His vocal range has always amazed me. He can take a one syllable word, change it into five syllables while hitting three different octaves and make you cry at the same time. George was the BEST!
I don't know what is passing for country now days but damn I'm glad I lived to hear country singers like George Jones, Johnny Cash, and Waylon Jennings
I seen george at the grand ole opry twice and omg I still get chills just thinking about it and met david allen coe a dozen times at least till the 2 best!!!
@@joshuaclark392I wish I could have gotten to see George live I’m 30 and found George music and all those legends bye my self and this is true country music
I am proud to say I was there that day in 1985. We lived in Champaign-Urbana, IL. My husband & I in that crowd somewhere stepping over ppl. lol. Just having a good time...memories!
Aside from being the absolute King of Country music....George seemed like a great guy.....when the roadie brings him a fresh guitar after breaking a string....George seems so gracious to the roadie....what a good ol' boy for sure
I like to watch Ron Gaddis on the stage as much as George. They perform so well together. And look how they are all dressed. The epitome of class and grace.
The matching outfits are cool, but man it was 1985 and they were still wearing bell bottom jumpsuits lol. George could’ve sprung for something more up to date haha
Coe's version is the tops for me, the original layed the blueprint and he sounds like he is at the bottom of that bottle. It's just a good song though, George's version is considered the gold standard.
@@sonnyonny4900 I love George so much, and knowing DAC and he were friends makes it special, I guess just knowing George’s history with drinking helps me love it more. Love both versions.
@@AdrianTomlin-tx3so Yes it bothers me, I was talking to a lady she was 51, and thought C Stapleton was the original Tennessee Whiskey. I couldn’t believe it, I just said well you don’t know country. She still didn’t get it.
i love seeing all the stars back stage watching/ admiring George sing. look at Roger millers face at the beginning, just tickled with joy.. George Jones truly is a singer's singer!
The first time I heard this song it was sung, in this original version, by Stanley Walker in Paducah, KY. That was back in the 1980s. Of course, I looked up the original version. Being an Illinoisan, this one is pretty special. Yes Chris Stapleton captured the song and his version has changed it forever, but this is the song it was written to be originally. Hard to believe this was almost 40 years ago. Written by Gary Gentry and Linda Hargrove.
Love the David Allen Coe appearance. R.I.P. You ,will be well received by the folks dwelling in Hillbilly Heaven. I bet Tex Ritter is organizing your we
Everybody loved George Jones and all the other country singers loved him to they knowed what a great singer he was he could not be beat, and I thought him and Ron Gaddis, was great together but NJ. had to mess that up.she knowed everyone loved Jones & Tammy and I know alot of these country singers could tell some good stories about how Jones, still loved Tammy.
Great rendition. That CLASSIC George Jones sound. But Chris Stapleton's rendition has an EPICness to it that this doesn't. This comes off as a GREAT "George Jones" song. Chris' has a generational EPICness...
His vocal range has always amazed me. He can take a one syllable word, change it into five syllables while hitting three different octaves and make you cry at the same time. George was the BEST!
Agreed
Nobody does it better! We miss you George!
Hard to believe anyone would give this a thumbs down. Wow. George is a legend. Love me some George
No taste in country music.
@@elliothagen9874 you like fake country there's no better singer then George jones. You wouldn't be on this video if you didn't think he was great
Just keep on playing it
@@YoRepLay this is a false comment, I saw dac was in it so I wanted to see him. George Jones is a great singer no doubt but a little over rated.
@Chad Justice no better voice then possum. The way he hits those notes is unmatched
I was there--Champaign, Illinois--my only time seeing George. The man could sell a song.
Best version of Tennessee Whiskey
I was born in 83 in northern Maine.... no matter what, that man will forever be my king of country.
Greatest country singer of all time. No one else is close.
I love this version of Tennessee whiskey but Chris Stapleton just did it better
This is REAL county! No auto tune just music from his heart!
Just how it supposed be sung
I am very happy to say that I was able to see George Jones in person. What a concert.
Same here Savannah Georgia 1990 he was fantastic !!
I don't know what is passing for country now days but damn I'm glad I lived to hear country singers like George Jones, Johnny Cash, and Waylon Jennings
Country was coopted by pop, there is some good stuff, but it is

@@bikersoncall You don't know country, probably some weird city kid.
Coe and Jones. 2 absolute legends

@Cheryll Hamilton other than the song no show jones
I like to watch Ron Gaddis on the stage as much as George. They perform so well together. And look how they are all dressed. The epitome of class and grace.
I agree! Gaddis is great. Great singer, and great musician who always does something extra.
The matching outfits are cool, but man it was 1985 and they were still wearing bell bottom jumpsuits lol. George could’ve sprung for something more up to date haha
You missed Rick McRae, one of the all-time great touring guitarists.
No Show Jones, I sure miss you.
