RIP George! Much respect. Siting in my back yard right now listening to George Jones and drinking a glass of Tennessee whiskey. In Tennessee! Life is good.
So sad to heard that... don't worry maybe jesus want your brother sing for him with George in heaven ... ( Sorry i'm not good at english, forgive me if i typed it wrong )
I listened to Gram Parsons , Byrds and flying burrito brothers and Gram loved Grorge Jones and Merle Haggard. So I started listening to George Jones and now I know why they call Mr. Jones the greatest. Such feeling. I love him , Merle, porter Waggoner, lefty frizzel, hank , Webb .....Shine on possum! We lost a good one
Everyone has an opinion but 9 people really need help learning what GREAT country western music is! Oh, No Show could knock 'em stoned cold with his one of a kind voice. R.I.P Possum.
I so, believe that he was greeted at the Pearly Gates by a whole lot of Oldies but Goodies, Marty, Lefty, Patsy, the three Hanks, Tammy, Waylon, and Johnny, Elvis, Ernest, Faron, Jim Roger and and Patti. And oh what a Jam Session it must be..........I was country too, in the 60's and I Always, thought it was Kewl.
It sure was, in fact I think the album was called Tennessee Whiskey. Coe did it two or three years before Jones recorded it. Then Jones released it in his "Shine On" album in the mid 80's and I think he had a number one with it, or at least in the top ten. Coe's version didn't do too well on the charts but I think it was equally as good. It could be because George Jones has a much larger fan base, or that the song fit Jones' personal life at that time, he had just married Nancy and was getting off of booze right at the time this was released.

This is how Tennessee Whiskey was meant to sound and anyone trying to change perfection is a fool
Exactly 💯
Not to be contrary, I believe Coe's version is the best version. He laid the blueprint and man does he sound like the bottom of a bottle.
I disagree with you SonnyOnny. George Jones version is the best
That’s right

All those "country rappers" need to listen to this.
RIP George. So sorry I didn't get to see you on your last tour. It's a sad day for country music, they don't make 'em like George anymore.

It was originally recorded by David Allan Coe
