About...10-15 years ago on a hot summer's morning, I get a call from my neighbor. He calmly informs me that he is having a heart attack (he was about 70 years old at the time, living alone), and politely asks me to drive him to the hospital. I move as fast as possible in going over there, and subsequently learn that after feeling the chest pain, he a)took a shower, b) shaved and c) brushed his teeth before finally putting his clothes on and calling me (not sure if he took an aspirin, but I doubt it). All of that took him about 20 minutes to do...anyway, he was calm and collected (I was freaking out just a bit), and the hospital's only a 5 minute drive away, so I go and drop him off there, park and come in. And they don't mess around with heart attacks, so he was already being seen, having his blood drawn, and about to have an EKG. Apparently, after he was treated (I believe he had an angioplasty and cardiac stent insertion) they gave him a stern talking-to for his tardiness in getting help...but he's such a bloody narcissist, he absolutely could not be seen in public without looking his best. SMH.

Okay, give #DRMIKE this scenerio... you're a woman, 70, you cannot go to the er every time you have these symptoms. So what do we do? Just die? What I've been doing so far is chewing up two aspirin, then lying down with my knees propped up and chewing up two tums. So far, so good. What about our heart rate, what does it do to our pulse? Speed it up or slow it down? As it stands right now, I'll die of a heart attack before I go to the hospital and be told it's just a panic attack or something.
