    If you live or hunt on flat terrain, you can do a lot with just a regular mountain bike. But for hilly terrain, seems like the electric bike would really shine. The best place for a lights is on your helmet. When you go over small hills on asphalt, an automobile driver can see you much more quickly the higher your lights are. Having two sets of lights, one on your helmet and one on your bike can make for safer travel on public roads. A lot of cyclist here also use flashing beacons to be seen because they are so much more visible and use less battery.

    My brother&wife have electric bikes and they do 50 miles on them, my sister uses hers for pootling around town. I’ve still got a manual MTB but I’ll definitely be getting an electric one when I get older. Great for camping too, drive out to a trail and whizz around. They do a full suspension version with fat tyres which might be more suitable for your land, not bad on price either.

    Ebikes are super useful and fun. Ive evolved into a dual wheel drive fat tire bike(heavy loads)... I will never fish/hunt or travel offroad again with out it :) When people say it reduces exercise- It dramatically increases your range, if you assist it. And the first time you break down- OH youll get exercise! lol The primary reason I now use 2 independent front/rear systems.

      I was honestly skeptical for a long time. I had seen them on TH-cam, but erik kept insisting he wanted one for hunting, and when he's worked a long day and he's tired, hiking far out back isn't very appealing. This really throws the animals off you too, the turkeys could care less, they walk right past me and ignore me flying by them. It's a bit sketchy going across fields (don't want to hit the wrong bump) but it's soooo much better than running back and forth on foot!

    3:04 I’ve never seen a “cable operated disc brake”, what’s he on about? Disc brakes are all hydraulic. Unless he’s thinking of road bikes, but nobody has used rim pads on a MTB for 10 years. I’m not sure I’d worry too much about a chain breaking either, nobody is pedalling hard up hills on these things, that’s for teenagers

    Mixed feelings on these. First, they're cool, very cool, but - and your neighbor mentioned this right off the bat - they kind of defeat the purpose of bikes. To me, the whole point of a mountain/off road type of bike is for the exercise. They are very cool, though.

    Ebikes will take away what's left that's good about hunting: getting out in the woods under your own steam and hiking around, actually studying where the deer are and putting yourself in the best position to get one. I see ebikes as another example of pure laziness.

    So now you are marking money doing Commercials for products? Boring!

    • @This1LifeWeLive
      @This1LifeWeLive  ปีที่แล้ว

      TH-cam hasn't been paying like they used to. at the moment I put about 12-15 hours into editing a video (not including shooting it), but am lucky if I make $30 on that video. That's about $2/hr pay, hardly worth doing when there are so many other things needing to be done.
      However, I feel continuing to do videos adds valuable feedback and advice I wouldn't normally receive with farming (since we ARE a first gen farm and have no one to get advice or help from). And I would like to document the growth of the christmas tree farm from the beginning since we were unable to do that when we started this farm 10 years ago and didn't have internet.
      While I don't receive money for any product I show, I only accept products that I would normally be interested in buying, and therefore it saves me from spending that money. There have only been a handful of products I accepted and ended up not liking. One was a game camera years ago. Everything else has been amazing, including the Truewerk clothing and Brunt workboots.
      Additionally, we have found that we buy MORE products from what we see on TH-cam than any other place. Watching what others say about certain items or certain brands affects what we decide to buy. That's how we ended up buying a 10 wheel hayrake with a kicker wheel. It wasn't because the guys at new holland told us about it, it was from watching TH-cam Videos and listening to what others had to say about it.
      So yes, while product demo videos are not everyone's favorite thing to watch, not everyone likes watching repair videos either, and I also do those as well ;)
