  • UNPREDICTABLE Atlantic Storms, Life-Changing Isle of Tiree, Escape the Rat in Hebrides, Scotland.
    Four Seasons in One Day - Snow, Blue sky, Rain, 40ft waves. All in one day on Tiree, the tiny remote Scottish island part of Scoltland's Inner Hebrides. Slow living was never so fast changing.

    Moving to a tiny and remote Scottish island - a dot in the Atlantic Ocean 3 hours off the west coast of Scotland - made us look at the world through new eyes. We learnt that we didn’t need all that much to be happy. So, we set out to make the most of what we have on our new Inner Hebrides island home.
    Tiree is a tiny island, part of Scotlands Inner Hebrides. It's the most westerly island of the Inner Hebrides. Nothing between our new island home and the east coast of America - except the Atlantic Ocean
    We'll show you how we made the life-changing move, how we actively designed our new life, bought a plot of land, designed a new house, started a new business, saved orphaned lambs and now have a new flock as well a much more.
    Here's to doing good, feeling good and moving towards something amazing on the Isle of Tiree - One step at a time.

    Randomly got recommended this video by TH-cam, and by god Im glad I clicked on it. The way of life, on a Scottish island is so appealing. It is a simpler life with an easy way to disconnect from the chaotic world we live in. Totally going to buy a woolie hat for this winter coming, although I feel a hat is a requirement year round on that island. lol

    I have sought out and lived in wide open lonely places. One thing I learned, before the internet was invented, was that one has to be able to spend quality time, enjoyable time alone. And I don't mean with a Walkman on listening to a single cassette tape over and over, but that used to help. I mean alone like a hermit, no internet, no phone no one to talk to.
    Weeks would go by like that and it was educational, but I'm not sure it's even possible to find now. Too many connections to the rest of the world.🥰

      Hi blackbird, it's still possible no problem at all ...in Australia! Three hours north of my city you have about a million square kilometres where there's only sand dunes, spinifex, mulga trees, emus and a few cattle can be seen. More camels show up here than anything else! (Escapees from Afghan cameleers that predated the transcontental trainlines) Most people just drive through due north or south stopping only for petrol every three or four hundred kilometres. Neither looking left or right. Robyn Davidson wrote about this country, it hasn't changed its character much in forty years.

    We were wondering, the sheep live in a field of grass, but they wait for you to feed them grass. What's in the bag of grass you feed them?

      Although the sheep live in the grass field we also give them hay (Dried Grass) in the winter. The hay is to ensure they have all the energy they need to stay healthy and happy.

    I've seen more trees in a multi storey carpark. I wonder what native trees were once there?

    • @SimpleLifeScotland
      @SimpleLifeScotland  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree. I'm told that Tiree was once covered with trees but many many many years ago when 1000's of people lived here(Due to kelp farming) the trees were all cut down to fuel fires etc. I will dig out more information to make sure my memory is serving me correctly :-) I could be completely wrong. But, I do remember having a conversation with someone about it when we first moved here. But, I never checked to see if it was correct.

      We have all of the usual utilities on the Island and the internet seems to be faster than the mainland. We also have the most amazing health services I've ever experienced. From my experiences I've always been able to see a doctor on the island on the same day as I call them sometimes within the hour. I've also had a minor operation on my leg on the island the day I spoke with the doctor.

      @@SimpleLifeScotland Hi there. Its regarding the island limits on campervans and that they must prebook campsites. All campervan arrivals are now at some sort of Nazi checkpoint where their accomadation booking will be checked or numberplate sent to the island police to hunt down and find.

      @@cemeteryguestrob9745 Hi Rob as far as we are aware there are no limits on freedom of movement (Outside of Covid 19 restrictions - that's totally different) and if any website, article or platform says any different they should expressly list any law or bylaw enforcing the restrictions (Outside of Covid 19 restrictions - that's totally different). I don't think they can legally but I'm no expert my understanding is - but as I say I'm no expert: "As long as a person has the "permission of the landowner" you can park-up". Just like anywhere on mainland Scotland - but correct me if I'm wrong. You're more than welcome to park on our land and you'll find there are many more people who feel the same. As far as we are aware in Scotland there is still freedom of movement and free choice (Outside of Covid 19 restrictions - that's totally different). I'm told, some ferry companies may ask for the information but I've also been told there is no obligation to submit the information. As long as you are not breaking a law or committing an offence I would assume as people in a democratic Scotland you're free to make your own choices. But if I'm mistaken I'm happy to be corrected.
