periphery of the speaker’s throw? Different horns do different things well. Your question doesn’t have a single faceted response.

    1db is hardly noticeable..
    It takes 10 DB for something to be twice as loud..
    Now the electronic comparison.
    Basically it takes twice as many watts just to reach 3db more output..
    That's why is usually not a big difference as you up the wattage.. 3db is noticeable but not a lot.
